  1. Now I like Nickelback, they've the ability to write a good tune now and then, Its a shame that the ones that are better than your 'How You Remind Me', 'Rockstar', and 'Photgraph' never get as popular. Im talking about songs like 'Feeling way too damn good', 'Too bad', 'Shouldve Listened'.

But this is not my point.

My point is that, some 2 or 3 years ago, Nickelback released their latest album and the 1st single 'Photograph'. Then they released a couple other singles and 'Rockstar'. That was just a radio single and to be honest, noone really cared for it. Then some smart alec decided to do a video and re-release, and every n00b out there is giving it '0h teh new n1ckelbak song is gr8!! ima get th noo album!!!'.

ITS NOT A NEW SONG OR ALBUM!

The album was remarketed as 'the brand new album from Nickelback'

Now theyve rereleased 'Photograph' and everyone seems to think that its an amazing song with nothing before like it!

Do these people not have memories?

I used to like Nickelback but have finally realised that theyre becoming sellouts.

Did you really say that Too Bad is a good song? It might be the worst rock song of the year.

Breathe - that's a GOOD song. Back when Nickleback were actually a real rock band.

How You Remind Me was a really catchy rock song.

My problem with Nickleback is that each album will have 1-2 catchy songs, but ONE - they have the worst lyrics in rock music, hands down. And two, 75% of their songs sound exactly the same. Their next album will ahve three songs that sounds exactly like whatever the three most popular songs were on their last album.

How You Remind Me was the worst thing that happened to this band. Because it vaulted them from a cool rock band, to a band that now has to produce "hits."

Same thing happened to Def Leppard. They went from being a kick-ass rock band to a band desporate to produce hits. Conversely, they went from being one of the top rock bands in the world, to being a band that toured with Bryan Adams.

  2. That song almost gave me a headache, it was that bad.

I'm sorry Barbie, you were not supposed to listen to it.

    it's utter shit.

The doctor's reaction at your moment of birth.

I love how newbies like you and cyanide have to prove their forum worth by insulting other posters.

Fellas, why don't you stick to the topic and not result to personal attacks.

Attack the other poster's ideas - not them personally.

Thats how things work in the adult world.

I don't have to prove shit, 'cause I know how this forums are full of fanboys(with exceptions of course) that will give you the most retarded reasons as to why GNR is the best band ever, all while staring at a picture of Axl flashing his nuts and waiting for the year 2000 when CD is gonna be released (ups, it passed already). There's only one smart person here not agreeing with me, but he has valid points, kinda, so no need for insults with him... but the rest? ha, don't make me laugh.

Lars, I thought you liked Axl and Guns n Roses?

  3. How in the fuck does a band that put out Master of Puppets and Battery end up putting out shit like this?

same way your mom and dad made you

    And that's funny because . . . . .

OK, my mother and father had sex. My mother got pregnant and had me.

    So your saying . . . . James fucked Lars . . . . . and this is what Lars birthed out?

Oh - I get it now. Good one. That is funny.

Kassonova . . . the one prop I will give them, is this song is definitely heavier than what we've heard recently from them. But Metallica - at the their best - was basically a combination of the hardest hard rock mixed with heavy metal. They weren't thrash metal or metal like overkill or slayer or bands like that. This song sounds like they are "trying" to be heavy.

Songs like Master and Battery were hard and heavy, but also with a catchy-ass chorus.

    Even a song like this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUoWZ_zcPpE...feature=related

Is heavy - but not thrash-metal heavy.

ANd songs like sanatarium and fade to black and Ride the Lightning even basic songs like Jump In The Fire . . .. . . . I love them!

    Enter Sandman - hated it.

    Anyway -

Don't take offense. Music is all open to the ear and preference of the person listening.

Im GLAD that you like their latest sound.

Personally though, I prefer the songs I listed above.

I'm an old school Metallica fan.

I think the best heavy metal/hard rock songs of all time are: (not in order)

    Welcome to the Jungle

    Crazy Train

    Master of Puppets

  4. I'd put Ozzy (not Ozzie) under metal, not hard rock. And Chris Cornell is more hard rock than metal...no grunge category.

