  1. i guess if this was a no win situation, axl lost the worst way. look at the negativity. some praise him, with the last "rockstar" bullshit that doesn't make sense.

let's hope this is the last tour for some years and that they release something new soon.

i want to like gnr again, i want to hear new music.

it's ridiculous to keep playing old songs and trying to prove a point with a new band. doesn't make sense, seriously.

  2. - but mommy, i don't wanna be nominated

    - ok lil axl, beta is here, don't worry, we'll sue those bad guys

    - yay!

    - now, go do some vocal training for the next tour

    - mom! i do that on warm-up shows remember?

    - oh, sorry honey... go play with that lana girl

    - ok mommy, you're the best

    - no dear, you're the best, now, that paycheck you had for me....

  3. it's funny when those "whiners" are called obssessed and told to get a life. guys, don't worry, i'm sure all the "whiners" have an ok life. they sure won't post about their frustration with work, family, other bands on a gnr thread. so if these fans can't talk about they don't like about gnr on a gnr forum, hell, i don't know where they can.

i won't post here about how i wish nin would release the limited edition of 'the fragile', got it? and i believe that's the right thing to do.

i love chinese democracy, i'm not a hater. but axl really pisses me off with his arrogance and the bullshit he speaks, always trying to be the victim.

if people like me can't post about it here. well, be happy in your HTGTH 2.0.

  4. i was about to post something like "can't wait for the other guys reaction" but, truth is, they won't give a fuck, maybe steven.

i don't see slash or duff talking anything bad about it, they could joke a little, but those guys are too old for so much hatred.

like i always say, i don't lose my sleep over this, i believe axl is a mediocre human being, love his music and that's it, as a person, the guy could die tomorrow and i wouldn't really care.

we'll never see axl and slash together again and i don't care about it. i would love to see them reunited for one night because that looked more exciting than anything gnr have been doing since 2009.

i just hope we get a new cd soon, maybe i could start respecting axl again.

keep on touring your greatest hits axl, that's what i call moving on.

  5. disclaimer: i'm not a hater. i'm not obssessed, i don't lose my sleep over this suff. not needed to tell me to chill out, to relax. just getting other points of view from other fans out there.

I can understand when guys like Ron and DJ won't express themselves or talk too much about GnR future and decisions. Whenever I read interviews from Dizzy and Tommy, though, I get a sense of passiveness from their answers that seems kinda odd. I've read things like:

"Whatever man, I'm in just for fun"

"Whenever Axl decides, I'm up to it"

"We don't really communicate when not touring"

    "I don't know"

    "I don't know"

    "I don't have the answer"

It gets me thinking: Really? You are in a band for decades and you are ok about having no "voice"?

This comfort zone Axl is in is kinda worrying when you start to think about a new album. There is simply no one in there to make things happen besides the boss. It's all up to Axl.

Like I said, for guys like Ron and DJ, that would be extremely hard. They are the "new" guys. Although, Tommy and Dizzy are in the band for DECADES. Richard got the job in 2002. I think they could be a little more involved with the band that gives them the good life they have.

Some years ago we had no tour, no website and that sucked but we had at least a name for the album. Now we don't have even that. We have Greatest Hits tours. Some people are ok with that. I just wonder if anybody else is frustated with those guys. Axl always said they work as a band. That is not true.

  6. I guess every answer for Axl right now regarding GnR past and present is: Not in this lifetime. So yeah... Maybe...

Axl doesn't want to live in the shadow of his past, but he does seem to want to move forward.

The pace in which he progress or what he actually achieves is debatable, but I do think he has a desire to release new material at some point in the future.

Looking back, if someone told me back in the 'silent' years all that is going on with the band in 2012 and went down in 2011,2010

video interviews, some form of connection between the band and the fans and just to have this kind of activity, fucking pro shot shows?

fuck, we've come a long way, even if it's not anywhere near the level of how a 'normal' band operates and we still have just one album, at least there's a feeling of movement.

It may take a while but I think we'll hear cd2 as soon as Axl will be satisfied with what he did for the released Chinese Democracy album, and when a deal is agreed upon with proper promotion.

good post. i agree with 90% of it. i just lost hope. axl said a lot of things. he said he had songs ready to go, like a poster above posted. all i can think of that right now is: bullshit. he has nothing. he wants to tour. show me a sign of new material and i'll be a happy fan. all the signs point to touring and more touring. the rest of 2012? tour.

why is it so difficult? because there is no desire. it's the way i see things. i hope i'm wrong.

