Jealous is putting it mildly. He sounds pretty damn vicious and pissed off to me, for whatever reasons.
That said, I've talked about this to @killuridols and @Andy14 before and I'm not completely disregarding what he's saying. Especially since there is another guy who had a similar story to tell about Axl.
Reading the other thread I got the impression that some people can't picture Axl doing this kind of thing, probably because of the rather homophobic attitude he used to display back in the day.
But as @Blackstar pointed out in the other thread, something like this might even be the reason (or part of the reason) for his behavior.
IF what Michael Jagosz and Guy #2 are saying is true, then Axl probably felt pretty insecure and embarrassed about it (maybe he was even terrified of the whole thing coming to light once he started to become famous), so he might have tried to act even more macho-manly-aggressive and "pro-heterosexual" (as he once called it) to compensate for that.
In that case, poor cupcake. Where's the blankets and the soup?
5 hours ago, dgnr said:Just want to give a shout out to the European tour, can't believe it's over It was awesome, wasn't it?! I felt that these shows were different, it felt like I went to more than one show cause at almost every show we had a women's thread representative, who after wrote amazing reviews - not like the regular show reviews but something customized to the thread. I loved that. And I loved that some of you got to met the guys and told us everything afterwards
Anyway, it was great, I'm sad it's over. As someone said previously, Europe is good to Axl - he leaved his room to take pics with fans ffs - so Axl, if you're not thinking to move your ass to our little land for good, come back next year
That gif...He totally considered it for a awhile
Beautifully said.
And yes, he totally considered it It's just his damn sickness that got in the way

And baby Duff ......I have such a crush on him. Not my fault the blond giraffe is full of hotness. His eyes are intimidating though. If I ever meet the man in person, I don't think I could look him straight in the eyes because they scare me. Just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable.
Grace and Duff look very similar in some of their childhood pictures. That said, I can see both of their parents in each of them.
And I always thought his eyes looked warm and kind for the most part lol.

So I don't think he wasn't too happy about that, that's an ignorant assumption you made. And he released a real solo album and did many guest spots on records of other artists. Just because you're not too happy with his career after GnR, doesn't mean he isn't. If Slash would retire tomorrow and he looked back on the music he put out, I'm sure he doesn't feel like he wasted too many years, except for maybe some of those years when he was fucked up on something or other and therefore didn't get much work done. That's all I'm trying to explain to you, but you have a hard time understanding this.
I'm sure he would feel proud of all the albums he's put out, but I don't buy him being completely happy about the situation either.
Slash did everything from refusing to go on stage with Duff, Steven and Izzy to celebrate an AfD anniversary (for fear of pissing Axl off) to showing up at Axl's house in the middle of the night to mend fences. He was extremely careful concerning Axl in his book and usually refused to take any bait journalists offered him to badmouth Axl. And he clearly was down for the reunion as soon as Axl called. And that's just off the top off my head. If Slash really had been completely satisfied and happy with his solo career, he wouldn't have tried so hard to stay on Axl's good side (or at least to not make the situation any worse) in hopes of a future reunion of some sort.
Back on topic: That's great. November Rain isn't exactly my favorite GNR song, but it is cool to see so many people have watched the video and like my favorite band.
And I vote for the trilogy videos being amazing. Of course they're over the top and cheesy and ridiculous, but that is what makes them great in my opinion. It's part of their charm lol. And I agree, Axl should feel proud of them and stand behind what he created.

However, looking at the GIF, it looks like Axl was either thinking about it for a second or he was flattered by the offer hence the amusement in his eyes and the little smile he gave before turning his head.
No, I agree, that's what it looked like to me too. Obviously I'm biased as hell, but....