    Also, Bob Marley as soul/RnB?

I know . . . but I didn't want to have 19 groups. Grunge, classic rock, reggae, etc. So I had to make some consessions.

Good points on the ozzy and cornell . . . there are a few guys that could go in multiple categories.

  5. Obviously John Lennon is one of the best ever, but I couldn't figure out where to put him.

I'm 38, so my music background is basically from about 1985 until now - hence the reason there are a lot of 80's and 90's singers on here.

Anyway - this isn't meant to start a big fight, just a fun debate.

IN MY OPINION ONLY . . . here are the top three singers at each genre.

Maybe not the best "technical" singers.

My criteria was if I was the lead singer of a band that played this kind of music, whose voice would I want.

    Melodic Rock (love)

    1. Steve Perry - the king of the love song, the smoothest voice EVER

    2. Elton John - perfect at what he does

    3. Van Morrison - love his voice, ripped with feeling

    Pop

    1. Buddy Holly - the REAL king of Pop. Fuck Elvis and Michael!

    2. Prince - old prince, son. old prince ruled. little red corvette? when doves cry?

    3. Ann Wilson - the best female voice - ever

    Soul/RnB/Urban/Black

    1. Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing - enuff said

    2. Bob Marley - still the best

    3. Otis Redding/Ray Charles - Otis's voice could melt your heart

    Rock

    1. Freddie Mercury - nothing needs to be said

    2. Robert Plant - defined rock, how many copycats of him are there?

    3. John Fogerty - come on - unique cool voice. underrated in my book.

    Hairband Rock

    1. Eric Martin - OK, nobody will agree with this. But what an amazing voice.

    2. Sebastian Bach - you might not like him personally, but the fella can flat out sing

3T. Jason McMasters - lesser known, but can hit the HIGH note and sung for a ac/dc tribute band. Listen to Queen of The Nile, Teasin pleasin, Scared.

    3T. Tom Kieffer - cinderella

    Hard Rock

    1. Axl Rose - dude - nothing needs to be said

    2. Ozzy - again, his voice defined a generation. Crazy Train is still the SONG

    3. Steven Tyler/Geddy Lee - Tyler, just from so many rock classic. Geddy for his uniqueness.

    Metal

    1. Bruce Dickinson - doesn't get the credit he deserves. Sounds as good live as on album.

    2. Rob Halford - heavy metal at it's finest

    3. Chris Cornell/Dio/either Ac/dc singer - tho all might belong in the hard rock section

  6. jeez

what ever happened to the band that put out master and battery and fade to black and jump in the fire and sanitarium!!!!!

whisky in a jar was the last song they put out that was even listenable.

  7. "And 2 the OP, if Haemorrage was one ofyour favourite songs, then by that logic, Creed were the next beetles."

Why would you say that? One song by Fuel has nothing to do with the author's feelings about another band. Creed the next Beatles? Yes, both bands did release a lot of pop crap - but I've never heard anybody put them in the same category. Why would you even think that?

Personally, I'm not that big fan of the fab four. I understand how they changed the face of POP music, and I admire and respect them immensely because of it. In terms of a POP band - you'd have to consider them the most successful of all time.

But songs like Yellow Submarine and Twist and Shout . . . come on. Pure FLUFF pop music.

And what is it you didn't like about the song Hemmorage by Fuel. I think it's a great hard rock song. Singer sings it with a lot of emotion, sounds like it's straight from his heart. What's not to like?

  8. anybody that says that Creed is a Pearl Jam rip off, hasn't listen to more than 1-2 songs by either band. End of Story.

They are not that similar at all.

  9. I can take them in small doses.

I really liked a couple songs off their last album. They put out some pretty heavy songs as well, but people tend to only know their slow songs.

Subs - they are an american band that it's really "popular" to dislike right now. You know how when a band cmoes out of nowhere with a couple huge hits - at first everybody loves them, but because they are so popular, people start to hate them?

It also hurt them because a couple of their BIG hits were more mellower songs - so true "rockers" surely can't like them.

People compare them to Pearl Jam . . . who they sound NOTHING like.
