Looking at the stats for 2021, I see that's common practice for other venues/acts. For example, capacity at MSG varies (~19,000 for Harry Styles, ~15,000 for the Foo Fighters and ~12,000 for The Eagles).

All in all though, based on the general data for 2021, the GN'R tour was rather successful (both in terms of ticket sales and  money made).

    Thanks for the post.

Yes it’s going to vary based on the stage, what type, and where the put it. Metallica plays with the stage in the center so the entire MetLife stadium is available for tickets. Combined with it’s a pit for the entire floor (VS GNR was chairs set up for 90% of the floor) the “seating capacity” is always going to vary.

The promoter is full of shit, review all the  other concerts at metlife, they will. never write  45% sold. check my old posts. I'm  just repeating myself

    its still bullshit.

Metlife capacity for end stage shows its between 52k to 58k .

    FACTS.

there are artist selling 42k tickets showing 100% sold.

btw Metallica expects an 80k capacity tomorrow/ and another 80k Sunday  (  in the round stage)

    this exactly

You quoted YOUR stats as being the end all be all and now they aren’t.

    Got it.

As someone who's very interested in psychology, it's always puzzling to me how millionaires can be so hung up on money. I mean, I'm well aware that my pathology is unique, and that there are many things at play here but... how? If I woke up tomorrow with Axl's bank account, I can one-hundred-percent guarantee the last thing in the world I would care about is making money. Actually, I'd probably click my heels and start searching for ways to give large portions of it away to those who really need it.

It’s not about the money. It’s about taking what can be took and winning.

Aren't you guys talking about GnR releasing one song. Last I heard Foo Fighters and Metallica are out playing a tour supported by a new album, with them also doing press about said album and tour. 72 seasons is not only a single, but also the name of an album. As in a collection of songs. The first since Hardwired.

Maybe Taytay can push tickets based solely on a single, not that she needs to. But you can't put GnR in the same boat as Taytay. You really can't.

We saw FF last weekend. Great show.

They played 4 songs off the new album. But I can tell you, the fact they have a new album had zero impact of whether or not we were buying tickets to see them. Same thing with GNR. The fact they DON’T have a new album had zero impact on whether or not we were going.

I realize here, that probably puts us in the minority 😂

It's not a 34 song different set overhaul for a start, I said a different set. Which means, opening and closing with different songs. Not always having the Slash solo right before SCOM. Just basic stuff. I'm quite happy to hear all the usual songs, I just want some element of surprise... like we got the other night when they threw in Bad Obsession as the 2nd song... that's interesting! Not even I can begrudge that!😄

I just like bands to throw curveballs, like when they opened that set in 2014 with YCBM. That to me is a living, breathing band. Of course they have limited material etc, etc. so they can't go too crazy, but there is no reason why there couldn't be 2-3 alternates for opening song and 2-3 alternates for the end song. Instead of ISE every night, open the set with Chinese one night, next night Jungle, next night ISE. People talk of how it's not that easy, but in reality it is really that easy.

And I'm not completely bagging on this setlist so much, I think they have made some progress in the last 2yrs. They've swapped out songs, added new ones, retired others for legs, it's not completely stagnant. But it's not enough to justify this length of touring without a new record IMO.

I get it and understand now.

Like one time when we saw FF they actually opened with Everlong.

First 2 and easiest changes to make for me…

    Condense KOHD and RQ. 😂

If you think it's great then, it is! but you have to understand that not everyone is going to go along with your point of view. For me, the set (even this "new" set) is very tired. Time to throw the lot out and build a new set from top to bottom

So what’s your 34 song completely different setlist look like?

Not trying to bust your chops, but with limited songs, and staples that must be played it’s not that easy.

  7. Well honestly I’m thrilled about Carrie. Not a country fan but she can sing for days and I have an appreciation for that. She was on our list to go see, maybe in the fall in Vegas. But now since she’s opening in Nashville we don’t have to go. Can’t believe how lucky we got.

@B5Redeye So good. The band sounded tight. Josh was a beast! If you haven’t seen the Foo live, you have to see them if you can - I was a casual fan when I first saw them in ‘18. I was sold after that show - Dave is a great showman.

That’s great to hear! Yeah we’ve seen them half a dozen times. It’s always a good show.

Excited to see them next month because it will be the smallest venue we’ve ever seen them at.

That's a valid reason not to go to shows though... it's basically the same thing they've been doing for years but the singer is worse every year.

Ticket prices are a legit reason too. If all the big bands are charging hundreds for tickets then most people aren't gonna see many big names each year, they'll pick a band that gives a better value for the ticket price. There's a reason the North American shows aren't selling...

I mean I get that it’s a valid reason…my point was they come out with “new music”, “these people” go, then come back on here and say Axl can’t sing.

I guess some people are like that, with regards to ticket prices, that’s just not me….picking a random band for less money.

It’s like going out to dinner. I’d rather spend $200 for 2 going to a nice restaurant I know I’ll enjoy VS let’s say, spending $60 at Applebees, Longhorn, etc.

I’d personally rather pay more and go see a band I know I love. But that’s just me.

Anything GNR releases will likely have vocals from 1999-2007, and Axl was still great then, so of course we'd like to hear it.

Ah, for the “new album” yes. My point was more toward the excuse people cite as the reason they don’t go to GNR shows.

That and ticket prices, which again is a farce. If you go see any “big name” these are the prices you pay 9/10 times.
