un-biassed article for people who know nothing about Oasis
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/columns/the...y_of_oasis.html

has anyone heard the Live version of this song on ummagumma? fucking mindblowing. I truely believe this song has directly influenced every death metal goth band ever.
-
there were some highly political german punk bands, who contributed a lot
-
yes there are loads more bands, but i cant fit them!!! The Charlatans are fantastic. Muse however i wouldnt call them a band of the 90's. Another great band would be Cast
-
Out of those Primal Scream for their later stuff. I hate pretty much all of those bands & that type of music...
what later stuff would that be??? XTRMNTR?
-
UK: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, even Jimi Hendrix made his name in the UK! B)
you do know that Syd Barrett of pink floyd influenced hendrix dont ya?
-
I'd say definitely the UK.
Zeppelin, Floyd, Maiden, Beatles, Purple, Sabbath, Stones...
that's 6 iconic legendary bands right there.
US has GNR, Aerosmith, Metallica. But that's a moot point because these bands were all influenced by the Brittish legends.
... who were influenced by people from the USA, so it evens out.
obscure bluesmen dont count the beatles is where it started.
-
cant you make it a poll??? : )
anyway theres no argument really.
The beatles are better than any american export in history, dont like them??? oh theres led zeppelin? dont like them oh theres pink floyd?
now now watch them argue that kiss are the greatest rock n roll band ever
-
Excellent poll. All those bands are great, but my personal favorite is Portishead.
portishead - Dummy, is one of the best albums ever made.
-
Since the Manic Street Preachers aint there I'll say Oasis. Followed by The Verve and Radiohead.
i wanted to put them on the list,, but i couldnt fitt more bands
-
i was just watching a documentary called, blood on the turntables about The Stone Roses,
did you know after their first album they wanted to sign with geffen and geffen wanted them because they knew they had the potential to be the best band on the planet, geffen gave the stone roses £300,000 but their manager fucked them over and stole all the money. Very sad story regarding the roses.
And that makes rock n' roll belong to britain in the 90's how?
It doesnt. what do you think this is some childish war?

They are not that good. The only awsome album is Blur's "Parklife"!
huh?
-
well rock n roll belonged to britain in the 90's so whos your favourite band out of these?
-
ouch, i cant stand this album its so tedius and sounds the same all way through, the lyrics and singing are so cliche. They are trying to sound too much like The Black Crows but failing miserably!
1/10.
HAHAHA...are you shitting me? why can't you just accept that this is a great album and band? "Failing miserably to sound like the black crowes"? what? these guys kick the shit out of the black crowes. the black crowes haven't made a decent album since "shake your moneymaker" (in the early 90's). This is the first album in years that acutally impresses me. finally someone who knows how to play the guitar!! And a singer that doesn't just scream and make strange noises...i don't see how you could not dig this shit
oh excuse me, i forgot you were the rock n roll consultant of the world.
In my opinion this album is boring, the vocals are terrible, and theres loads of better bands at the moment. You keep mentioning the guitar skills? uhm what skills? the guy is just wanking the guitar. As a guitar player myself, i see nothing special in the playing.
-
yeah. never cared for new order
-
cant believe Ive never seen a topic about them on this board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the music is quite depressing, but still a very talented band,
any fans?

listening to the first song now, so far they sound like a Proud Mary tribute band.
-
Siamese Dream and Melancholy and the infinite sadness are better albums than any of those bands albums, no competition really! SMASHING PUMPKINS OWN.
-
wheres oasis? :|
I guess Oasis are considered more like being mid 90's. These are almost all grunge bands.
oh well out of those The Smashing Pumpkins, just a great band lightyears ahead of nirvana at the time.
-
wheres oasis? :|
