GnRIzzy
I know how you feel man. I bought my Les Paul Special Edition II as my first guitar. I bought some good DVD's from guitar center, so my suggestion is order some DVD's for lessons, they worked for me. I've been playing for 3 years, I only play Les Paul's nothing else. I got my Les Paul Epiphone with the pick-ups Slash uses. The Spider III amp which has all the presets for songs. Try songs like Beat It, The Zoo, and Panama. Those are the first 3 songs I learned. Also try Eye of a Tiger and Smoke On The Water.
mrandyk
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I have the next few days free so I can just bum around playing guitar all day. These last few days I have had to work almost non stop, but I was working with a a guy I know who knows how to play guitar and he gave me a few pointers. Maybe I should quit that job as it is getting in the way of me being a rockstar. My fingers dont typically hurt anymore from playing since they have grown some calices, but towards the beginning they got so sore I had to take a day off.
