WHEB-FM, a Clear Channel-owned station out of Portsmouth, NH, was playing the demo version of "I.R.S." shortly after 2:00 this afternoon. Earlier this week, both WBCN and WAAF, both Boston based stations, told listeners that the cease-and-desist letters they received forbid them to continue playing both "I.R.S." and "There Was A Time". I'm curious to know if anyone else has heard either demo still being played on FM radio despite the alleged cease-and-desist warnings. Perhaps it has something to do with Clear Channel, whom I personally despise but were the sponsors of GN'R's 2002 tour? Also should mention that after the song ended, the DJ said that Chinese Democracy is set for a March release, though she could not provide a specific date.

I don't think GN'R has to worry about selling tickets this time around, as long as there's a record out by the time touring begins. Motley Crue is a hair band, GN'R is a rock band. Big difference.

But, and just to play devil's advocate here, how many bands could even justify the level of interest for a radio station to even consider playing a demo?
That's a great point. No one would care if these were Bon Jovi or Aerosmith demos. Even if Axl's been out of the public eye for the better part of the last 12 years, it makes quite a statement when his demos are getting radio airplay. To say radio needs new Guns N' Roses is like saying fish need water.

"There Was A Time" is very very good, for a demo. Can't wait to hear the finished version. Definitely makes up for the average "I.R.S."

I hope GN'R can save the sorry-ass state of rock and roll. Axl, we've missed you! We hope you're getting back in the ring for a while.

The last Bon Jovi song I actually liked was "Bad Medicine", from 1988. So what's worse, to not have released a new record in 15 years, like GN'R, or to have put out a number of shitty records in the same span, like Bon Jovi has?
Furthermore, I don't think you'll ever see Axl on Oprah, as Bon Jovi was last fall. Corporate sellout bastard.
