Duffan
I was just listening to some people and the radio the last few weeks and people are really talking up the Green Day album as the biggestand most important in rock music in years , Some have already put it on a plane with albums like , AFD , Nevermind , Back in Black , DSOTM , Master of Puppets , and albums of the like I thought that was a bit extreme , what are you're thoughts ? I personally believe GD's "major" album was released 11 yrs ago . Peace GnR Nation
kevdo242
I've listened to it. Its not that special. I think if all the new Green Day fans heard their old stuff, then they would like the old stuff better.

Axls Rocket Queen
I think it's one of their worst albums. And trust me, I've heard them all, my friend loves them. Warning's much better IMO

Garden Of Eden
Not a fan of Green Day at all. I have heard the album though and I do not think that it deserves to even be catigorized with those names. Green Day are great artists no doubt, but it doesn't deserve to be in that group right now. Maby in a couple years and you can get a better look of how many album sales.
mr-fukaji
I used to like green day, not now, it's a pop band<{POST_SNAPBACK}>they've always been a pop band, moreso since dookie was released, I.E 'popular' with the media, mass fans etc, its also in the writing style, there's a 'pop' influence, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, middle 8, chorus, the basic structure to any song using the classic 'pop' formula, same goes for any band, it might not be evident in the sound, but if you're using that formula and refusing to play around with it, there's a pop influence in your music, like it or not, not saying that bands like anal cunt sit round listening to atomic kitten, but there's the defenite 'pop' influence in everything using it. green day - they've always called themselves pop punk and would be the first to admit it.and anyway, pop music can be great, not meaning the backstreet boys and that, check out dressy bessy and go! sailor. fuck all yall

Rick
It's a very good album, their best since Dookie.Legendary, not quite.I actually consider very few albums legendary.R.
Maddergascar
Only time will tell. It's certainly the most successful album in recent years. I can't think of any album for a long time that has produced so many catchy hit singles. That's got to be worth something. This is what I think it has going for it:- There best set of catchy tunes since Dookie - It's still the same pop punk, but the progressive elements make this album standout- The politics make it a statement of our times; no one else is doing that. Lot's of people are going political, but to my mind only GD and SOAD actually know what they're talking about.Let's not forget; it was catchy radio friendly tunes that got AFD to the top. Why are we equating popularity with quality? Why are we comparing them to bands like Soundgarden; you could at least compare to a similar genre! Everyone's giving their opinions but no reasons. Appetite18
American Idiot was a pretty good album but far from legendary. It worked pretty well for a rock opera but its not The Wall or anything.
