I've always enjoyed them since the lyrics tend to make more sense and it's interesting to see how the plot developes. dirtylenny Posted April 26, 2009 Share Posted April 26, 2009 its something you have to toe a fine line with in terms storyline or it'll become very difficult to express and be like...cogent. At the same time if its too simple it comes off as a little bit ridiculous. I think the basic meat and potatoes has to be simple and the intracacies are like an interpretive thing...it works best that way i think. It seems to be a very simple, but complex written, story about suicide, but I've I've read many far-out interpretations, involving existencialism, Sartre and several Enlightenment philosophies and ideologies. The Mars Volta have also written a downloadable .pdf-storybook, that made things even more confusing. I haven't got the time to try to read between the lines, analysing and interpreting the lyrics yet, but I'm very interested.
