However after the merger of Geffen and Interscope it was dropped, along with the work of any artist deemed to have sold insufficient units in their time with the label. (In Duff’s case this decision rested entirely on the success of a single earlier solo album, 1993’s Believe In Me.) However before work on the album was abandoned promotional copies were created and sent out. They received excellent reviews from journalists before finding their way into the bootleg market.
