I'm not gonna read all 5 pages but to OP's post:

    1. Spaghetti, the Estranged video and Sympathy were all just little bones thrown to the fans to tide them over, nothing more. Snakepit's debut went platinum with little promotion. There was still plenty of interest in Guns, hence the constant interviews Slash was getting asking "When is the next album coming? What's going on?"

    2. MTV moving on to grunge to chase trends doesn't mean there was no interest in GNR by the public. Sales have proven that interest in Guns has never waned in the ensuing 30+ years. A legendary band will always have interest, regardless of trends.

    3. These quotes show that Axl in particular had fallen out of many peoples' graces, not GNR. Specifically, people who met him personally, which in reality was not even a tiny percentage of their fanbase.

Ultimately, OP didn't make a very coherent point.

so would you say GNR had fallen from their grace with music fans? 😅

Ain't Going Down was going to be on UYI and then on TSI, but according to Slash it was left out because it was unfinished (needed more vocals) and it eventually ended up on the pinball machine.

Regarding the other three, they haven't given a reason, but I suppose it's the same reason as with Crash Diet: they were really West Arkeen songs he wanted to shop to record labels that members of GN'R helped him with, not GN'R songs. They just picked some of West's songs that they wanted to record themselves (The Garden, Yesterdays, Bad Obsession - and it seems Just Another Sunday was briefly considered, too) and the rest were his. The whole misunderstanding with these songs being considered as "unreleased GN'R songs" is due to a bootlegger back in the day randomly calling them "Unwanted Illusions".

West was a big helper in the day. Was there ever consideration to making him an unofficial sixth member or at least a more consistent songwriting partner?

Is the pinball version a recording from 93 with gilby?

I was worried about that after the massively negative response to Absurd on their social media (anyone remember Beta arguing with fans on Slash's Instagram?). Since that didn't affect things regarding releases, I don't think the negativity now will have any effect on whatever the plan is.

I haven't really looked at the comments on their social media, but from a quick look on Slash's IG post, although there are the usual "Slash should stick with Myles and quit GN'R" comments, there are also some positive responses.

    A question for you @Blackstar

I might be attempting to make sense out of senselessness, but is it possible (to you) that they are doing this drip drop approach with songs to test the market and reactions?

For example, let’s drop Absurd - see if an experimental track, what the reaction is. Let’s drop HS, a more traditional track, see what the reaction is, etc.

With the idea of using these old songs as testing ground to determine the overall direction of a “future record”

    what do you think?

  5. Cd had a lot of great songs that regardless of brand name are great: TWAT, Catcher, Chinese D, TIL. Some good rockers in Riad and Scraped.

But these songs aren’t that good. Absurd was better as Silkworms, but it needs the “bitch like you” chorus badly.

HS misses Robin’s guitar and even then it was a b side at best

perhaps shouldve been sold to a female pop artist to use

the general feels very unfinished. Like a sketch of a possibly great song, but as is C level.

monster is a great tune but is still an album track. Not single material.

  6. You can also hear the clipping in the guitars I feel. They sound very compressed, not as midi sounding as HS but close. They sound fake somehow, even though they’re not. The drums sound flat and lifeless, all vitality removed. The sound has an abrasive sound because of the clipping that I don’t think was the intent artistically. It makes it sound like a demo.
