Well he had to literally pay people to sit around in expensive studios for years working on things to send him and/or for the muse to hit himself. There’s a lot of upfront costs as well when you’re the only person left with any equity on a project. Everyone else has a salary for their time.

I mean I know why it LITERALLY cost that much. Like aside from the earlier years where a huge majority of it was worked on, they really just paid people to sit around and tweak it for years. Poorly planned maybe but still one of my favorite sounding records. That might be half the fun of listening to that album for me. It’s an enigma that it took so long and cost so much.

Good lord, Chinese Democracy album cost over 13 Million to produce? 😱😳🧐😵‍💫 WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? 🧐😵‍💫😳😱

I’ve never understood why it was so expensive. I feel like you’d have to try hard to spend that much on making a rock album. I guess that figure might include the cost of the 2 unreleased parts of the so called trilogy but wtf.

Yeah, it'd be so cool if Axl would do a 3 song piano set each night. Boot Dizzy off the stage for 20 minutes a night, rotate Perhaps, Catcher, Street of Dreams and Breakdown and then end the "Axl Piano Bar" on Nov Rain.

    Would be awesome.

Isn’t street of dreams a Dizzy riff?

I always thought him doing this I love would be sweet

I’m surprised Frank didn’t bother to do the drum-fill into the last chorus correctly.

I can’t help but feel bad for him. Maybe I shouldn’t as i don’t really understand the nature of his membership in the band. It’s odd they had him record some songs on Chinese (which all his work sounds great, esp. ITW) yet not on the new stuff? I guess he’s just a touring member but ffs he’s been in the band for close to 20 years..

Just imagine if you could go back to 1999 or whenever the original demo was recorded and put together and tell Axl “I come from the future, and I’m here to tell you that you’ll release this song in 2023 with Slash and Duff on it.”

It’s just crazy to think what roller coaster the band has been through over the years.

Lol yeah he was all “fuck those guys” when he recorded most these vocals they now play under. I don’t think anyone could predict this bands history

Judging by the fan reception to Atlas I don’t know if they would be chomping at the bit to redo it. It seems like no one really liked it here or at very most were underwhelmed by it. I’d say The General is more likely since we’ve seen it on setlists.

I agree. I think The General would be great because it allows them to continue framing 20 year old songs as new but for this one, nobody has really heard it. It would be new to even the hardcore fans.

I like Jelly Roll (his newest album is mostly shit though) but wtf is he doing at the top of the rock charts...

something in the orange on the other hand is one hell of a masterpiece for a country song

Anyways- I fucking can’t wait to tune in to the radio tonight. This kind of stuff reminds me of staying up till 6am the night of the troubadour show watching any video or audio I could

I really like and from all GN'R Guitar players he's the closest to Slash sound somehow

I agree but he also contributed greatly to the nu gnr sound. I see him and Slash as the main two lead guitarist in gnr as far as sound goes

I’ve always seen buckets playing as novelty. It’s like GNR featuring Bucket because his playing is so fucking insane that it’s sort of out of place for Guns but also really cool nonetheless

Have you heard any Elton material in the 21st Century?  "The Captain & The Kid" from 2006 as well as "The Union" with Leon Russell in 2010 and "The Diving Board" from 2013 are all great albums and have a lot of heartfelt moments and decent compositions

I also quite liked "Blue & Lonesome" from The Stones in 2016, which granted is an album of blues covers but the performances are great and it is technically a release from them in some form

Agree. But I think, similar to gnr, no matter how good it is (it could be better than anything off AFD or UYI) nobody will give a shit what a band in their legacy years releases. Maybe thats why they chose to release the mostly written and done Chinese outtakes. It doesn’t matter what they put out, none of it will hit at this point anyway.

Record a shitty solo? Wouldn’t even matter if it was good
