I suppose, but isn't Frank more or less a touring member? He was on some of CD, and possibly Hard Skool? Brain still hangs out with the band too, so you never know. Melissa could probably have him bang out a song or two. ;)

He didn't play on Hard Skool, that was Brain.

The only reason Frank hasn't played on any of the new singles is because they just had Slash, Duff, Richard, and Melissa work with completed parts (likely during lockdown) to get the songs over the line. It makes no sense to spend time and money rerecording the drums when Frank's not a prominent member and the existing tracks would suffice – especially since he likely doesn't have the luxury of a home studio to record drums in

Haha, and there it is, he got called a donkey (affectionally by the way) and used it as an excuse to run away because his argument that music videos are a "dead medium" that no one watches on Youtube was completely wrong. You could just admit you didn't know what you were talking about, and say "my bad", but not your style is it, pal?

I'm actually too busy to properly respond and was going to later (real life happens), but forget it. I don't owe you a proper reply

Yes, donkey, people are watching the videos as well as listening to them, the same way they always did with music videos. It’s a dual medium. If people weren’t watching them they wouldn’t be spending hundreds of millions of dollars each year making them. They’d just put the audio up. But by all means, keep defending your ludicrous position that music videos are a “dead medium” - it’s very amusing.

Perhaps you could take a poll of the billions of viewers and ask them did they watch or listen to the video and come back and report your findings to us? I’m sure the results would be fascinating.

I don’t know where you're coming from with this, are you like 80 years old? Or have you been in a coma since the 90’s and just woken up? Or perhaps you’re talking out of your ass again? :shrugs:

Look at the time, money, and effort, that went into Rammstein’s Deutschland, it’s more epic and expensive than any video Guns N Roses ever did at the height of the MTV era and it came out 4 years ago (It currently has 351M views). Do you think they made it just for shits and giggles? So someone can listen to it through their stereo at home? And they can throw millions of dollars down the toilet?

Get a grip of yourself, you’re talking absolute nonsense.

    Personal insults. Cool.

I love that song and I consider it in the family of Axl’s masterpieces as far as writing goes BUT would’ve preferred  a version with less layers. I’m surprised the most popular isn’t Street Of Dreams or Better

Agreed. I love it but wish I could hear the guitars more on the studio track, they're just buried

Yeah, there are complaints on here about the video, but no one has said they don't like it because it isn't some "big-budget production with the band acting in it", you've just made that up.

Maybe don't take things so literally. If we were having this conversation face-to-face, you'd know what I was inferring. People are saying that they want more. What is more? Bigger budget, more 'effort', that, basically.

There are multiple comments saying it's "lazy" or there's a lack of "effort", the band is "too lazy to make videos", "known for great videos...not even trying", and there is one saying they could all film something together in "a studio" – the comments of people expecting more are on every single page.

As for the views, it's YouTube – are people watching those (talking of other artists, not GN'R), or are they using the videos to listen to the song? Casting to their TV or speakers in their homes? It's a bit of a grey area that nobody can verify. It does happen.

You seem awfully angry with me 😂 It's only a music video, I haven't hurt you, I'm not worth you getting so wound up

MTV? Have you not heard of YouTube? It's been around for a while mate and music videos do massive business on it.

No one here is disappointed that it's not a "big-budget production with the band acting in it", you've just pulled that out of your ass. People are disappointed because it's objectively shite.

Yes, and it's got millions of different things on it, nobody's going to go out of their way to watch a music video on YouTube. Look at shorts, the go-to form of online video now – you'll see clips from TV shows, live performances, bespoke stuff, but no music videos. The world doesn't care about them. They were invented for a dead medium.

Erm... there's 10 pages of complaints here and stuff all over social media. It's been said. People who want a video generally want more than this. It ain't happening these days.

    Objectively? No. Opinions are subjective...

  7. It's okay. Nothing amazing, but not as bad as the over-the-top reactions here would suggest (but I expect nothing less these days).

I'm more surprised that they bothered with a music video at all. It's 2024. MTV isn't what it once was and people consume media differently – what on earth is the point in a music video?

The fact they've made an effort with something they really didn't need to is quite something given what these guys are usually like. And an extension to that point – anyone disappointed it's not a big budget production with the band acting in it, more fool you. Lower your expectations.

  8. My 'Chinese Leftovers' playlist is:

    Atlas Shrugged

    Oh My God

    Perhaps

    Hardschool

    Silkworms

    Going Down

    State of Grace

    Eye On You

    The General

    Monsters

I kept the demo/leaked versions of most of Absurd and Hardschool just to keep the playlist consistent, but I prefer the released ones. I don't consider Oh My God a 'Chinese Leftover' either but it takes the playlist of finished songs to 10 🤷‍♂️

He's a booking agent for events outside the USA. If you want to organize a concert and want GNR to play, you go through him. That's the extent of his importance. And then most likely it goes through Team Brazil as the direct artist representation (so Axl doesn't have to communicate himself) to confirm whether they want to do the event and whatever else they need from it. Though, logic dictates that word comes from Team Brazil first, that Axl/GNR is looking to embark on a tour and then the enquiries go through the booking agents.

    Thanks!
