RJ88
not sure how many people will care about this....Hello everyone. I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008. Exciting times, indeedposted on http://www.nin.com/thoughts?

Exciting times, indeedposted on http://www.nin.com/thoughts?I'm not a big fan, but it's always good when an artist can get free from the stranglehold of the labels. Look at what Radiohead has done with their new album-it is now entirely possible to release a successful album without corporate backing. Once more artists start to realize this, the quality of music will just get better and better since they no longer have to cater to faceless multinational corporations. AtariLegend
Good man Trent, now just move away from the year zero shite...He'll probably be moving closer to it now, now that he doesn't have to cater for the majority.

The Sandman
Awesome - I hope it gets the exposure and whatnot it deserves.I thought you meant genrewise by the title, and I nearly cried
kevdo242
Well, they aren't now 'indie'. They don't even need a record company. Just look at Radiohead. Its interesting how the industry has changed. Now the control is within the artist.EDIT: Oh, I get it. I thought you meant indie, as in signed to an indie company. Didnt think you meant independent. appetite for illusions
Yes the promotion for Year Zero was awesome, very well executed. Hopefully Trent can take the whole music industry into a new direction.
