GET OFF AXLS BACK
So a friend came to me with an issue, he has possession of a University laptop with Windows 2000, needless to say he didn't come by it legally and doesn't have password or user name and can't exactly go to the University for a new set of details. He had figured out a way to bypass the login using a sequenced set of steps i can't recall but on reboot it reverts back to original login screen. He asked me to help and i declined, not my thing and helping a thief isn't either. However his problem peaked my interest so i was wondering if it can be done and how?.For the record i don't plan on doing it and i don't advocate doing it for illegal reasons but the technical aspect interests me. SunnyDRE
You can have the password removed.there are a couple of apps that you put on floppy or load throw usb that work.
GET OFF AXLS BACK
Thanx Sunny but i was thinking more of a sequence, you know hands on then removing the password feature all together or getting past that then disabling it

Max™
Mostly people don't put root admin passwords on the computer - so for the username put in Administrator and just press enter.Once in, click Start > Run and type: userpasswords2Press enter. You can then change the password for the standard user in question without requiring the previous password. In XP, boot into safe mode first and you will get the "Administrator" popup beside your username.Alternatively, just format it from scratch. Theres probably lots of shite on it anyway.