My English is far from good enough to capture the essence of those wonderful days
Came back to Denmark yesterday, and now I'm sick, just a cold, but I blame Axl of course. He must have infected me, when he signed my arm (and stole my pen). Another reason to talk with him again
All in all I just wanted to say, I I had the best days of my life, met the best people in the world (Axl included) and really looking forward to doing it all again someday in the future. I hope soon is the word
Thank you!
Sucks that you got sick though. I was convinced I would get sick as well after being in the rain and my cold wet clothes for so long, but so far everything seems to be fine.
But like @Sekh-met said, try to think of the fact that you're probably sick from Axl's germs right now That's a special bond with Axl you share now that not many people have

True It didn't exactly taste like I expected and not really like wine either lol, but it wasn't that bad actually.
It was drinkable and would quickly get me drunk if I had more of it. I can see why they liked it so much back in the day.
Anyway, here's some Duff cuteness to balance out all the Slash and Axl talk recently. I'm guessing this one is from Vienna:

At the end of the day, I don't know them, never will. I'm just here for the music.
But why is it "disgusting, despicable, degrading and disappointing" to you? You're not the one who has to have sexual relations with a stranger.
I'm assuming no one (or almost no one) here, male or female, would ever consider prostituting themselves for money, because most people have an inherent aversion towards the idea of engaging in sex-work themselves (though there are of course a few women and men who claim to be doing this voluntarily and to enjoy their chosen field of work, but those are the exception).
Keeping this in mind, consider this: How desperate, drug-addicted, mentally unstable or otherwise damaged by life do you have to be to even consider to sell yourself to random people (doesn't matter if it's old cougars or male pervs)?
When I think of Steven or Axl (or anyone in the band) doing that, I don't feel disgusted or disappointed. I only see kids/young adults (because they would have been between 12 and 23 or so when these things took place, going by what we know*) who spend too much time on the streets, with a complete lack of familial support and parental supervision, and affected by mental health issues, trauma, etc. struggling to get by... Not all that different from all the other runaways, homeless kids, foster kids, drug-addicted kids and so on who are doing exactly the same thing right now all over the world. The only thing I feel for those kids is empathy and that their families and society at large failed them.
*I don't know if Steven engaged in this kind of behavior again during his post-GNR days, though it wouldn't surprise me. But the incidents we do know about (or that are rumored to have happened) happened when the guys were all still pretty young.

Yeah, me too. I swear I read an interview over a decade ago in which Steven said that he and Slash used to turn tricks for money.
I remember this because I was a kid back then and was still learning English. I had no idea what the phrase "turning tricks" meant and had to look it up.
I was shocked when I found out lol.
It's been burned into my brain ever since. I've never managed to find that interview again though.

Omg, I remember this! Talk about a blast from the past. This video used to be posted a lot on various sites back in the day when I was still a kid lol. Together with these clips of Duff playing a vampire in some TV show.
For some reason these videos of Slash and Duff failing at acting were very popular back then and also some of the few GNR videos (outside of music videos or show videos) available of the guys in the dinosaur age of the internet.

