  1. Really you can get most sounds out of a Gibson Les Paul.. take a listen to something like "Diary of a Madman" or something like that, with Randy Rhoads, and then obviously you've got the classic "Slash Tone".. and you can do some really heavy stuff like Zakk Wylde's style of music.

What if they want a trem?

You cant get those sounds out of a Gibson Les Paul, unless you spend LOADS on one with a bigsby, or get one fitted, which I dont recomend.

And why is it that you wouldn't reccomend this?

They kill the tone and devalue the guitar.

  2. The Slash signature Gibson model Les Paul is no long on GAK. But the new Epiphone Slash model is.

I was just wondering if Gibson have stopped making the current Slash model to make way for new ones that are due to come out soon.

They would've stopped making them ages ago to clear out existing inventory.

I used the Slash Gibbo and thought it was horrible. No way was it worth £2500. Hopefully this new one will be better.

  3. Vocals - Chris Cornell

    Lead Guitar - Zakk Wylde

    Rhythm Guitar - Izzy Stradlin

    Bass - Robert Trujillo

    Drums - Dave Grohl

Fuck, what an awesome band. Combine Izzy and Chris Cornell together on the songwriting!

  4. Distortion from the amp, boost from a Marshall Bluesbreaker, Cry Baby Wah.

Amp distortion is where it's at!

I hate pedal distortions I can never make them sound anything other than "Generic Metal Band".

Amp distortion is the same as well, you just get "Generic rock band" that way. But the Bluesbreaker makes all the difference. One of the best pedals around, and solid as fuck.

  5. if its just a 9volt try one of the £3 ones from poundstrechers, they have different connections and setting on them, thats what i have running a boss me50, boss ge7, marshall reflector and a behringer to800, i had to buy a dunlop one for my slash wah though as that was an 18volt but iv had no problems with any of these, the pedal companys want you to spend silly money on their power supplys but cheapo ones do the same job

Excellent idea, but as well as getting the voltage right - get the polarity of the connection correct and the right amount of milliamps.

  6. Hey, I bought a Digitech Whammy pedal off Ebay and it works fine, but after a couple of months I ended up losing the power supply somehow <_<. The manual says "PS750 or PS0913B Power Supply" should be used, but I'm having a hard time finding one. From what I understand, the 'PS750' is discontinued and I can only find the US style adaptor of the 'PS0913B' :(. Anyone have a clue as to where I can get a UK style power supply?

    Expensive:

Alternatively, try eBay for one from the USA and use a wall converter for the plug.

  7. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, and it sounds pretty damn good once I switched the pickups.

Yeah, I put the EMG ZW set in my Epi and through my Gibson amp it sounds really good. Really clear when I want it to be, and really punchy when needed too.

^ awesome.. i wonder what the price will be. my guess is 700

On the website I linked in my original post it says about £500.

Not sure what that is in U.S Dollars though and I cant be bothered to go onto a website to convert it

thats actuly a pretty good price, i payed £400 for my epiphone l/p custom, i then payed £160 for a set of alnico 2 pickups, i then had to fit them myself

 £400? May mate got his Epi Custom for £160, and added two SD Alnico II pickups for £90...

how did he get the guitar and pick ups so cheap? or did he buy them 2nd hand? think the customs go for any thing from £350 to £450 depending on where you go, the shop i got my pickups from is a bit dear but i have an account with them so when paying stuff up you dont mind as much

Pickups were brand new. The Epi was 2nd hand, but worn-in guitars that have been about the block a little I think generally have a bit more 'character' and a genuine worn in feel to them.

Check out crazytrainmusic.co.uk. I haven't used them in a while but they used to be good for prices. Check eBay too for new APH pickups.
