- To me Slash has the best tone as a lead, I know you guys shit all over Ashba but i agree with a previous poster that his tone live sounds better than the rest of the current line up, for example his part in november rain is the closest to Slash, richard is ok but Rons solo is to high ot too much treble, I would prefer Ashba to do all the solos for NR and also be the lead on Estranged and Ashba does the solo for This I Love great.I never cared for Fink, his solo for TIL is good but he butchered NR solo live.

So Sorry for wasting your time

I didnt say anything was amazing about the current situation, its just a waste of time an energy to bitch and complain to bitch about a band that you like and have no control of what goes on, Do i wish there was more music hell yeah, but you can wish in one hand and wipe your ass with the other one, I like the band and support them, not always happy with the direction but what can i do?

i dont post to often in the forum and I have been a member of this forum for a long time, but this is supposed to be a forum to support your fave band not tear Axl down cause he doesnt look like he did in 1991 or bash the other members of the band old or current. I see the same people over and over going on about Axl's wieght or his voice, Damn he is over 50 years old now no one can expect to look the way they did when they were in there 20s. I dont know Axl personally but i would not blame him for not comming on here anymore, jeeze if i had a site and people constantly bashed me for what i do or what i look like i wouldnt want to interact with them either. I thank you Marc, for all the info you have given and the answers to the questions i have posted. GnR have been my fave band since the late 80s i was lucky to see them in 1992 and hope to see them in any form again. Remember nothing last forever and enjoy what we have.

I am 44 I saw them in 1992 at 3 rivers stadium in pittsburgh with metallica, great show, best show i have ever been too. would like to see the current version of GnR but they never come to pittsburgh when they tour

Marc, do you think that if Slash would have agreed to work on the Steph Seymour ballads Axl was was working on and been more supportive, Axl then would have been more acceptive to what Slash was going to bring in. I mean Slash could have done a killer solo for This I Love even though i thinks Robins solo is good and DJ does a good job at his own interp. So if they both would have compromised on song genres that maybe werent there faviorte to do, they would still be together as a band. Plus we all know that women can cause some pain in our lives at times may be if Slash would have been there it would be different too.

I think Axl is a good song writer, dont bash him becasue some of his lyrics are straight forward, also I think This I love is a great song simple lyrics but strong emotion with the lyrics,i guess if you havent experienced the pain of someone you love betraying you, you will never get it.

Seven is the only confirmed ballad from that list, and that is per Brain, i think 3-4 ballads would be good, with the rest being rockers and up tempo tunes, Having an album of all rockers would be boring, variety is the spice of life. Plus there is only 3 true ballads on CD, This I Love, Street of Dreams, and Madagascar. Catcher and Prostitute have ballad elements but are no full ballads.
-
according to Brain, Seven is a ballad, have no clue what its about though. Also heard that Thyme is also a ballad.

Marc, i want to thank you for answering questions on this forum, about my fave band, whether its from the original days or the current line up, i support the band in all of its line ups, Seeing them in 92 in Pittsburgh with Metallica, was best show i was ever at, and will always remember it. i hope the current version of the band comes to Pittsburgh sometime would love to see them again. GnR rules. peace

Marc do you think that This I Love is a sequel to November Rain, and do you think it is the answer to the video trilogy, the lyrics in the song really relate to the other 3 songs.
-
Thanx, Marc, another question is did the whole band in 93 record This i love or was just it just Axl.
-
Mark, before the illusion albums came out, Slash said in an interview the name of a few songs, perfect crime, back off bitch, and nightcrawler, what happened to nightcrawler, is the low quality demos of it real, thanks

but was read somewhere that Blood in the water is the real title for checkmate
The adamancy you upheld the notion with suggested a source beyond YouTube comments - maybe these "exclusive readings" you are privy to would also quench your desire for knowledge in relation to "Thyme"?
If that was the case I would have never posted about Thyme, sometimes I guess the BRAIN can lead u to knowlege or speculation.

Well with virtually no news on the band all we have is speculation, before CD came out I speculated about This I Love and it was almost exactly as I thought it would be, although I did speculate that Prostitute was gonna be a sleazy rocker, i was wrong about that, but it still is a great song, So speculate away doesnt hurt anything, see whos psychic here lol.

Dj Ashba: The stuff I've written sounds like classic Guns N' Roses
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS

you guys are on Ashba a lot, but his solo part on Nov Rain sounds more like old guns than the other two, Fortus is ok but choppy, and Bumbles tone is too high for the outro, Ashba has the right tone and bends for his part, i wish he did all 3 solos on the song