Omg @Andy14 you already found a video and made GIFs! I can't stop looking at them
Anyway, show review:
As @killuridols said, @Andy14, @Hejanne, @Sekh-met and me attended the show together. Not much happened on that day before the show except that it was unbearably hot. But @Sekh-met had bought an actual bottle of Nightrain some time ago and she was kind enough to let us try it. Thanks again for that @Sekh-met - it was really cool to try that iconic "wine" and definitely an interesting experience
Then a storm came and turned everything wet. Really, really wet. Everyone waiting in our line was drenched to the bones by the time we got into the stadium (except Andy because she was smart enough to bring a raincoat). At some point it even started hailing and Andy and me were looking at each other like "Why are we doing this to ourselves?!"
Everything being wet and slippery was awful, but on the bright side, @Hejanne (who got in earlier than us thanks to @domino graciously giving her her early entrance ticket) was a true hero and saved us a spot at the rail and we joined her there. Very grateful to both of you
While waiting for GNR to come on, we made our banners ( @Sekh-met and @Hejanne did a great job writing the banners on wet cardboard and cramped in the middle of the crowd!), hoping we'd get a chance to show them to Axl. Which is really difficult because Gio and his spies are always watching and immediately take everything away from you as soon as they see you have something. And at the same time Axl of course also needs to be in front of you. Finding a moment where Axl is in the right position and Gio and his spies are gone or not looking is more difficult than it sounds because they're patroling around like tigers
Anyway, during the first song, Axl and Slash were standing in front of us and both were laughing and smiling at us (we suspect Axl saw Hejannes new tattoo of Axl's signature and maybe Slash also recognized Andy from last time he met her). Now seeing Axl so happy is great and lovely to see, but seeing Slash laugh is rare, since he's usually off in his own world and concentrated on playing guitar. I figured them both starting the show off so happily was a good sign.
The show was indeed amazing. They sounded great, they all were in a good mood and I got to hear UTLH and Patience, which I hadn't heard before on this tour. I don't know what else to really say about it, so here's some random things I remember:
- Axl said something about lightening hitting their equipment (I think? something like that anyway) and told us to be careful (as if we could do anything about it lol). At some point during the encore the big screens stopped working (probably due to all the rain).
- Axl did a lot of funny little movements and dances.
- Slash and Axl were touching a lot. Just these casual little touches they usually do, but I saw them do that a lot more than in Munich. There was also some Daxl touching going on.
- Duff. Duff Duff Duff He was just the sweetest. More than anyone else he spent a lot of time right in front of us and smiling at us and making funny faces at us. People often say Axl looks better in reality than in pictures, but Duff does as well. We yelled his name and cheered for him whenever he came and he rewarded with us the most adorable smiles.
- The best part imo though was when we showed Axl our banners. During KOHD, there finally was a chance to do it and @Andy14, who clearly has balls (or ovaries?) of steel, bravely picked up our first banner (the one below) from the floor and we held it up. Axl saw it, read it, and laughed. I'm so happy that we could make him laugh And we did it in a very Women's Thread-themed way too So I think we did the thread proud lol. (Unfortunately though, he didn't comply with our request @dgnr )11 hours ago, Andy14 said:- We showed him the second banner (which said "Axl, wanna after-party with us?") at the end of the show during PC and Axl read it and gave us the side-eye in a "Who the hell are these crazy people? They're not even intelligent models"- way . Gio saw the banner too, but at this point he was just too over it to care (after all, he'd already had a long evening of threatening and pulling out people behind him). He just looked at us all exasperated and was like "Whatever. The show is over anyway."
After the show we went to the guys' hotel to see if there was anything going on there. Apparently, they'd come back straight after the show and were already inside and not planning to come out anymore. Talked to the hotel doorman a bit and he said that Axl was really exhausted and went straight to his room to sleep (sounded unlikely at first, but might have been true after all considering the health issue). The guy also said Axl ordered breakfast for ten in the morning, told us when they'd leave and that Axl would probably take a "walk around the block" again between that and breakfast (doesn't really sound like Axl either lol). That doorman was weirdly fond of Axl (which I liked, since people usually like to talk so negatively about him). He kept saying how nice Axl was and that Axl was cool for signing autographs and taking pictures with fans because all of the younger rock and pop stars staying at their hotel never do that.
Anyway, after having our own little "afterparty" in front of the hotel for a while, we went inside the hotel and had some expensive drinks at the bar until the bartender politely told us to fuck off lol. Melissa, Kat, Jordan the personal trainer and some other GNR crew people were hanging out at the bar as well. We also met @domino there and chatted for a while. It was cool to hang out at their fancy hotel for a bit.
All in all, I had an amazing time thanks to the amazing people I was with and our amazing guys of course. Couldn't have been better
------
About the sickness thing:
A doctor came to the hotel before the show and also the day after the show.
So the day after the show, @Andy14 and I talked to Beta and asked her about Axl's health (among other things). Apparently Axl recently had the flu and was worried about the rain making it worse again and making everything slippery.
So, going by what Beta and the hotel doorman said, I figure Axl is the sick one that the doctors were here to see on both days.
But I also saw the whole Meegan at the pharmacy thing, so who knows, maybe Meegan really was buying meds for Axl or Axl infected Slash and they're both sick now

It's oddly comforting to hear Axl shout at security again, ya know?
But yeah, I would also love to see the immediate reaction on Duff and Slash's face when he started shouting.
I didn't realize he talked some more after his little blast from the past moment.
So he was watching out for a little girl?
That's great of him and very sweet. Aww

