Arguably the best run of albums any band has put out. And pretty much every track is killer.

(I might have left out Aftermath though)

but I see why it’s in there.

The MC5 get fuck all Love.

For me, I think the best run of albums is Love it to Death, Killer, School’s Out, Billion Dollar Babies.  The band, Alice Cooper, released those 4 insanely good albums in 3 years.

I used to be in the “Steven’s not all that” camp- but having seen him at Dodger Stadium 3 years ago- there is an irrefutable energy, and uniqueness to what he does that is quintessential Guns. That doesn’t mean Guns hasn’t had “better” drummers on the stool (it has)- just that there is a certain something to Steven that absolutely can’t be dismissed IMHO. Kind of guy where you could go to 100 concerts and still not see/hear anything like what he brings...

I felt that way for years with Alice Cooper. Always had a talented touring band behind him, but I saw the 4 surviving members of the original AC Group play at Alice’s show in nashville 2 years ago and the feel and vibe when those original guys walked out onstage and played THEIR songs far surpassed any virtuoso musician Alice has ever played with.  No one can replicate the feel of the guys that wrote and recorded the music. And I felt the same way when steven came out at the Dodger Stadium shows in 2016

I always thought thats bullshit, a convenient excuse. If the desire was there to record they could record stuff here and there on the road. Maybe book some studio time on the off days like the band did for the spaghetti incident.

If new music isnt released by then, there will be no new music.

Hollywood Vampires recorded most of their new album in hotel rooms while on tour, and when they aren’t on tour, Alice Cooper is doing his own tour.   Guns N’ Roses are just lazy. Or perhaps the creativity just isn’t there anymore.  What made Appetite so great was the fire and hunger in them.  Chinese was basically all about some Victoria’s Secret model and self referential in recording the album almost.

I wanted, and still do, want to hear the stuff Axl had worked on while doing Chinese.  I liked oh My God, Silk Worms etc.  but enough is enough.  If that stuff was going to come out it would’ve 10 years ago.

New/unheard music, in any form. Whether that means NITL line-up recording an album, the CD-era leftovers, or Axl/DC. Live releases and over-priced box-sets are relatively uninteresting and wouldn't sell nearly as much as new music would.

I can't believe how much people fawn over the Ritz '88 show, too. It's one of the most bootlegged concerts around, from any band. We've all seen and heard it plenty of times, and honestly it's not that great of a show - most other bootlegs from the AFD era blow it out of the water (Music Machine '86, Ritz '87, Melbourne or Japan '88, etc). If Ritz '88 were their next official release, I wouldn't buy it... if they couldn't be bothered to include it in their $1000 box-set, and want to squeeze an extra $25 out of each fan, then fuck 'em.

Exactly. Plus the Ritz show was shot on video and not film, so a high definition release will only be a standard definition master blown up to HD just like the videos on that blu ray disc in some box set that came out last year that lost to weird al at the Grammys

  5. I love concept records and I really like the concept behind this one.  It's a harrowing tale of a musician that likes to release music, and he is not able to do that in his main band since that band is really only into marketing cheese and box sets with collectible coins, so in order to achieve his rock n roll dreams of writing and recording music, he must enter the studio alone and triumph with a solo album

  6. A lot of those shows weren’t marathon shows time wise either. Prob all around 2hrs or a little less.  The main focus was on Appetite and Chinese, even to the point of having the new band re-recording Appetite for rehearsal purposes.  I remember in one of those 2002 radio interviews he talked about the one album a year, keep touring and adding in new material. Obviously that never happened and instead they just added in more Illusion material like Estranged and Civil War instead of stuff like atlas Shrugged and the General...unfortunately.   They were more of a cover band in 2009+ to me than they were in 2001-2006.  At that point even half the people that played on chinese were gone.

I've heard that opinion, but I'm not quite sure how that's possible. I would assume the same stampers were used to make it.

However, I'd be happy to try it out some time. Maybe or order one sooner or later. Can't hurt to try a 20th copy! Lol

I actually have a copy of it - the UK release has different matrix numbers compared to the US.

I know this has nothing to do with the groove distortion on the US release, but I remember the US LP being scuffed up right out of the packaging with blemishes, scratches, etc.  The UK copy I have looks like a pristine audiophile LP - not a mark on it

It's the worst case if inner groove distortion I've ever heard in my life. So the songs near the beginning of each side sound great, then as the needle gets closer to the center of the record the sound starts to degrade. By the time you're on the last track of each side, it's pretty much unlistenable.

The Euro release sounds so much better than the US LP

Those guys lucked into those copies. I know that for a fact because I know one of them personally.

They didn't go out of their way to buy up items in order to rip off other fans, then justify it as capitalism.

How'd they find a box of them?  I know they're promo copies, but wondering how many they pressed

Maybe they don't have a Target in their location, maybe they are unable to make it to Target, and would prefer to order it online.

Put it on eBay as a Buy it Now for what you paid for it in stores then

Axl has been thru this before.  check out the video. Beta talks about Axl spraying his house, etc and even then parts of his home were damaged.  hoping no more people got hurt.  Axl and his neighbors can always rebuild.  But we cant bring people back

    good luck to those effected

This current fire makes that one from the video look like a backyard campfire - this is bad - I live in Studio City and can't even walk outside, the air is so smoky - was just down in West Hollywood/Beverly Hills area and it's fine, drove back up to the valley and its rough

There are 7 fans present when the band (minus Axl, Slash and Duff) arrive at the hotel and are only standing about 5 m away. 2 of them call out his name and ask him specifically for an autograph. He just pretends that nobody is there, doesn't even turn around and just stands there for a couple of minutes before entering the hotel, ignoring the fans. That was this year, when I was at the band's hotel. Last year, they were about to leave, came out of the hotel and walked to the car. Again one fan, out of a group of fans, standing between hotel exit and car, called out his name and asked for an autograph. Again, he just totally ignores the request and rather stands in front of the car for another couple of minutes, instead of spending 5 seconds to honor that fans' request,  before driving off. I didn't like the guy before and I can't stand him even less, after I witnessed this behavior twice. On one hand you have nobodies like him, acting like a total ass and on the other hand you have people like Johnny Deep, signing autographs for 20 minutes after a concert. Or the Dead Daisies, who met up with the band later and actually did step outside l to pose for photos with fans and gave autographs. And of course, when that happened, Dizzzy pretended to embrace the fans too. The very same ones he first ignored.

Met him after a Hookers N’ Blow show in Pittsburgh back in early 07.  He was an asshole.  I forget exactly what went down but long story short; he was trying to get me to buy him shots of Jager and was being a dick about it.  He asked me what I was drinking and said something like “you should get me some shots of jager”. I’m like, “dude you just finished a world tour with Guns a few months ago, you can get your own Jager”
