What surprised you most about the UYI albums? How did you feel about the new directions?

For those of us who were around and old enough to buy albums in 1991, did the Use Your Illusion albums surprise you with the change in direction/musical experimentation, when compared to AFD? What was your initial reaction to the albums?

For newer fans who heard AFD first, and then afterward heard the Illusions--how about you? How did you feel about it?

I recall standing In line at midnight, waiting In anticipation for the albums and truthfully It was an amazing time and an amazing event. I listened to those albums for years and to be quite honest, I actually prefer them over appetite. To this day, 21 years after the release, use your illusion 2 remains In the CD player of my car.
