I think there might be more drama behind the scenes and that releasing an album or some songs is not really that easy for GNR. As a private person I would love all the village leaks to come out in a finished state, but if I was in charge of the label for sure I would rather have a complete new GNR song to promote that Slash and Duff helped write.

How can it be to release songs though? What drama?

Slash has an ‘all things considered’ special with every topping. Dominos license the pizza and slash commences a lucrative advertising deal with the pizza company, appearing in adverts, menus and promotional material.

Duff doesn’t eat fast food but he claims in the 90s, small time burger joint ‘Donalds’, like the Simpsons writers, contact him to ask if they can use the ‘Mc’ from his name, and he willingly obliges. This is completely false, and everyone’s confused as to why he’s said it.

Axl wants an experimental pizza that moves the needle and changes how we think about pizza. He wants it to be bold and daring.. but after hours of simply conceptualising the pizza, the restaurant eventually closes and he doesn’t end up having pizza at all.

Izzy, unable to be reached, has never confirmed what is his favourite pizza. A spokesman for Izzy has said ‘Izzy is Izzy’, answering no one’s questions about anything. We wish him well.

Steven admits he is banned from papa johns and hasn’t had pizza for a while. In an Eddie trunk interview, he reaches out and admits he ‘loves Papa John, he is my brother and I love him and miss him.’ The following week, Loudwire report Steven called Papa John a ‘piece of shit who could never out-pizza the hut’ in another interview the same day. Steven remains banned.

dizzy Reed will just have what Axl’s having.

    Gilby likes pepperoni pizza.

  3. These shows are most of interest

Cathouse 1989 - shot on film - one of the last full shows with Steven, too

PA 1988 - shot on film

Farm Aid 1990 - last original band show

Rio 1991 - first UYI lineup show

Paris 1992 - represents the peak of GNR’s popularity

    Argentina 1992 - great show

    Saskatoon 1993 - great show

    Belgium 1993 - great show

Milton Keyes  1993 - great show, one of Izzy’s last until 2006

Argentina 1993 - last UYI lineup show / last show with Slash & Duff for 23 years

I would pair some shows together like

Cathouse 1989 with Farm Aid 1990, and the 1989 guest spots as bonuses

Paris 1992 with VMAs 1992 and the Freddie Tribute as bonuses

    etc

Bollocks it was too costly, Geffen was shovelling cash into the GNR fund. At what point did this band ever once give a second thought to ‘budget’. The only thing they spent more on than drugs was theme parties. He could’ve got an arranger to score it and record it with an orchestra in a day. Like Buckmaster did with Elton in the 70s. The Eagles had the London Philharmonic orchestra come in and do desperado on their second album.. and they were still ‘up and coming’ at that point.

He wanted to programme the orchestra because it was a little feather in his cap and he could say ‘I did it all on my ownsome with no help because I’m a clever boy’. Axl was always reaching for more muso-cred. He wanted to be compared to Jeff Lynne, not Dee Snider. Ironically I think he would’ve got more muso-cred if he took the tasteful route and stumped up for a live orchestra and was more open to collaborating with an arranger. Taken him 30 years to accept that, it seems.

He did talk wanting to work with Jeff Lynne, possibly having him do the strings for November Rain with Mick Wall back in 1990, but for whatever reason it never came to pass

I doubt he was wearing hats/bandanas 24/7 but he wore them a lot in the few pictures that have surfaced from that time. Riding a rollercoaster might be one of the few times he'd take a head covering off. Outside of that when he was arrested in 1998 he was wearing a hat he had to take off and later in the year when he took a picture with a fan he was wearing a bandana while working out. He wore them a lot publicly until 2000 when his hair grew shoulder length again, you can see this in the pictures of him with Gilby and most of the 2001 pictures.

Its possible that instead of there actually being a genuine issue with his hair (surgery or loss), that he was self conscious about there possibly being one. Erin testified he had become very vain and obsessive about his teeth, nails and hair while they were together. Taking tons of vitamins and doing facial herbal wraps and stuff like that. He said he was taking like 28 different vitamins. Maybe he saw an issue that wasn’t really there and felt self conscious

Likely answer is he wore full cover bandanas from 1994 on to cover hair loss. The 1998 mugshot shows his current hairline that you can still see on shorter haired Axl on this current tour. He probably had some kind of hair restoration done before 1998 and even after that covered his hair while it grew in. Even from 2001 present I think he had problems with the way his hair grew/looked hence the braids from 2002-2007 and how different his longer hair looked in 2001/2009-2018.

I don’t think so. 1997 roller coaster pic shows his hair looking intact

A demo of you could be mine would have been nice, if it exists….

at this point I think if a demo of you could be mine (with Steven) existed (or still existed) it’d have shown up by now. It’s very possible that a demo DID exist, but does no longer, or that no demos ever existed, just rough rehearsal tapes which have been lost to time.

We only have the Mates Rehearsal of 1989 in a recorded form which demonstrates the AFD band working on new material, and YCBM isn’t one of those songs.
