I talked about this earlier in regard to “The General,” but I didn’t say it as succinctly as someone else. Axl’s voice seems to transform into a guitar at the end of the song. Some people said it sounded like you couldn’t make out was he saying, and I guess it could be the low quality rip. But I really dig what right now sounds like his vocals melting or transforming into the guitar until it’s indecipherable if what you’re hearing is harmonizing or the actual guitar.

    Me too, love it.

The official release date for "The General" by Guns N' Roses has not yet been announced. The song was originally scheduled to be released as a B-side to the vinyl single "Perhaps" on October 27, 2023, but it was delayed.

There have been no updates from the band since the delay was announced, so it is unclear when "The General" will be released. However, fans are hoping that the song will be released sometime in 2024.

I will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

nothing new, I wrote 7 hours ago that it will be delayed

  4. I asked bard to give me the lyrics to The General too, below the rosponse:

The song's chorus is a warning about the dangers of war:

Watch out here he comes! Grab yourself a gun and run into the fields Using your men as human shields Fighting for yourself and no one else Against your general...against the general

The song ends with the general questioning his own motives and wondering if the war is worth the cost:

Will it end? Do you ever wonder? All this fighting in this century Do you you regret that you ever met me?

  5. I would compare "The General" to the following Guns N' Roses songs:

    • Estranged (Use Your Illusion II): Both songs are slow-paced and atmospheric, with heavy guitar riffs and Axl Rose's soaring vocals. They also both deal with themes of power, destruction, and the human cost of war.
    • You Could Be Mine (Use Your Illusion II): Both songs have a driving rhythm and a sense of urgency. They also both feature powerful vocals from Axl Rose.
    • Civil War (Use Your Illusion I): Both songs explore the themes of division and conflict. They also both have a heavy metal sound.

I think "The General" is a more mature and nuanced song than any of these other songs. It is a song about the duality of power and the cost of war. It is also a song about the human cost of violence and destruction.

  6. Bard interpretation of the song:

I think the song is about the duality of power. The General is a powerful and charismatic leader, but he is also ruthless and destructive. He is feared and respected, but he also leaves a trail of death and destruction in his wake.

The song also explores the cost of war. The General's military campaigns are successful, but they come at a great cost in human life. The song suggests that war is never truly worth the price.

Overall, I think "The General" is a powerful and thought-provoking song about the nature of power and the cost of war.

I hope this proof is satisfactory.

How awesome would it be if the General is in Napoleon.

That movie is going to be watched by many and if it's iconic...many who have followed the band in a while may go...is that Guns N Roses?

    Sounds great!

Agree, the song has a great energy and drive that would be perfect for a battle scene in the film.

  8. bard.google.com response :)

Yes, I have heard the new Guns N' Roses song "The General." It was released on October 25, 2023, as the B-side to the vinyl single "Perhaps."

The song is a classic Guns N' Roses hard rock track, with a driving beat, Slash's iconic guitar riffs, and Axl Rose's soaring vocals. The lyrics are dark and introspective, and they deal with themes of power, corruption, and redemption.

I really like the song. It is a great example of what Guns N' Roses does best: hard-hitting rock music with powerful lyrics. I am excited to hear more new music from the band in the future.

I know to some this can feel like “the end of an era” but the reality is if the General is the last release this year we have only gotten about 1/3 of CD2.

    1. ABSURD

    2. HARD SKOOL

    3. PERHAPS

    4. THE GENERAL

    5. atlas shrugged

    6. state of grace

    7. seven

    8. oklahoma

    9. cuban skies

    10. quick song

    11. soul monster

    12. zodiac

That is A LOT of meat still on the CD2 bone. And this is just the other shit we assume has vocals. There may be a few more we don’t know about.

probably The General & Soul Monster is one song now

This is true. When searching on the Spotify app, the results are affected by this particular account's listening habits (e.g. someone who has listened to GN'R a lot Vs. someone who has never listened to GN'R) and not affected by location (e.g. if the account is originally from the UK and the user goes to France, they'll get the same results).

So, like I said earlier, the safest way to test it is to search not on the app, but on the Spotify webpage here without singing in:

    https://open.spotify.com/search

And then do the same on other devices (preferably devices with no previous GN'R history from on youtube, google searches, visited websites etc.) and you'll most likely get the same results everywhere (that's how it has worked for me). Then do the same with VPN set to other countries and you'll see that the results differ depending on the country.

I opened this link in incognito mode and no song points to Guns n 'Roses anymore.

  11. Also have suspicions Atlas is Catcher.

I don't think so, Atlas Shrugged is a Brain song or was it General?

umm... I don't know... last year Brain had this song called 'the General' that was really cool... and another song called "we were lying [not sure if thats the name he said]" ... I don't know [...] (Dizzy Reed, Sp1at, January 2006)

  12. If you think that a GNR song led by Tommy Stinson couldn't get airplay, then clearly you have no understanding of the renewed relevance of The Replacements. When The Replacements reunited, it was easily more relevant than anything GNR has done in the past five years and perhaps longer.

Most people in North America have never even heard of The Replacements. And none of their songs ever get played on regular radio.

I never heard of the Replacements till someone on this forum talked about it. They must popular in Europe I guess...

I've never heard of them, they are completely uknown in Europe. Probably they are most popular in arctica, definitely not in europe.