Those kind of "fans" are the reason why I hate the word "fan" and prefer to call myself "being into their music" etc. It is beyond cringeworthy and I didn't follow all the content and who said what to who.
And to the voices: Hate 'em too. Always have. I think it signals some kind of "damsel in distress" helplessness and thus alures to macho guys. Only my little theory. Never like Erin's voice either. Haven't noticed anything about Susan's voice but than again am not sure whether I heared her voice.
The "rent a boy" foto is lovely. They are so perfectly different from each other and all so fucking cute and handsome. They do look like a perfectly casted boyband for the rock'n roll sleazy kinda taste. Slash looks in that one too much of a hooker for my liking, I'd prefer Axl or Izzy. lol. Also reminds me of our "Dude looks like lady" discussion from weeks ago, mostly about Axl though.
And: the Paris crowd looks AWESOME! Next time I'll go there. (Ooops, did I say next time? Dear me...! )
Right?!
I've always felt the same way. They do indeed look like some casted rockband, specifically made for the girls who feel like the guys in boybands are too tame and boring.
There's at least one for every taste (or four in my case lol).
I agree with everyone else about the voices too... Susan can talk normally if she wants to, but she does the baby voice thing a lot as well.
Anyway, this still from yesterday's encore video gives me feels
Axl and Slash hugging in front of a huge cheering crowd. Who'd have thought we'd ever get to see anything like that again only a few years ago?

The only way for Axl's fragile ego to accept playing with Slash and Duff again is if everyone pretends this is just a natural progression of the band. Reuinion? What reunion?
It must sting for Axl though, to look out into those stadiums night after night and see a mass exodus of piss breaks and beer top-ups whenever they perform Better or This I Love.
As if 99,9% of the people posting about "Axl's fragile ego" wouldn't act exactly the same way in his situation. Not wanting to admit or feel like you wasted a large part of your life on something that wasn't as well received as you'd hoped for is pretty standard human behavior. People always try to down-play or present their regrets and mistakes in a different light, be it in an ordinary situation like a job interview or a more unusual one like this one. Obviously there'll be a huge amount of guys now claiming they'd have the balls to own their failures and be honest, but yeah... I'll believe it when I see it
Apart from that, Axl doesn't seem to just "accept" playing with Slash and Duff, he seems absolutely thrilled to be playing with them again. The joy and happiness on all of their faces while playing are real.
And the last sentence is simply not true in my experience. People in the back left and wandered around through any song that wasn't one of the "big hits" (whether it was Coma, Better, Double Talking Jive or TIL) and people in the front stayed and cheered for each and every song. And Axl didn't seem to be looking at a "mass exodus of piss breaks and beer top-ups", he was looking at the fans and smiling and pointing at us. But iirc, you haven't actually gone to any of the shows, so it appears to me as if you're just making up shit to support your argument.
Back on topic:
Slash is wonderful. Watching him play is mesmerizing because he is one with the music and off in his own world.