  7. I was thinking... Axl wouldn't really like the situation where the greenday guy introduces GnR and then people will see Slash, Duff and Steven going on stage to get the award. He wouldn't like GnR being represented by them. So there's a possibility he'll be there, just to keep GnR image attached to him. I would go a little further and say if the guys perform without him, there will be law suits.

  8. i agree with people who wrote dj knows shit. it's clear the guys only get together when touring. tommy said in an interview he barely talked to axl when they weren't on tour. dj seems to be closer to axl but the guy has business and other bands to deal with, so i guess they don't have time to talk about dating.

  9. It isn't like Slash has done 50 interviews, with an hour of each one talking about this.

He has mentioned it in what, 3-4 interviews? That people post here and just pull out the 2-3 sentences......

Some of you are trying too hard. We get it. Axl is right, Slash is wrong. Ok.

But in reality, why hasn't Axl commented on this? Why is it a mystery if he is showing up or not? Honestly, I think what he is doing is just as bad as what Steven is doing, and Slash is doing nothing wrong.

These guys are adults and professionals and should act like it. What is so hard about accepting an award, doing something nice for your fans, and then going back to your regular lives???? All the mystery and confusion and frustration would have been avoided if Axl just took 15 minutes to straighten it out. Have his people call Slash's people and tell them what is up. Even "I will show up and accept the award, I am not going to perform, let's keep it respectful in the press or I won't attend." Simple.

My favorite singer of all time. But he sure never chooses to do things the easy way.

Axl an adult and a professional? Since when? lol.

don't foget that he doesn't owe the fans anything, like his ass-kissers love to remind us.

  10. U2' Zooropa and Pop are better than anything on CD. No Line on the Horizon had some good songs too. Won't even talk about the 80's. U2 is far superior to GnR, musically and artistically. They sell out stadiums in the US as well, I don't care about popularity, but... yeah.

  11. Fergie should be the one inducting GnR and I'm serious, why not? what other band would be good enough for gnr? at least fergie is hot... and friends with slash.

  12. I love CD, but I've heard it too much. If it was a double album, I'm sure I would be still enjoying it, but 14 songs in almost 4 years is enough to get old.

I can't really tell about reception. I've never been to any concert. But there was no promotion on the release date and the tour promoting it hardly has songs off the album. So I guess you can't have a reception with such an obscure and unknown album. I know ONE person who bought Chinese Democracy.

  13. I'd rather Hulk Hogan inducted GNR into the Hall of Fame over Green Day. Or they could just get Kenny Powers to do the honor.

DJ would love that. Hulk Hogan must be an idol for him.

  14. i love rancid, can't believe the guys and billiie joe were close at one time. gd is a complete sell out. rancid's still great though.

well, this whole thing was already looking like a mess, each day i have less and less reasons to care about this joke.

  15. Man some of you guys miss the point. I'll keep this short and simple.

Fact: Most GNR fans would like to see the original band at least go on stage, performing would be a huge bonus.

Fact: Slash, Duff, Steven, and Matt are going and many believe Axl is going to show as he should and as he probably wants to.

Combine these two facts with Izzy saying he's not going. Where is the damn integrity in that? Oh, the HOF let in Madonna so fuck it all! Oh, there's a chance there could be a "clusterfuck" so fuck it all!

Man, all these critics about the hall, keeping honour, bullshit like that.. it's all BESIDE THE POINT. The point: Seeing the old band together one more time to celebrate the past. Izzy doesn't want to go because he's a "rock n roll rebel" he "has integrity".... Nah, he just doesn't want to put up with one frigging nights worth of possible annoyance and seeing some people he doesn't like when he can sit around in his mansion and collect checks from Appetite ignoring the people who got him there. Big man, Izzy is

Would I like to see the original band (at least) once last time? Yes.

Does RRHOF means anything to me? No.

You have put too much hope to this circus.

You've replied to both my posts with exactly what I spoke against in the quoted post. Does the "rock and roll hall of fame" mean anything really? Am I going to think differently of the band once they're in? Will it make people respect the band more? No, no, and most probably no. Is that the point of my argument at all? Also, no. It is about the fans. You saying it isn't, even the hall saying it isn't (which of course they have not done, but say they did) doesn't make it so. The fans have made it about the fans. It's using logic similar to justifying nu GNR logic that people can arrive at the conclusion that the name of the event has any significance whatsoever to what it means to the fans. What matters is the potential of said event. The original dudes getting together to celebrate the past, the fans with them.

