The website itself is at least better looking than the official GNR one
I'd say it's definitely merch, also from a PR standpoint it was weird for a guy with that following to have absolutely no online presence aside from a stupid Twitter account, two 8-year-old reunion interviews, and a couple of 15-year-old comments on a fan forum, now he has an official communication channel which he can also capitalize from, nothing wrong with that, so I say it's merchandising + somewhere to post relevant stuff aside from Twitter

I don't know about a full rank because I have Scraped, Riad, Schacklers, and most of those fillers at the same level of appreciation in my list but my top 5 atm are:
Better
I.R.S
Street Of Dreams
Prostitute
The General
I don't know what it is about IRS that I like so much, nobody cares about that song, but it would be my absolute holy grail for a live concert, like miles and miles ahead of Locomotive or TWAT like it probably would be for most people... the lyrics are hilarious but that's what makes it special IMO too
If we count the Chinese Demos ... man oh man...
Zodiac 13 (the second version)
Silkworms with the original intro
Me&MyElvis
Eye on You
Then the "electronica madness": P.R.L, Circus, and similar ones

I just don't understand what are they trying to portray with the kids wearing the pink hoodies

4:00. I believe it's the same as the original leak (or "leak").
Thanks. I got one that is 8:08, that, aside from Youtube its pretty obvious where to find.
And that poster is not known for bullshitting right? so idk...
I do believe it is fake but only because it sounds absolutely hideous, theres no way a group of professional musicians are gonna come up with that even if its a rough demo

If it is just another fake piece of shit, then what's the deal with not saying that is right there on Youtube lol?
How long is the version you guys are listening to? 4:00, or 8:08?

Which gig is this from?

I don't have any idea actually, i just got it a couple of years ago or maybe even during the quarantine year, as "The General (New Version)" and it didn't said anything on the metadata. But no one was faking these back then. Everybody already had the Evader version which was very clear and these clips used to be everywhere.

One theory i would actually bet money on, is this:
They chose to rework Monsters with Slash to address the fanbase (as crazy as it sounds), the vast majority thought that the cellphone clip was The General, even Fernando vaguely joked about that, right? Think about it, why wouldn't they follow the path of Absurd and HS and just go for Atlas + Perhaps? Why would they specifically chose to release what was considered the holy grail and then its "follow up" which is actually a completely different song??? They could've saved themselves from the risk of messing up like this, and people would still be excited about another EP like the one we had in 2021... But it was a smart move to capitalize on the hype while pleasing the hardcores, (the 9 min mashup on youtube quickly reached like 7k views on YT before it was taken down, so no, while the vinyl money could be insignificant next to the NITL cash, it's not only 34 forum nerds the only ones who care about this).
So, Monsters was the one meant to be released as a vinyl only hidden track after TG. Similar to "Her Majesty" on Abbey Road, it was going to start playing after some weird seconds of silence... this, as a nod to the hardcore fanbase (with the obvious main objective of selling the shit out of it, that as the end goal all along, of course). It was found out not too long ago that it was registered as "The General and Monsters" but they probably didn't wanted to give that away too soon, and that's why it was never listed as that on the official store, for like 2 months or so, maybe a month and a half ...
Enough time for Rock Radio Italy, which got that info (likely incomplete and not detailed), and since The General was the only track listed across all of the GNR official media and stores, they put out the exclusive news that The General was actually going to be released as a vinyl only track, never to be released on digital formats.
That's basically it, this could be one explanation for all of that i guess.
So what happened days prior to the 27th? That's where the other possibility may come into action here... the quality was a disaster and they tried to backup and get rid of Monsters and save it for a next release, but someone got it before they could follow trough without us knowing, it was too late.
Now, if we only get The General on streaming services without the hidden track or without Monsters as a playable song next to it... then i'll be even more confident about this 👍

Another possibility is that they originally intended to release them together (probably with Monsters as a hidden track) and that's why they were registered together, but then they found out that the quality on the 7'' was very low, so they sent it again for pressing without Monsters.
This possibility is the one i wouldn't rule out, maybe this explains why they just played The General now and not Monsters even though the registration and the themes on the lyrics seem to confirm that they are at least meant to be heard back to back. Now they could be trying to detach them from each other after the vinyl fiasco, it sounds unlikely but not completely impossible

What if the registration was a mistake?
Could that mean that Monsters will be the B side to the next single? (If there is one)

That's the fucking General right there.... unbelievable, I agree with that poster a few pages back, this sure helps with very rough times in life.