I dont understand the Italy reference and that user joy she mentions... what does she mean? That woman is effing clueless... Meegan does not mean to take up Kat's role at all. Right. There've only been a million pictures and videos from this tour alone where they're goofing around and smiling and laughing at each other.
They're not going to start making out on stage, but they're getting along better than anyone could have ever hoped for only a couple of years ago and that's all that matters.
12 hours ago, AlexC said:Then we get to your description of Slash and all becomes clear. It's pretty obvious that you're just a MASSIVE Slash fan-boy and are attempting to disguise your bias with faux legal jargon. And you almost succeed.
Unfortunately your weird, homo-erotic hatred of Axl gives you away repeatedly through that whacky 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' style essay.
You scare me.
I agree. It's all rather scary if you read closely, but that one post (it seems to be gone now?) directed at @Oldest Goat was seriously creepy.
12 hours ago, Blackstar said:I don't think so. Most of the information/legal stuff JustanUrchin (from now on: "the fellow poster") provides or references (which is much less than the impression made by the amount of legal jargon used) is on public domain and available online for everyone who's interested (e.g. the 1992 MoU or "partnership agreement" as well as legal documents regarding the managing of assets, licensing, merch etc - someone here had posted links to these documents a while ago) and the rest is, I believe, easily accessible to someone working in or having some association to the law field in the US.
As for the beef with Axl etc... It's this type of fan that thrives in the GnR fandom more, I think, than in any other, mainly because of Axl, whose persona has had such powerful effect (to the extent that, sometimes, the fans can be a reversed reflection of him subconsciously adopting some of his ways and traits) and aroused strong love/hate emotions. So there's this group of fans that "hate" "the singer" wholeheartedly, mostly not because of what he has really done and his past sins (this doesn't justify the amount of "hatred"), but because he didn't live up to the ideal image they made of him and to what they fantasized him to be (the rock 'n' roll incarnation of the American dream or whatever it was in this fellow poster's case); and then, the idolization was replaced by devaluation and throwing stones at the idol. Yet, they bought tickets to see "the singer's" new band... In a way, these fans remind of that biker guy from the St. Louis riot, who, after the trial and all that had happened asked Axl for an autograph.
----------
People in this forum have come up with narratives (many times based less on solid facts/information and more on fantasy depending on how each one feels about the band members - Axl mostly) about the current status and future of the band as well as about the reasons why there's no full reunion. So has this fellow poster. His narrative, the core of it, contradicts what seems to be the prevalent perception here (i.e. that Slash and Duff merely joined Axl's band and they're more or less his employees). According to the facts-based part of it, the partnership that never ceased to exist legally has been reformed as a touring band/entity. So far so good, as all things (e.g. the separate management) point to that there is an arrangement/mutual agreement, a form of partnership, with Slash/Duff having a say on the whole business. This is not enough, however, for the fellow poster; there has to be a winning and a defeated party in this story, and the latter has (of course) to be "the singer", so that the fellow poster's fantasy is satisfied: "the singer" must pay for the "piano hybris" that destroyed the macho American band of the fellow poster's dreams. Thus, he expands the narrative with a story line (enhanced with poor -and at times distasteful- tropes, metaphors and imagery) in which "the singer" crawled and begged Slash and Duff, and now he's powerless, a pathetic shadow of his former self. Justice has triumphed.
Not quite, though. There are little problems in the story line that the fellow poster has to deal with without being inconsistent. First of all, the absence of Izzy and Steven: the fellow poster can't blame it solely on "the singer" without contradicting himself. This is an easy one; it seems that Slash, and especially Duff, have fallen off the hero status (although not as much as "the singer") as their current political preferences are unpleasant to the fellow poster. So, in the case of Izzy, it can all be attributed to the joint greed of the three.
But what about Steven? Money is not the issue with him. The possibility that all three partners may question his reliability is ruled out , as Izzy and Steven are the only members the fellow poster still holds in high regards. And what about the fact that the rest of the touring band consists of members of "the singer's" band? How does the fellow poster cover this plot hole in his story? It being a result of compromise between the three partners doesn't fit with the narrative that wants "the singer" crawling and defeated. The fellow poster had to come up with another explanation. And what the explanation was? That the reason Frank was preferred over Steven is the color of his skin, because the band wants to appeal to non American audiences; and Melissa is there for similar reasons, because she is female. In other words, according to the fellow poster, the reason Steven isn't there is because he's white blond and male. The ridiculousness of this argument overshadows even the "subtle" racism behind it, also present in some of the fellow poster's other posts.
I wish I could give you a million likes for this post
This is what true intelligence looks like, ladies and gentlemen.
The ability to see through thinly-veiled personal and political bias and point out the plot holes and underlying issues beneath the pretty packaging.
I more or less agree with everything you wrote, but especially the bolded. There's nothing new or insightful in these posts that any other GNR fan with enough time on his hands and enough dedication to study the legal documents available (and then write lengthy posts about it) couldn't have come up with. At the end of the day, it's still just personal bias, only wrapped in legal lingo. (And that's not even touching on the problem of using contracts and other legalities to draw conclusions and make definitive statements about the band and its members, since you know... they're human beings and not machines, they have feelings and don't always act in perfectly rational ways, and they can change their minds about any issue at any time.)
And thanks for mentioning how distasteful some of the presented tropes and imagery are (both in the GNR-related posts, and even more so in the post(s) following afterwards). I felt exactly the same way while reading. Implying Melissa and Frank are simply there because they're Asian/female/black/whatever was the cherry on top after all the Axl-related nonsense (and Duff and Slash-related nonsense, to a lesser extent). I also felt like my eyes were going to get stuck in my head from rolling them too much if I had to read "The singer... the singer... the singer... the singer..." one more time. Jesus Christ

