  2. It is odd seeing them as a teen during the UYI tour.  I as a rebel and bad-ass to see such a dangerous band!  (So were the kids who went to see Elvis and those dangerous hip moves).
now it’s like, “uncle Axl is in town”. Glad to see people younger than me discovering GNR!  So much great stuff over the last few decades!

As I Chicago person having been to lots of GNR show, I agree.  But if they want to link a gun to Chicago, this about the only way to do it.  Al Capone and mafia are friendlier than our gun-shooters in Chicago.  I’m making no political statement on gun policy in observing that.

I’m very happy that for a few weeks the city was associated with nascar, and I don’t give a shit about nascar.  (but I watched it because they were racing on the streets I drive and saw them setting up. Very surreal to see their burn-out marks on the streets when they reopened)

A lot of the race footage showed the nation what’s beautiful about the city.  That’s cool. I’m looking forward to tonight!

  4. I was disappointed.  Especially seeing it on Spotify with all the Perhaps merch- Perhaps clothing and a Perhaps 8-ball like the cover.

after listening a few times, does anyone have a melody to hum from the song.   I can remember the general flow of the chords and the “hey heys” but the rest is like a wall of procesing. Even Axl’s voice.

I hope it’s more raw live and they don’t over-do the pro tools live rig for vocal filters and pitch correction

  5. Greatest Hits with a few Chinese tracks on it.  Second cd with absurd and hard skool, a couple unreleased CD songs redone with slash n duff.  Maybe a couple live performances.

Title will be self-titled “Guns N’ Roses” or something like “GNfnR. - the reckless life” or something like that.

Then the farewell tour with arenas and vip small house of blues-type places.  Or a residency in Vegas.

  6. I’ve been a fan since AFD came out.  I won’t bore you with my “true fan credentials.” They do what they do because their audience loves it.  It shows in ticket sales.
Yes, they are older and different from being misfits in their 20s.  Yes, we may never see a new album.  They won’t just put a weak product out there.

i was excited to read how last night was.  Video clips, interesting observations, etc.  but the complaining and complaining about complaining is insane.  It’s repetitive and boring.  We might as well have a checklist where you can vote on your complaint.  I can no longer weed through 50 pages of repetitive complaints and debates.

it’s like complaining about the color of the sky.  It won’t change.  Accept it and move on.  This doesn’t have to be like the other guy’s cheerleading site.  But ask yourself if you’re really contributing to a productive, interesting discussion.

    m. Why would they on top of that give away one more of the unheard songs, so there would be even less unheard material on the album.

If they're gonna play a new song, it makes a hell of a lot more sense to play one of the songs that fans have already heard, so not everything

Reality check.  99% of fans, those who have bought millions of albums and buy NITL tix to hear the big hits, are not checking every day for new leaks and trying to hunt them down.

Atlas sounds like a bad soundgarden song, or a song by the band "Live." Hard to judge completely on 15 seconds, but it just doesn't do it for me.

Not to sound like a dick; and I'm a reformed hardcore Axl supporter, but when you listen to these leaks, it's easy to hear why the album took forever for release, and was probably released against Axl's wishes - the vocals are absolutely atrocious. Axl was regarded as one of the best rock frontmen of a generation, and he's whisping through these songs like a cartoon character.

The high range just isn't there. On a song like Atlas, where he is sitting more in his natural range, it sounds OK, but then you start getting the infamous "mickey" voice when he tries to push it. You hear traces of him reaching for that past range in Hard School, but the vocals are pretty embarrassing.

I might catch some shit for this, but a lot of this material hasn't and will never see the light of day because Axl Rose can't sing anymore - and it's not gonna get any easier as time goes on. You had that one window between 06-10 where he was putting on a great show, but those days are over.

The NITL tour got by on names alone. The shows weren't better than shows we saw in '06 - I'll take that to my grave. Listen to songs like Slither, and Black Hole Sun. Axl Rose has no business singing those songs. They are an absolute embarrassment, nor does a typical GNR fan give a crap about hearing them.

I love axl but not to the point of deafness.  Your points are valid.  The auto tune comes in during HS, not as badly and noticeably as it does in parts of the finished album.  Or in the looney tunes song.   But hey, he’s human.  I’ll buy whatever he puts out.

the Beatles released “let it be naked” without the overproduction.  It would be cool to hear a similar release.

  9. I’m guessing the majority of tickets are sold to people looking to hear the hits and/or get drunk at a fun rock show.  If the shows can sell out and merch can be sold, why introduce new songs most people wouldn’t care about?  The average person would probably like a cover of Freebird over new stuff.