This is the most surreal moment in the history of the band.........

No man, please, send those to me. I would like to compare Monsters with it, because I didn't find much of it on YouTube.
Sure no worries, i actually started deleting those last week because i just recently discovered that GunsNRosesFan_☆☆ channel on YT (i don’t know how the hell its still up there) with a ton of 2006 bootlegs and figured out that most of them might be there now but as a part of those longer videos, and yeah one seems to be from MSG and another one from Florida, however now that i checked, i couldn’t find on YT a couple ones (including Monsters) that i’m yet to delete, check your pms

Btw it leaked on this date, i didn't had an account but i started lurking here when the reunion was imminent and then i definitely remember this. It was 2018. Not to say that i don't believe that some people heard it before, i do believe that there's maybe people out there with very juicy CD material on their hands.

I posted this on the main thread, but this is maybe the place where it belongs. It gives additional context to what Beltrami said.
So yeah, me and @Blackstar were talking about The General and Monsters orchestral pieces played before the concerts. I'm not 100% sure, as it may have occurred one time or another, but I tried to find Monsters orchestra piece in several 2006 bootlegs, and could never find it. It was always just The General. Here my early findings:
- The General piece was played before concerts in 2009/10, but it was mostly used in 2006/07. I played guitar along with that in two recordings (not sure from which shows those were), and it seemed that the orchestra is a bit shorter than the leak, and it looped back to the beginning. It has a similar secondary melody (I assume those were horns?) in the ending that resembles the first few notes that Slash plays in the beginning of his outro solo.
Could not find video for a more complete recording, but here's a reminder of how The General sounded:
- Monters orchestral piece wasn't played together with The General, as far as I could find. I wasn't able to find any instance of it being played before 2010. This is one example:
- Our conclusion is: The General orchestra was the whole song, but shorter. It was probably never played together with the Monsters part, but we all (yeah, me included) assumed those pieces were mixed together and was the same thing because of how similar they sound.
Kudos to you Voodoo and @Blackstar for this
I have some of the intros that are no longer on YT that i downloaded in 2019, the orchestrations are different (although confusingly similar) and they were never played together as a mashup as far as i could find or remember now
I think that what also happened (at least in most cases) is that we got so used to Evader's version that we never really got back to properly analyze the "intro". I was planning to do it this weekend because as i said, to me, it was the only big mystery remaining but i'm sure we already have the conclusion , and i can finally get rid of those files lol

I just listened to the cellphone clip for the first time after the leaks and yeah it feels weird because the song has been shortened.
Or maybe im wrong?
What i do hear now and i haven't thought about before, is that the solo kind of sounds like DJ lol, at least the simplistic style and that particular lead tone. was "scooped tone" the right description? I've been out of the guitar game for quite a while rn
I mean We KNOW it's 99.99% percent not him, but it would be very funny if it was him all the time, how would everyone react lol, i personally don't hate the guy at all

Jesus FUCKING Christ anyone who doesn't think that's Slash's playing should stop messing around and listen to the SOLO on Monsters 10 times.
How the hell can somebody be so much of a GNR fan to have an account on a die-hard fan forum but then they are not able to recognize who is playing that?
The bends, the tone, the phrases that end with a two note sustain, the use of scales, and that fatass sounding lick before the mean Axl bridge.
Maybe it's easier to recognize for guys that are familiar with guitar playing, but even so, i believe this is just clear as day. To me saying it's not him it's like watching a 90s movie where a T Rex chases a red jeep throughout a tropical island in the middle of a storm, and saying, "Well, that's not Jurassic Park! you know, this movie is called Godzilla, trust me..."
