I’m sure it’s been discussed but I’ve noticed things don’t seem to get pulled off YouTube anymore? Is there any info as to what’s happened?
-
Every man and their dog seems to have uploaded the concert film onto THE video website and none have been pulled. What gives?

Honestly, can we blame any GNR fans for wanting more? After literal decades of the band's archives being largely ignored, while this concert film is stellar, does it make up for 30 years of Axl ignoring the band in its prime save for a heavily overdubbed compilation live album in 1999?
That being said this live video is gonna be keeping me busy for a while and I am loving the hell out of it
I totally understand, I do. I’ve been a fan since 1987 but my god, that concert. I honestly kept saying to myself “Is this really happening?” while watching it. That concert film is so amazing it blew my fucking mind.

The band just released what is maybe the best looking concert film ever made and you are here asking for more.

Seriously can’t get over the quality of film stock they used. This is high end movie film.

Yes, it will be great to get back to nothing happening for years.

Subtle difference overall, a little clearer with a tiny bit more high end. To regular listeners it will pretty much sound exactly the same.

Izzy leaving was the end of the band’s creativity.

So is the concert floating around in the clouds yet?

Had a ton going on around announcement time for the set.. Can’t seem to find these songs on any of the versions of the box set. What version are you listening to that they’re on? Sorry for the dumb question lol
Not on the boxset, the individual albums have a live disc with songs not on the boxset.

Really cool to finally hear these concerts properly mixed and in high quality after all these years.

It sounds like they pulled the blanket off the speakers. Clarity!

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this video back in the 90s but with the album version as audio. I had a version on vhs that had no T2 footage and I think it’s the same.

Axl is not the guy he used to be. It’s a good thing.

If they had kept the original drums it would be about 3 times better.

The correct answer is Breakdown.

Looking good. Still sounding strangled.

I highly doubt it would be shot on film. Both because of the cost of the film material and because of the need to hire a sound operator next to the DOP. You cannot record sound directly on the film. That would make things much more complicated. So if they say they have 24/7 footage from 3 years, that would make hundreds if not thousands of hours of material. So I am pretty sure most of it is shot on video (with sound directly on the camera), some small bits maybe on 16mm (which is 2K). But definitely not on 35mm. Maybe only a few shows like Ritz '91, which they did record on film because of the YCBM music video as we all know. But I don't think anything off the stage would be shot on 35mm.
It was all shot on 35mm film, intended to be released in cinemas. There are plenty of shots of the film crew in old MTV reports.

Good observation.
Taking in consideration most of songs were recorded along UYI, same recording process, same mixer.
Difference is straight rock ( or punk ) tunes in the case of TSI.
Izzy's guitars perhaps wouldn't be so much useful for the up to 5 minute songs. He got bored or just lay a subtle guitar part for those as far as i remember.
That's why he is not so present in the mix in many or even not playing at all.
Matt has a great drum sound on those sessions. He explained they worked with lots of different snare sounds.
Izzy isn’t on TSI. Or are you talking about UYI?

Kind of related to this but I wish the band would put up the music video for You Could Be Mine on their channel. The use of Terminator 2 footage is the most likely reason it's only available unofficially.
Same, especially when there is an edit with no T2 footage that’s been around forever.