I am speaking to the big festival and arena shows.

Remember, we are not average casual fans.

Slash's recent comments have seemed to set of the expected fire keg in the media ... Do they have other information? Or just naieve? Ball's in (been in) Axl's court ....

Correction- media is speculating as they have for years,  this time by slash saying nothing is planned but something could happen

how many times have we heard this?  Move along.  Nothing to see here.

  11. Excellent.  I was hoping for an expert view on the remasters.  I’m like someone who loves wine but the year or vineyard it comes from is lost on me.  Are you hearing sounds in it that were buried in the original mix?  Or are now more clear?  Is pro gear needed to hear a difference?

Hey guys.... I'm not sure if there is a topic for this, but I'm an audio engineer and I've just purchased the 2 lp vinyl and downloaded the 16/44.1 CD audio from the download card. Generally the audio is not overly crunched, but is about 3+ DB louder.  Thus less dynamics. I still think the original CD is better despite the new transfer.  I'll same the same for the LP set.  Beautiful artwork, good pressing, nice poly sleeves, etc... but shrill, loud cut, lacking low end, and could have been that much better.

I think the take away from this release is the demos and unreleased.  Thats something to be thankful for, though we all know it could have been more expansive.

I used the Mac program Audio Leak to check RMS volume.  For those who don't know what RMS is, I've included a tutorial link.  I'll setup a photo hosting site and send screenshots.

I always loved this song a lot but I think the album version is really weak. 91 live versions were ok. 92 and 93 versions were fantastic, Slashs solos were mind blown at times. 16/17 is consistently good but I don't think Slashs cleaner tone and being lower in the mix works as well on that song.

Anybody got any thoughts? Favourite versions?

I love it whenever he says “homefuck.”  Best word ever

The Chicago show isn't on the Pikes website, wonder if that means it'll be just him without Brain and Brewer, or if he's just slow to announce it...

You have to get the bandsintown app then you can order it.  I,just did.  Maybe there’s another way.  Plenty of tix available.  I saw him in a solo shoot w in Chicago, maybe 5 years ago. Fantastic.

    There Was A Time

Not sure how many more i can post today.

Thanks for posting this.  I’ve been looking out for it!

Also interesting to me to see the production scaled back for arenas.  The stage seemed so narrow!

i also saw a lot of the background visuals changed.  I’m not sure if anyone posted but there was a maybe 30-60 second animated video before they took the stage of various vehicles smashing through obstacles representing different stops on the tour.  My description doesn’t do it justice. Look it for it

Last night was amazing! I thought axl sounded pretty strong last night. A few voice cracks here and there but his voice was strong last night! Axl and his mic stand absolutely crack me up if you watch him during the show. Durin YCMB, he was swinging the thing like a gigantic sword and just doing all sorts of funny things with it. Axl was in a great mood all night and so was the entire band. These guys are clearly having a blast on stage together and enjoy putting on a 3 hour 30 minute show!

There were some more funny moments like when frank fucked up the beginning to YCBM and Axl made fun of him. Someone already mentioned the train horn not working which was funny as well. During KOHD, during Richards solo, Axl was swinging his mic like a baseball bat, a golf club, and doing all sorts of funny shit when Richard would hit this one note in his solo. If anyone saw this, you’ll know what I mean.

The show was great and I was pleased to here TWAT in person.. Axl sounded good and I thought did a nice job on the outro. He was very strong on a lot of songs and really impressed me.

Slash was his usual crowd-stunning self. He was on fire (as usual). Not much more to say, he always shows up to play.

Some highlight songs for me were: Jungle, YCMB, TWAT, New Rose, Coma, Black Hole Sun (Axl sounded amazing on this song), Nightrain, and Madagascar (Axl was strong as f*** on this). Now every song was great, I just feel these were the best sounding ones last night.

One other quick thing, people who say Axl is overweight and out of shape, can’t sing with any power. Just stop. I bet there are only a handful of people in the world who can RUN around on stage singing incredibly difficult songs for 3 and a half hours. I give him so much credit for that, as with the rest of the band. They bring so much energy each show.

This show was such a great experience, as I got 8 more songs than I did last year at Soldier Field, plus My Michelle over OTGM. Only complain was I didn’t get to hear Prostitute but hey, I like Sorry so I can’t complain! Really enjoyed myself and hope everyone else did! Cheers!

So why do you think Axl had on a boot and a sneaker for LALD?  Not enough time to change?

was th sneaker foot the one that was injured?  Maybe he was trying to adjust a brace or something and had to get back onstage in a supportive shoe?  Who knows?

i’m wearing a cowboy boot and a sneaker today, though!