This is probably the last chance they'll get to come together and celebrate the past in a significant way; the band knows this. The fans know this and are excited by the prospect. The band knows the fans know. Not attending because you don't feel like it isn't a very good excuse. I'm not even going to address people who think he's got integrity for not going and all that, clearly those people are more fans of some artificial idea of integrity and what it means to be "rock n roll" over the actual music and the people who made it.

I agree. I hate reading things like "being rock n' roll". fuck this. being respectful is better than being rock n' roll. i lol everytime i read things like "axl, the last real rock star" i mean, really? shoving botox up your face is rock n' roll? acting like a diva is rock n' roll? hell no. izzy is not "rock n' roll" for not going to the hof either, imo.

  16. isnt it funny, we are discussing about middle aged men, who got everything in life anyone could ever fucking even dream about, sometimes I think have these babys ever gone through anything real shit in their lives....fucking hell.

You hit the nail on the head.

Just a perfect example as to why I love the music these guys have created in their careers, but I've never understood why people idolize celebrities. Their problems and issues are laughable compared to what most people go through in life.

Love the music, could not care less about all this other drama stuff. If they played - awesome. If they don't....no big deal.

Couldn't agree more. I love Axl the musician. Axl, the celebrity, the guy himself, not so much, the path he chose to go with GnR is wrong and uninteresting to me. That's why i want new music, so i can discuss the only relevant thing about GnR. Axl farting and people calling him the "last true rock star" got old already.

  17. 1) What are your 3 favorite albums of the last ten years?

yeah good question. this could be interesting to know the new influences of Axl. with this dark decade where rock style sounds like crap, it would not be surprising that he listens to other stuff (or even nothing!) like aguilera, winehouse, maybe white stripes and who knows artshit monkeys!

it's funny because the last ten years, imo, were quite good regarding rock music.

first 30 seconds to mars record was a masterpiece (i know they sold out, but the first one is great) and is a great example of modern rock

same with the whole coheed and cambria discography, best band out there, nowadays.

we had, some cool NIN records

dredg and the dear hunter released real works of art

protest the hero, making technical stuff sound fun.

i wonder if axl knows any of these bands... or he keeps his eye only on the mainstream acts, if hip hop, electronica and industrial are still relevant to him... if only he was more open to interviews.

i went a bit off-topic, but I HATE people saying that modern rock is crap. It's not, it's great as always, you just need to find the right bands.

  18. i get the feeling that slash wouldn't mind playing one or two songs with axl, he wouldn't actually enjoy it, that wouldn't make them friends again... but, for the fans, he'd do it. slash is over it.

axl wouldn't. axl calling slash a "cancer" is enough proof to show how axl hates slash. i don't know the reason, but axl will never be on stage with slash again.

i just know one thing. if i reach my 50 years, i'll try not to be such an arrogant and hateful person like axl. that's ok for an young dude, but, crap, you're 50 man, stop being such a child.

I don't get it with the gall of some of you, (and outside the fan boards as well)you don't know what the f*ck happened between the two only what has been let out over the years but there's too much that we don't and never will know so for someone to say "you ought to this and that" remember we don't know who they really are we're just fans. Just know the place and stay in it. Yeah it's childish but still some folks handle stuff differently something I've learned along the way.

we don't know anything, of course. just my frustration speaking aloud. but i'm not making this stuff up. there are many interviews, posts, etc that shows axl has a "bitter" side. my opinion that all this arrogance could be put aside for some minutes for the people who got him up there remains. as a fan, i would love it. i'm not demanding anything, just wishful-thinking.

i couldn't be less interested in the current formation of GnR. Classic line-up and Robin/Bucket/Brain era fan. so this reunion talk is the only thing to get me excited.

new record and i'd shut my mouth right away about slash, axl being childish. i want to discuss the music, not the assholes who make them.

  19. Slash, Duff, Dizzy, Matt,Steven accepting the award that's all I can see happening

seems likely. these guys should get some singers (corey, sebastian, fergie lol) and jam together to honor the past of the band. HoF is not really a big deal, but it's a good evening to have fun and play good music since a reunion looks impossible as of today.
