Although the new material thing is most essential I find this interesting:
““I mean, I have no prospects. Now that we’ve actually mended fences and gotten back together and done this, we’re going to keep it together. Because all the bullshit we’d had that sort of caused all of the shit back in the nineties, there was a lot of outside influence on that, so now that that’s sort of eliminated we’re just left to our own devices. We get along fucking great.”
That's a much more interesting quote than the new music one. It seems the guys are actually fine with each other again. This situation might get Axl out of artistic retirement and make new music. Still sounds much more impossible than the reunion itsef. Touring money is just much more interesting to Axl than creating 3 minutes of music.

Melissa Reese is the most powerful member of GNR.
I don't doubt that some SJW GNR fans (oh the irony) really believe in that

Didn't Axl want to release new music but the label wouldn't let him?
I've yet to see any credible source for this. Probably an attempt to make Axl look less responsible for the lack of music but there's NOT ONE SINGLE proof or evidence of this happening.
-
I think they are more than employees but still not in position to force Axl to release music which he won't as he's done as a creative musician and acts as a singer/entertainer these days.

lol, millionaire celebrities don't need protection. it reminds of when the world cup ended and someone in the brazil staff said "it's really hard to be neymar" - the guy who earns ~5 dollars a minute.
axl has retired from music as an art form and is probably doing nothing, or counting the millions he made as an entertainer.

There are people who claim Walker is a "good kid" while complain about online stalkers at the same time. Wtf is wrong with some people.

There's something therapeutic about complaining that doesn't work with praising and celebrating. GNR has been disappointing fans for decades now. And they treat the hardcore fanbase like shit. So this hardcore fanbase is always suspecting. Slash and Duff are back? Ok but for how long? The band wants to release new music? Ok but have they been saying that for years? See? GNR is unstable, unreliable and has a negative aura they put themselves inside (the "get on board or fuck off" mentality).
Compare it to the NIN fanbase for example. Trent is not active in social media but does interview regularly. He's very open about future projects but uses the exact dose of mistery when talking about what's next. And fans love that. There are albums, EPs, soundtracks, live shows with different setlists to talk about.
I simply can't blame the fans. GNR sees most of them as an enemy, as a cry baby demanding for attention when in reality they just want something very basic. New and exciting stuff.
Reunion was exciting but this is the third year of the same show. "Slither" got the praising it deserved. It's there. But it's buried in the justified negativity of this being the 3 year of a show they are clearly not putting much effort into.
Slash album is cool but what about GNR music? They are together, what stops them to make 3 minutes of new music together?
A box-set/collector item is cool but GNR has so few albums released, this is not exactly what fans want. And not for 1000 bucks.
And there's everything else... pathetic GNAIR thing, Fernando coming here only to sell lythos/promote the boxset, tell people that they got a new song (SOYL). Seriously, you have to be a big cuck to get this crap and even be thankful. Does this opinion lack rationality? Maybe, but unlike SoulMonster, most people have feelings (and not the type of person people avoid in parties).
In short... this negativity is not the fans' fault. Never was and never will be. GNR could become a likeable band in a matter of seconds but they're all a bunch of assholes managed by even bigger assholes.

LOL at those waiting/wishing for AXL/DC like it was a sure thing. I know some two or three idiots personally who are probably devastated.

Sarah and the Terminator were two badasses in T1 and especially T2. I feel the new male Terminator will be a big cuck.

Well, I guess the first part was ok so I'll post it again: For those who don't have time to listen to podcasts, you should give more details about the threats.

"Richard said..." lol.
Richard is a hired musician. He has no clue what happens in GNR besides the 3 hours spent on stage every night.

People who are sensitive about negative opinions about their idol/god voice should not visit this thread. The complaining about the complaining is pathetic.

