  1. Or the original recording sucks and they couldn't even set the correct gain on the preamps while recording
  2. This guy claims that the vinyl picture from GnR France is fake and that someone had it pressed by a Czech manufacturer. I mean, who prints just one unit.. You can't do that lol. Especially with all the Guns copyrights slapped on it. Anyway, I was skeptical too, saying it didn't sound like Slash playing, because the mix didn't feel recent. Turns out, it's even worse—they took the old mix and recorded some guitars and bass over it. I really can't understand why they released such a poorly produced song. The drums are a disaster, clipping all over the place. Just give it a spin at 1:00, and you'll hear two kick drums out of sync—it's clearly a mistake because the next pre-chorus has just one. The whole orchestration is like -40dB, and the choruses are basically copy-paste.. Come on, this could've been an awesome song, but after 20 years, we get a demo version. I'm happy if most fans dig it, but personally, it's a letdown. I still love the lyrics and think this is a powerful song.
  3. Of course. But I don't have Apple Music on my New Zealand account, so I had to listened to it through iTunes, and it's not lossless there. It's still better than the leak which was around 128Kbs if I remember Edit : It was 320Kbs, so actually good quality.
  4. Just listened to it, and it does clip. Specially during the drums fill like the leak. I mean, the leak is the same as the official release.
  5. If it's only a matter of few dBs, no. But a different mix involve reverb, delay, EQs, and effects. These are audio processing that will be directly noticeable.
  6. The only reason I said that is because I find it really hard to understand how finished versions from 2 years ago have already leaked out to hoarders. I mean, the last leaks from CD sessions surfaced in 2019, nearly 20 years after they were recorded, and we would have some final versions from 2 years or less? Anyway we will have our answer very soon, and I'm looking forward to hear it lossless. I don't want to mess with the fans, as long as the song is good I don't really care who's playing on it
  7. The "new leaks" are bullshit.. Perhaps is not even on the same sample rate than the 2 others. And it's totally normal because the original leaks for The General - Monsters were at 48KHz.. like the new leaks.. So for those hearing a new mix and don't know anything about compression, I'm glad you guys don't work as mixing engineers
  8. This is the exact same version as the leak. Only radio compression makes certain elements sound louder
  9. It was mastered by Bob Ludwig trust me the vinyl mastering was perfect from the start
  10. Well to be honest I didn't try to recognize Slash playing. I was saying it's not him because they re-recorded the Chinese songs in 2020 and I highly doubt a so recent recording could leak. I agree to say some parts remind me of Slash it was more about theorising on the recording date As for the cell phone clip, of course it sounds far. But the differences are very notable, the chorus has not the same feeling at all, I just enjoy it more, as well as the solo (don't care who play it, I just like it you know)
  11. So what do you think about the future release? We will get "The General" as we have it now without Monsters? Or both songs as a 9 minutes track?
  12. Did I say Slash ruined the song? I prefer the instrumental from back then, I have a vocal removed version of that clip so I don't hear any people but the song.
  13. The facts? Sample rates (44.1 / 48 / 96 etc) are used during the digital to analog convertion process Vinyl is 100% analog, what do you want to sample? you can "rip" a vinyl to 48Khz, but the default setting for every audio unit is 44.1 because 48 is mostly used with sound + image, so there's no chance the vinyl is ripped to 48Khz anyway there are no vinyl noises or crackle and that's enought to say it's not from it
  14. An Atmos mix would be such a good idea, they can make something incredible I'm sure
  15. If these are the final versions? Of course I will be Releasing such poorly produced tracks with Axl on the megaphone for 'The General' would just be mocking the fans. The guitar parts on the cell phone recording are so much better. The full orchestra intro from 2006 as well. You barely hearing the pizzicatos in the leaks and the brass instruments disappeared. What a shame for Beltrami's work. So yeah, I will be embarrassed to get this "recording". And I won't be the only one
  16. This version sounds so much better, the slow melodic solo - lead was so damn cool
  17. Yes sure but Slash and the other ones weren't in the band at the same time so it would be weird to keep some Fortus / FInck parts
  18. Well maybe, I'm saying that because a lot of people agreed that it wasn't just Slash on these leaks
  19. It's not a proof, I was just wondering how a track with Slash and Fortus can be release if all the previous release were Slash only
  20. Did they keep Fortus or Buckethead or Finck solos on the recent Absurd, Hard Skool or Perhaps release or it's full Slash? Because if it's only Slash, why a version with Slash and Fortus sharing a solo exist in the first place?
