Get in the ring tour was a couple of shows or what?

I don't know if this is correct, but I think the Get In The Ring Tour was the name for the May '91 - April '92 shows. During the filmed show in Tokyo '92, Axl addresses this concert as part of the Get In The Ring Tour (just before WTTJ)

So you're saying you'd rather attend a show from the 2006/2007 CD era tour over the earliest GNR tour?

I guess since there being no bootlegs from the early days or polished recordings of the 85/86 concerts, it's hard to know if those shows were good or bad.

  3. For me it would be this.

    1. Music From "The Elder" - KISS (1981)

    2. Night In The Ruts - Aerosmith (1979)

    3. Chinese Democracy - Guns N' Roses (2008)

    4. Hot Space - Queen (1982)

    5. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason - Pink Floyd (1987)

DISCLAIMER - I don't really know what's 'unpopular' or not, so I just checked this list, which is probably BS, but I don't know - https://ultimateclassicrock.com/disappointing-albums-classic-rock-artists/

Oh man that is a great question haha honestly I wish I could remember, 10 years and tons of shows after the fact I am unsure of the price beyond the wild guess it was perhaps around $80-110ish perhaps? I will at some point take a look at my ticket printout I still have somewhere and see ha

Shit, so I would say reasonably expensive. Ah well. I mean, I believe the Wiltern doesn't even seat 2,000, it's like 1,850 or something, I guess you gotta make some profit out of it.

The UCAP tour was cool to be honest, I caught them at the Wiltern which is a theater, albeit a sizable one, but it was cool seeing them in a much more low-key way than a huge venue.  Most importantly, nosebleeds in the theater gigs you can still see the band and they do not look like ants lol

That's really cool! Out of curiosity, how much were the tickets? I'm just wondering if they were more expensive or cheaper, considering it being an intimate gig.

My dad and I saw GN'R in 2012 at The Fillmore in Detroit. It was awesome. We saw them months prior in 2011 in Chicago, at the Allstate Arena. Both shows were amazing, but there was something cool about being a little closer to the band in 2012 at that venue. I'm not sure if it's considered a theatre, (2,900 capacity) but it was definitely significantly smaller than any arena or stadium.

    That's awesome!!

I guess where my mind was heading was just combining the UYI tour with those really beautiful concert venues, but I've heard from people that the Up Close and Personal tour was really cool.

I would be cool with that :)

Guns are fun in stadiums, but there's something special about theatres too.

Interesting. I think a Guns N' Roses theatre tour would work if it's kind of like an unplugged tour, but other than that, I would think that a) tickets would sell out very quickly b) limited stage design, and c) I wouldn't think there's that much energy as there would be in an arena and a stadium. I've always viewed GNR as an arena/stadium rock band.

I see that GVF have been opening for Metallica. Does that mean they are the best rock band to come around in a few decades?

Pretty far-fetched to say that because Greta Van Fleet open for Metallica, it makes them the best rock band. Unless of course you consider Metallica to be the best rock band, but then we might have a problem if you think that...

IMO, I think Greta Van Fleet are one of the best rock bands of the 2010's / 2020's, and one of my personal favourites. I pretty much grew up on the Led Zeppelin, Who, Aerosmith 70's music, and so I enjoy this kind of music. But, obviously, bands like Royal Blood, Dirty Honey, Mammoth WVH and Rival Sons are also incredible rock bands.

All in all, I think GVF are a good band, and I like the music they play.