I wouldn't want that because they have notourisly a tumultous relationship off stage and i don't think the slaxl relationship can sustain that kind of stress, they're not like that, i prefer the material we get with a friendly relationship outside of stage, less stress, than a Toxic Twins-esque relationship tbh
I agree.
Also, sorry to all Joe Perry/Steven Tyler/Aerosmith fans, but I just find these two really, really ugly lol. I mean, I like their music, but I don't exactly want to picture doing them anything else
11 minutes ago, Asia said:I actually much prefer early Slaxl Btw, I don't know if you watched that Troubadour show and if you know what the actual context was for the fragment from 1:54 was:
Axl was singing Jumping Jack Flash and was adding their names to the lyrics, so he was singing "Slash was drowned, he was washed up and left for dead" (I think it was this line that was attributed to Slash) and as soon as he finished singning this part he immediately hugged Slash like that (let me guess it reminded him of some real-life scary situation). That was really spontaneous and sweet...
I didn't know that actually!
That's very sweet. I could see your theory being true, especially since Slash tended to pass out in unfortunate places and situations a lot. Who knows, maybe Axl was just messing around and being silly with the song lyrics and then unintentionally dragged up some scary memories or emotions. So he then had to cling to Slash a bit to comfort himself.

Is there a fan obsession for Tyler/Perry as there is for Slaxl? Are fans that crazy with any band?I'd say so. If you look around the internet, you can find fanfiction and fanart for nearly any band that has "shippable" guys in it. Places like rockfic.com have tons of bands listed. Iirc, Metallica used to be very popular for this kind of thing as well (probably still is).
Also (or even especially) applies to boy bands lol. I've noticed the kids who are into One Direction on Tumblr seem pretty obsessed with pairing up two particular band members as well. The one guy that always hangs out with the McKagans and wanted to play Axl in a GNR movie (what happened to that anyway?) and the other guy who's name I can't remember seem to be the main pairing.
(Before anyone crucifies me, I swear to
SlashGod I'm not a One Direction fan, I merely noticed while hanging out on Tumblr )1 hour ago, Andy14 said:YES! Why the hell is there too much clothing? He only needs white shorts, a kilt, shoes, a bandana and a mesh shirt

By the way, did anyone understand what Axl says here after he tickles Slash around 3:20? Can't make it out...
I think the consensus back when that video first appeared was that Axl is saying "(he) ignores me." I just listened to it again, and yep, it still sounds like "ignores me" to my ears.
8 hours ago, Asia said:But then why would they take all of them away, which I guess they do? Unlikely that "We love you" or something would set Axl off... Also Axl hasn't shown a smallest sign of irritation on stage for the last two years, so no need for that much caution, I'd say...
7 hours ago, MillionsOfSpiders said:There is a pattern here though. Axl notices and acknowledges the sign.. couple of minutes later here is mr security to snatch it away and rip it up.
I think that is odd.
Not necessarily.
In Munich, they immediately took the banner from the woman next to me when she started to hold it up. Long before Axl even had a chance to see it.
And it was a completely harmless banner too (it only said "Greetings from...").
So I do think that there seems to be a general "no banners" policy in place, no matter what's written on the banner.
And I also think that they actually are concerned about people having a good view and being able to enjoy the show. Like I described in my review, they carefully watched everyone and as soon as anyone started to become even slightly unpleasant to the people around, they got a warning. If they still didn't stop with their behavior (like that one crazy girl), they pulled them out.
18 hours ago, Tori72 said:I saw the black beard guy in Munich too. He was chatting away with Fernando who was taking pictures of Axl's new girlfriend. He didn't do any thing in Munich and I can't remember people being pulled out during GnR. Maybe that speaks against us Germans being the most boring crowd in the world... who knows
That's because they pulled all the people out on our side and not yours

Ah, wanted to post that in the Wacky Thread and got too excited probably and fucked up. Anyway, enjoy
And there are Axl, Slash, Duff and Steven versions too
Also, I'm apparently so used to seeing Axl in nothing but his underwear that he already looked dressed to me after I only put some boots and a bandana on him

