Projected
Pop is not actually a music style.Pop=Popular music.Eminem is pop. Britney Spears is pop. You can't say they make the same kind of music.Guns n' Roses was the pop of the early nineties. Boy/Girl bands were the pop of the late 90's. Hip Hop is today's pop.So saying Oasis or Pink Floyd can't be labeled as pop is wrong. Back when Pink Floyd ruled the world, they were as much pop as 50 Cent is today. obscurity on to the dream
the beatles wrote perfect pop songs, sweetchild of mine is a great pop song.this thread just proves how ignorant people are.projected, i think pop is used for both the description of the style of music, and the popularity factor.so when i say the most perfect flawless pop songs, I basically mean the most perfect songs that appeal to a wide range of people that are actually brilliant peices of music at the same time.so when the stupid fucker in this thread mentioned backstreet boys, again this shows how ignorant you are.. a pop songs by the beatles is far more relevant than a pop song by some shit boy band. IndiannaRose
I'd say Michael Jackson and Madonna have produced the most perfect "Pop" songs in this day n' age. (I'm referring to "Pop" as a musical sound btw). Madonna's Ray Of Light and Like A Prayer are Pop perfection in my opinion, where as Michael Jackson songs can appeal to almost anyone of any age. Songs like Black And White, Beat It, and Billie Jean have just progressed through time as well. I've seen that pretty much the artists that experiment with a variety of musical styles are the most popular as they are the ones that can appeal to wider audiences successfully. Ofcourse, there will never be a "perfect" Pop song. Not everybody is gonna like that song, but you can get pretty damn close to it. I'd say The Beatles and Michael Jackson are two of the most universal artists in modern day music history. It's a pretty damn hard thing to accomplish.(Wow an intellectual post from the jokester. ) Edited December 14, 2004 by IndiannaRose
