You are really narrowing it down if you cannot provide a credit card. Many of the places will not accept debit cards and that will hurt your chance of getting the best deals. Also most the major credit card companies got you covered as far as insurance etc. with a rental when you use your credit card therefore you can decline any coverage the rental company will give you saving more money. A debit card you will be unprotected depending on your personal insurance policy. Make sure you get a rental with unlimited miles otherwise you might as well just buy a car with that mileage fee lol. I have made the drive from San Fran to LA and if you have the time take the Pacific coast highway it is gorgeous. About a 1.5 or 2 hour drive south of SF is this beach that has tons of Elephant Seals if they are out it's pretty neat. Get a convertible if you can afford it as it is very scenic. However be prepared to drive it is a long trip.

Thanks for the tip.. We will need to stay overnight somewhere on that route.. Any suggestions.

I have just managed to get to 31 without getting a credit card and really don't want to have to get one just to hire a car.. It's a visa debit and I think Alamo and Thrifty will accept those so will just put up with the hold on funds

  2. Myself and my girlfriend are turning the trip into the chance to have a road trip..

We are flying into San Francisco - staying there for 2 days then driving from SF to LA and from LA to Vegas...

Does anyone have any tips for this trip ...? also I would love to rent something like a mustang .. anyone have some recommendations for a good car hire company - they also must accept debit card!

    Thanks in advance

  3. I don't post much but like any GnR fan I've been following the reunion rumours with baited breath.

These tweets are infuriating though... I'm inclined to think they are negative (certainly in terms of a reunion).. but if they are why can't they just come out and say "No plans for a reunion with former members".. nip the thing in the bud, be honest and deal with the backlash instead of trying to look intelligent, mysterious and annoying their loyal fanbase by posting this trash.

The only other scenario I can see is that they are being hounded for news by everyone but they are working on making this happen so no news is good news ... and surely with all the rumours people can read between the lines..

  4. What a great Performance ... This for me is when Axl is at his best when he leaves nothing on the table and pushes his voice - Last couple of tours I have always felt he is just giving it about 70% but it seems since the Golden Gods he has been giving it his all at least in most songs - might not be perfect but its fucking good to see!

  5. In my opinion what makes Axl so mesmerising as a performer is that he puts his absolute all into a performance and leaves nothing left in the bag. This for me is what has always differentiated him from the other great front men. But as of 2011 to me its like he has just being going through the motions ticking the all the boxes but without any real fire or passion, I could live with the sketchy vocals/mickey mouse if I felt he was giving it everything, but as a bystander it looks like he firing on 3 out of 6 cylinders with rare flashes of brilliance when he decides to go for it.

But I think in the last few shows something has changed just by watching the videos I get the sense that he is trying and pushing himself that bit more, singing the songs with more grit and meaning and I have really enjoyed the performances sure the vocals aren't as good as ever but they are better then they have been and that has to be a good thing.

  6. Lol you can barely even hear him. He's being drowned out by a 66 year old. There was a time when Axl would drown out anybody he'd duet with, those days are long gone though.

Ron I don't post here often but I have seen so many of your posts over the last couple of years that I had to say something - jesus man please stop with the negativity...!!!!!! I was at the show you were at in Dublin, I was screwed over by Axl too, I was pissed off but I have picked myself up and moved on as regards the band and Axl goes... I went to 2 shows this year and loved every minute.. is there really a need to continually try to snipe at Axl on here, surely there are better ways to make use of your time.

Sure he is sloppy as fuck at times, and a complete headcase but at least he is never boring!

I'd hand you a tissue for those tears if I could.

No tears just can't help but see it as a waste of time.. if the guy really upsets you that much forget about him ... find some other band to like! Otherwise just accept the way he is and find a way to enjoy it...

When did I say I was upset. I have accepted that Axl is no longer capable of delivering a solid performance and is a complete trainwreck at this stage. Which, given his pompous grandiose diva behaviour in the past is actually hilarious to watch

That could well be the case, But you can either choose to make the most of what we do get or continue to constantly snipe at Axl on here which in the grand scheme of things will achieve nothing! But hey if it makes you feel better then I apologise for mentioning it.

  9. Absolute belter of a gig, Very very solid and a great setlist with a close to perfect mix of songs old and new - From where I was standing Axl was hard to hear between the crowd and his voice being drowned out in the mix but for the most part his voice seemed superb on TWAT and Civil War especially! I actually couldn't believe I was hearing TWAT and took a few seconds to realise after being fully expecting Madagascar.

The only thing I can fault is the section with TIL, Better, 2 Solos and then SOD all in a row killed the crowd completely not that I don't love the new stuff but for the casual fans I think it was a bit long for them to go without a classic song. Oh and I know Axl wasn't fully fit but a bit more crowd interaction would have been nice!

Roll on the o2 in London to do it all again!!!

  10. Its all just a bit sad really, I for one never expected Axl to show at the RRHOF but its so disappointing that regardless of what Slash has or has not done, that he couldn't do it for the fans - yes we are not owed anything and as Axl said there doesn't have to be a happy ending but what a nice gesture it would have been if he could have been the bigger man and got up on stage and accepted an award graciously regardless of his contempt for Slash or his issues with the RRHOF itself. There didn't have to be a performance or even a big speech just an acceptance and an acknowledgement of his appreciation of all those that helped the band along the way.

Instead we got a press release which aside from its niceties about thanking the fans sounded like a spoilt child throwing their toys out of the pram. Will it change the way I feel about the band old and new and their music ? No, however I am like I'm sure the majority of fans across the planet left feeling disappointed but somehow unsurprised.

  11. I don't for one second buy into him holding back or self preserving... I think one of the great things about Axl is that in terms of performance he either gives 100% or nothing at all. I honestly believe that there is some underlying infection/illness causing his vocals to be off and it seems to be affecting his mid-range register mostly, he can still do the screams and the howls reasonably well if a little forced, and the lower register stuff sounds good but his mid-range voice seems to be out of control at times and not in a good way!

Its this range here that is gone...