Saaaaaame. You're definitely not alone lol.
UYI II is my favorite GNR album. I love or like everything on that album. (Well, nearly everything. I could do without YCBM, KOHD and Pretty Tied Up)
And after that... I don't know. I like 3 or 4 songs on Appetite, a couple of songs on CD and UYI I, and a few songs from the rest of their releases.
Funnily enough, the UYI albums were also the first GNR albums I bought when I was 14 years or so. Maybe buying them first leaves a lasting impression
13 hours ago, BorderlineCrazy said:I know, I just wanted to make that clear because they were being mentioned and I don't want my previous comment (about being disappointed at certain people) to look as if it was directed at them because it wasn't. It was mainly because of a guy who tends to be one of the most reasonable on the D&N section and another guy who was pretty active in the Women's Thread until a while ago (if my memory serves) and was liking stupid complaints about it there.
Snort. People who like to appear "reasonable" in the D&N section can be pretty nasty and scheming behind the scenes. Or trolls. Or both. As in real life, appearances can be deceiving, I guess.
Anyway, @Archtop here's the full/original version of that picture you asked about. I don't remember ever seeing any other pictures from that night though (at least not with Izzy in them).

Ok, but I have to play my hipster card and this and point out that I've been making that claim for literally 15 years! Every time it comes up I get insulted over and over about how crazy I am for thinking it! This is honest to God the first time in the history of any forum where I've had anyone have a remotely warm reception to the idea lol. Let me put it this way; when I logged into today and saw I had 10 notifications, I thought "Oh shit. Here we go. Everyone is gonna pile on me about The Blues" lol. I was so happy to see otherwise for once.
I've been thinking SoD is about Slash since before CD came out as well, but people back then just weren't ready to hear the truth I guess But yeah, kudos to you for sticking to your opinion for so long against all opposition lol.
I think @Frey or someone else in the WT posted a good analysis of that song once, maybe time to dig that out again...
10 minutes ago, DieselDaisy said:It is a bit bordering on the romantic for it to be about Slash.
To the feelings that I felt
I saved for you and no one else...
I don't know just what I should do
Everywhere I go I see you...
What I thought was beautiful
Don't live inside of you
Anymore(The latter raises the assumption that he did think at one time, ''what he though was beautiful lived inside of Slash''.
'Sorry' however, I have no doubts is about Slash.
All these lines can be seen in a non-romantic sense as well.
"Everywhere I go see you" for example. I've always interpreted that line as Axl seeing Slash everywhere, because Slash literally was everywhere during these years; Slash was out and about working on his career, playing with all kinds of different artists and being very present in the media. Meanwhile, Axl was hiding away at home.
"What I thought was beautiful don't live inside of you anymore" - Axl has made remarks about Slash that fit with that line (like when he talked about not understanding why Slash was throwing away his gifts by playing with people like Michael Jackson). Also, Axl supposedly believing Slash lost his soul fits with this as well.

Yesssss, bring back The Blues/Street of Dreams It's one of my favorite CD songs.
I wish they'd just stop playing TIL and play SoD instead. And also play Madagascar, Prostitute and Slither (or some other VR/Slash songs).
11 hours ago, IncitingChaos said:My favorite part on the album is when the song pauses and you hear Axl's voice break the silence with "What this means to me is more than I know you believe" 2010 Ireland is my favorite for this part. He had the power to bring the meaning to it
Yeah, that's my favorite part too.
16 hours ago, RussTCB said:I remain convinced this song is about Slash and I do not think they'll ever do it with him in the band.
5 hours ago, Jordan Rose said:Whoa. Dude!
You've just blown my fucking mind. I've never heard anyone suggest this before anywhere and it never occurred to me. I always assumed, like seemingly everyone, that is was a Seymour ballad (and the female visuals at past shows and female artwork seemed to back that up). But i've just recited the lyrics in my head and not only do they work in the context of a platonic relationship but they very much make sense in relation to Slash. Completely, in fact. There isn't a single line which requires a romantic relationship.
That's fucking crazy. Cheers, dude!
If you're right this also changes another assumption i've held which is, regardless of Axl's strong assertion to the contrary, that Sorry is specifically sang to Slash (verses) and fans (chorus). I did a line-by-line examination of Sorry a while back showing who it only made sense as directed to Slash, the old band and fans as opposed to a composite of enemies or another person entirely. And another another reason to think that was there just had to be one track specifically about Slash as opposed to the more general Madagascar, Prostitute and Scraped.
But now you've made me realise that SoD could very well be the song specifically directed at Slash that does take Sorry off the hook, along with the fact that they're playing it. (Still can't get past "No lyrics, no melodies. Just shut up and sing, Axl."
Guys...
SoD being about Slash has been discussed and analyzed extensively in the Women's Thread.
Needless to say, many people (at least down there in the Jungle lol) are of the opinion that SoD is about Slash. And they have provided some pretty convincing arguments for that. So yeah, I agree with that interpretation too and yes, unfortunately I could see this being the reason why they're not playing it anymore now that Slash is back.
(Also, SoD is not cheesy TIL and November Rain are cheesy, but SoD... is a sad song about losing Slash and struggling to move on without him.)

