  1. Bon is one of the most charismatic, memorable figures in rock history. So, Bon has the edge, but that's certainly no knock on Brian.

IMO, Brian has been good enough he more than stands on his own merits, rather than being considered a "fill in". And that was nearly an almost impossible task considering the positon he stepped into.

    Bottom line: Both ROCK!!!! rock3

  2. Gene may personally be a jerk off, but there's no denying he was far and away the MAJOR focal point of the band for the public back in its' hayday with his fire breathing, bloodspitting, etc. When most people thought of KISS they though of Simmons--his "Q" rating or whatever would've dwarfed any of the other members.

Although Paul can sing circles around him, Simmons did do lead vocals on some of the very biggest radio hits(Calling Dr. Love, Rock 'n Roll All Night, Christine Sixteen, etc) and well as some other fan favorites(Deuce, God of Thunder, etc).

I was always a Paul and Ace guy first, but anyone who followed the band in its' prime will tell you Simmons was easily the attention getter for the band. And he's also been considered pretty much the brains behind the band. These guys really were monstrously HUGE back in their day and very little had to do with the music. It was serviceable, but their image and live shows(both centered around Simmons) RULED the times...

  3. VR is my favorite(although I love AC/CD and Aerosmith), but you really can't make much comparisons since VR only has a single album out. At this point, considering their age, I just hope VR can have half the longetivity of either of those other bands...

  4. Yes, Heart went soft during the MTV 80's-early 90's like some other bands I won't mentioned, but Nancy Wilson has one of the best voices in rock history, male or female. I think any professional vocal coach would tell you there are very few on par with her, certainly in female rock...

  5. Elan is an incredible talent. Not only as a vocalist, but she composes all her own music and writes all the lyrics as well. I've got both her CD's and can't recommend her enough. Check out songs like Street Child, Jeremy, Like Me and Get Your Blue and you'll quickly see what I mean.

    Do it!

  6. The only album I have is Ten and I love it. What would be a good one to get next?

10 was the best then it went steadily down hill. VS is still strong, but by the time you get to riot act... ew

I agree. Ten was by far the best IMO, but VS is still pretty stellar. But I never listen to the stuff after that...

  7. Dude, didn't you just do this same poll a week or 2 ago?

    My bad I'm forgetful

I remember because I responded. Double Live Gonzo was a favorite growing up and Great White Buffalo RULES. But I haven't listened to any Nuge in a loooong time. He's an interesting cat, to say the least, but as far as his music some of it did seriously ROCK...

  8. OR

    none of them are overrated

Haha, no shit! Slash, Angus Young, Clapton and Hendrix ain't exactly a great starter list of overrated guitar players. Man, oh man...

thats actually a great list of overrated guitar players

Any list of overrated guitar players with Hendrix on it sucks. Period.

  9. Double Live Gonzo rocked growing up(haven't listened to it in years since I had it on cassette). Great White Buffalo rules...

But regardless of party affiliation, I really, really HATE IT when musicians get overly political. Such a fuckin turnoff. I love that Matt quickly told Scott to shut the fuck up when he started to give little speeches at shows pre-election. And Scott did, to his credit.

Shut the fuck up and rock...or go into politics because I'm not heavily consuming before a show so I can get your take on world events. The Nuge, Pearl Jam, etc. end up looking self-important and frankly, ridiculous, IMO.

  10. Bo's very good and very cool. But only Paula would've picked I Can't Get No Satisfaction for him, doesn't fit his voice at all. That was by far his weakest of the night as it was all performance and not good vocally. Not his fault, just a bad song for him, IMO...

  11. Hendrix was a complete stud. not overrated at all, IMO. Completely different era so you have to keep that in mind when comparing to those who came after him. On just about anyones top 10 list, I bet most, if not all, of those guartists would say they were influenced by Hendrix. He and Slash are the shit...
