This could prove to be the final nail in the coffin for the HD-DVD format. Looks like sony take this one.
nope, your forgetting that paramount ditched blu-ray to go HD-DVD if anything, it equals out.
Warner going Blu-Ray is a bigger blow than Paramount going HD-DVD.
And besides, Paramount were bribed to go with HD-DVD by Microsoft. $130 million, wasn't it?

And with rumours going around that Paramount are regretting what they did, It's safe to say that HD-DVD is going to lose pretty soon.
Paramount is poised to drop its support of HD DVD after Warner Brothers’ recent backing of Sony’s Blu-ray technology, in a move that will sound the death knell of HD DVD and bring the home entertainment format war to a definitive end. Paramount and DreamWorks Animation, which makes the Shrek films, came out in support of HD DVD last summer, joining General Electric’s Universal Studios as the main backers of the Toshiba format. However, Paramount, which is owned by Viacom, is understood to have a clause in its contract with the HD DVD camp that would allow it to switch sides in the event of Warner Bros backing Blu-ray, according to people familiar with the situation. Paramount is set to have a bumper 2008 with several likely blockbusters, including the latest instalment in the Indiana Jones franchise.
Paramount joining the Blu-ray camp would leave HD DVD likely to suffer the same fate as Sony’s now obsolete Betamax video technology, which lost out to VHS in a similar format war in the 1980s. Warners decision last week to throw its weight behind Blu-ray saw it join Walt Disney, 20th Century Fox and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as backers of the Sony format. The Warners move gives Blu-ray about 70 per cent of Hollywood’s output, although the format’s grip on film content will increase further when Paramount comes aboard. It is unclear whether DreamWorks Animation has the same get-out clause in its contract with the HD DVD camp. However, Paramount and DreamWorks have a close relationship, with Paramount distributing DreamWorks Animation films. The two companies also signed their HD DVD contracts at the same time. Meanwhile, Universal has declined to comment on its next-generation DVD plans since the Warners move.

Been stocking up on PS3 games recently.
Picked up COD4 and Ratchet and Clank a few weeks back, and got Assasins Creed and Smackdown Vs. Raw 08 last weekend. Loving them all at the moment, although I wish that SvR had a little more thought put into it. I love WWE and was a little dissapointed. It seems like it was rushed.
I wanted to wait for Uncharted for Xmas so it was worth the wait when I played it. (even though I played the demo already). And I also wanted to pick up Guitar Hero 3 as it seems like a cool party game thing.
My wife wanted me to get a Wii so we can play it over Xmas with the kids and family. I was hesitant as I'm not really interested in Nintendo, but I bought one anyway.

Sadly, it also shows us that Axl doesn't have the pull any more. I figured we'd see ads in the paper last week for the release of Angel Down from BB or CC, especially with the Axl name dropping going on. Not a mention of it at any store. Somebody at corporate might have thought that it would be requested at the store level since he's involved with the record-Guess not.

PS3 for sure. 360 will be obsolete in a year or so.
The PS3 is built for the future. It had a slow start but has come back in fine form, not to mention some excellent games that came out last year and a lot of crackers this year.