I like the concept of that video. Pretty moving (although I personally would have dedicated less time dwelling on the old stuff and a bit more time on the "bitter drama years" and a lot more time on the recent Slaxl stuff). Song choice is great too.
@Asia If you ever do decide to make another Slaxl video, let us know. We can help by posting all of our favorite NITL Slaxl pictures and videos or something Or we could make a list of all the new Slaxl moments out there that could be included.

But hold on a sec, girls...
If Duff dressing like Axl is an indication for Daxl, then what is this?
A "Nobody knows I'm a lesbian" shirt, the bandana with backwards baseball cap combo...
That's not just vaguely Axl-ish (like Duff in his recent pictures), but downright copying Axl's style
See? Slaxl is real
But here's some more (potential?) Daxl for you. Isn't that leather jacket Duff is wearing here Axl's?
Or is my brain just making shit up because it automatically assumes all purple and pink clothing items must belong to Axl?

Whaaaaat? No way.
I was amazed by how hilarious and funny people in Munich were. Like the train drivers, the people who make announcements in subway stations, even the police was funny. I kept thinking "people wouldn't do/say that in Austria" and was pretty amused.

Ever since this whole NITL thing started, Axl has been acting unusually (and disarmingly) sweet.
I mean he had his charming and cute moments in the past too, but there's something different about it now and it's still a bit weird to see him behave like that on a constant basis.

@Tori72 Wonderful review! I'm out of likes at the moment, but I will hit that like button on your lovely post (and a couple of other posts) as soon as I can again.
Reading it took me right back. And looks like you basically had the same spot as me, just on Duff's side of the stage. Loved hearing your perspective from over there. I couldn't see the moment with Duff and his family that you described for example, so I loved hearing what I missed. Very sweet But I think we must have been at different entrances, because there were no guys playing music where I was lol.
5 hours ago, Tori72 said:Anyway, how can I share fotos here? Before and during the Kills I saw Susan and Grace watching and cheering. I don't know why they were all so excited for that band, everyone hated them. When they announced their last song, people cheered first time during their gig.
Yeah, Andrei was really into them too. Or at least he was really into the chick, judging by how many pics and videos he took of her (and only her) People where I was standing cheered as well when she announced her last song, but they'd already kept booing throughout their entire set. I actually felt quite sorry for that woman.
1 hour ago, Tori72 said:And then he did something that completely charmed me. Oh.My.God. So, there was this rather annoying girl that was the total Slash fan but hit the wrong side of the stage because she didn't have a clue. lol She had made herself a tshirt with this really old foto of Axl and Slash. They both look so young and innocent and like the cute little puppies they were, it is heart wrenching. This is the foto she had on her shirt:
So when Axl was singing on his little catwalk she was holding her shirt a little so Axl could have a better look. He actually saw her, looked on the pic, smiled a HUGE smile and pointed at her, waving happily. He even looked back after singing a few more notes and still smiled. So fucking cute. And - people - I have it on camera. I was taking some fotos before that incident began, standing right behind her and just kept clicking away.
Here's Axl with his beautiful smile. And if that little story doesn't make you fall in love with Axl all over again you have no heart. It is so sweet how attentive and observant he was on stage and that he noticed the crazy fan and her pic.
And here he looks back after singing a few more lines towards another direction. You can see the girl still holding up her shirt at the bottom of the pic.
You said you didn't see any Slaxl moments, but that is an amazing Slaxl moment right there!
Imagine if someone had shoved a pic of himself and Slash as little puppies like that under his nose during concert a couple of years ago. His reaction would have been very different probably. But now he seems thrilled about seeing stuff like this
I'm so glad you were there to witness that moment and share it with us. And you even managed to capture it with pictures!
You deserve a Slaxl medal of honor, for outstanding services in the name of this thread
