Marc, next time you see Slash or Duff

Recommended Posts

Or even Axl or Izzy (!), can you ask them if the drum machine demos were recorded at the Hellhouse (this would have been, '86-87?). We have..

- Crash Diet (Arkeen on lead guitar)

- Sentimental Movie (Duff singing)

- Bring it Back Home (definitely Slash on this one)

- Just Another Sunday (Axl ballad)

- Too Much Too Soon

- Yesterdays

- The Garden

- Bad Obsession (Izzy singing)

They all have a drum machine and all sound somewhat similar (quite vibrant acoustic guitars which sound like they have just been plugged directly into the board as opposed to being miced up).

They also nearly all have Arkeen involvement (co-writer of Crash Diet, Sentimental Movie, Y, G, BO) who was the lease-holder of the Hellhouse. And all sound like they were recorded in a house as there is plenty of background noise (tv or radio). Now Slash's book says Del James's room had a home recording studio.

It is something that has puzzled me for years. Most of the bootlegs say, 'Rumbo, Canoga Park, 1990' but I am not sure that I believe that now. I actually really like them. I play them a lot.