I personally hear an improvement from the first show of the year to the last few, sure it isnt 2016 level in my opinion but for a couple of reasons I hear something better sounding than the first show. Nightrain as a whole (not just 1 second or so like your post says) improved a ton to my ears. Slither is less pitchy, more confidently delivered, and has stronger vocals overall compared to show 1 it was played on to my ears.
All in all you have your opinion and that's cool. Other people may have a different view, I just feel like it is silly to automatically just go to the "I am right, everyone else is forcing themselves to hear things and are in denial". To you, if he isnt rasping the whole time it doesn't matter. To others, having an improvement that sounds better than the first shows of the tour, is an improvement that they find noticeable. And it is not fans "forcing themselves to hear things that aren't there", it is people simply with a different opinion that is just as valid
It's alright dude. And man, you certainly have amazing ears to be able to listen to so subtle improvements.

Ridiculous. There's no other word to describe this.
I never expected much from these guys. They were all barely educated drug users who had certain music talent and faces pretty enough to get heavy promotion to become stars. They released one good album and a double album mixing amazing songs with barely listenable self-indulgent shit.
Then Axl created his own GNR and took decades to release another sub-par and self-indulgent album filled with synth farts and lacking any organic and memorable music. Then he hired DJ Ashba.
For years now, music is not GNR's main focus. It's cheap, pathetic merchandise from genius manager Fernando, the guy that always pays us a visit when he has something new to sell or needs to do some damage control after some stupidity is said/done in GNR ccamp.
To everyone in here who still gives their money to GNR somehow: Shame on you. The best GNR stuff you get nowadays is either free or leaked. You can do whatever you want with your money but yeah, I'd feel stupid for paying anything coming from GNR, even new music.
They don't own me shit, I don't have to buy any forced labour cheap merchandise shit they make but it's still kinda insulting.
NIN just finished a trilogy of EPs with a new release that's being praised as one of their best yet. 30 years in his career and Trent Reznor keeps pushing. In 3 nights of the new tour, they played 43 different songs. Their merch feels like an extension of the art from the albums. It's purpose IS making money, no doubt, but it feels legitimate, at least.
GNR is pathetic. Those who support them are not much better. @Fernando surely will join us soon for some damage control or sell something new.

Just because there isn't a huge astronomical improvement like transporting back to the year 2010, has no bearing on if he improved a bit from one show to the next even if by just a bit. The most recent show overall is more consistently great than the first show of 2018 in my opinion - it has nothing to do with anyone forcing themselves to hear it differently, and it isn't "not real", so to speak
Axl isn't at his best vocally even compared to 2016, which to me was his strongest year since 2010, but hearing the most recent show compared to the first, there for sure is a noticeable improvement
If there's no drastic improvement, what's the point of going HOLY FUCK for 1 sec of rasp here, 2 secs of rasp there?
We don't even need to go back to 2010. In 2016, with AC/DC he was great. That's improvement. The microscopical improvements he has during a GNR tour is more his fans forcing themselves to listen to stuff that's not really there.
Like I said, unless he's using his trademark raspy voice in a consistent basis, there's no real noticeable improvement. Just fans telling themselves "Axl is getting better as the tour progresses!!!!11" when he adds 1 sec of rasp in WTTJ or Nightrain because he felt like doing so, not because he's improving.
This thread proves my point perfectly.
I've been watching every Slither video that comes out and while I keep reading he's sounding much better at every new performance, I keep hearing the same Mickey vox throughout the song in every damn performance. Where's the improvement? Is he dancing more in the more recent performances? Cause the voice is the same...

Guys, when you say he improved from one to night to another, I'm sorry to tell you, but it's you forcing youself to enjoy/hear things differently. A real improvement would be if he switched to 2010/AxlDc vocals. Anything else is you forcing yourself to listen to things that are not real. If you have any videos from the current tour where Axl sounds like 2010/AXLDC Axl, then please, post it here. And no, ISE, Brownstone, etc don't count. I'm talking about RQ's outro, Coma not sounding claustrophobic, Paradise City having balls. Stuff like that.

For all the shit we give him (justified sometimes), we as fans should support him if he takes a break to look into his voice. It really, really seems like the right thing to do right now. A performance on Wednesday might shed further light on it, but things seem dire.
Wasn't he on a break til 2 days ago? What was he doing during this time? If he didn't take care of his voice during his long break, why would he do it now during the tour?

This is far from the style of music I enjoy but I'll give it a listen or two hoping there are some songs where Myles sings in a lower register. Then the song might be actually good.
