  1. If we had a real full leak or multiple I would be more inclined to be into all this drama, but dudes this clip is sooo not very important. Give me the real stuff.

So are there any talks or more stuff being out there and someone leaking ?

  2. I personally have never understood why so many fans are crazy over OMG and Silkworms, I like any new GNR stuff as much as the next guy but really who would want these two more than other unreleased CD era material we have heard of? I want songs like The General and Soul Monster, you guys can have Silkworms lol. I have always thought that if Silkworms were officially released and sounded similar to the early versions we heard the average/casual music/GNR fan would laugh at it. Not that they should do that, but I always thought they would view it in a very negative light, that chained with the fact that I never liked it I'm glad we never got it at this point.

Anyhow so what's going down with this leak/clip stuff, who's behind it and what is its origin ? i listened to the clip on SoundCloud dont know if anyone else did, but that one guy that has it uploaded on his channel, is some of that other GNR music real? Like I think I heard a Blood in the water mix that said it had Ashba stuff on it, and it was kinda cool in a wacky way, I thought it sounded better than the apparent real one, idk I'm so confused with this remix stuff.

  3. Well to answer the question of the thread, I can't really say I had expectations for the song, I mean after all, we really only had a little bit of info to go off of. I think it was the one music composer that helped do some of the orchestra/string sections on some songs that said (paraphrasing) "prostitute was like fire and ice" or whatever. Well once the full song leaked in 2008 I instantly loved it, and I instantly thought it was Prostitute just from that description, it really played out like that. I remember how people were arguing whether the leak was it or not lol.

Anyways, the one thing I disliked about the final version of the song on the official release was the extra guitar added on, that I felt was kind of needless, and mixed at to high of a volume. I enjoyed the leak more, where you can hear the piano and strings a lot better. Idk just my preference, but i guess it's no big deal for me cuz I can just mix the rock band master tracks to get this result. :)

But yeah I really like the song, it's in my top 5 songs on this album I think I could say.

  4. Axl has covered a hell of a lot of songs live and in studio. As many or more than he's written himself.

I personally enjoy the piano ballads best, so I'll go with "It's Alright" or "Everything."

Thanks for that, didnt know they covered Everything. First time I hear it now and its really good

haha this was one of the covers I couldnt think of, there's another though.

*edit* just thought of it "Only Women Bleed"

  5. So what exactly is this leak talk about right now ?

and yeah I agree if no one is going to share something then I don't really care, unless maybe they are going to speak about the songs in greater detail. Like I would be open to listening if someone wanted to explain how songs sounded and talked about instrument related stuff on said song or told what the track length was, that kind of stuff interests me. But even then how do we know the person is even telling the truth without even a sneak peak clip ?

    I agree.

And even when we have gotten that, did it pan out? Was the album really "Physical Graffiti mixed by Beck"? Was 'Sorry' really "doom metal"?

    haha yeah

I wouldnt give a full review of all those CD era songs yet though, because we have only heard 14 of them, remember Seb Bach supposedly heard 4 albums of songs. So you have to imagine what you might think of the music in its entirety, what if you heard this entire full material in one night ? You might think it did sound like "Physical Graffiti mixed by Beck". As far as the doom metal thing, yeah maybe that was off, but I'm no expert on what exactly doom metal is lol.

Anyway sort of on a side topic, have any of us hardcore GNR fans tried to contact Seb Bach to get him to divulge details on those 4 albums he heard ? Like in terms of him explaining them in detail maybe, like "The General was like 10 minutes long" or "Atlas Shrugged had piano" ect and so forth ? I'm serious about this btw, like recently I've been thinking in a comical way, that Seb Bach has actually told the most publicly about unreleased music really when you think about it. And he seems pretty open about talking about stuff other people would be afraid to speak of, so surely if there were someone we could get info out of it might be him.

  6. On a side note, why is the Halloween party "infamous"?

Way back pre 2000, someone wrote up a story about being invited to Axl's Halloween party...

First thing said was' Some of this is true, some of this is made up, I wont disclose which is which'... Complete dick move

Stories went on about how the band was there playing. I dont rememeber if new songs were played, I just remember a fatser thrashier version of My Michelle was played.

yeah I was about to say, I remember finding a story on the web from like years and years ago where some regular dude (dont remember how he got invited ) went to a Axl halloween party at his house and was like able to bring his wife and kids or something and had a blast. Also I think this guy posted like lots of pictures of him in the yard or something. Seemed pretty cool.

  7. I have always wanted a thread like this, to sum up every cover recorded/recorded demo/or live to make sure I don't miss any.

For me there is no real final answer, but I personally have always loved listening to that one live video of Axl singing Sailing, it just fits his style there so well. Then of course the whole Bohemian Rhapsody thing was awesome for a lot of reasons, but ultimately it was so short, all be it epic. Also I always enjoyed Dust in the Wind, and I always like some of the performances of It's All right on the piano.

KOHD is cool and I like the version on the record, but I think live versions through history are even better. Like the song gets extended live with all that extra stuff, it's a really good "stadium" live song. Who else out there really enjoyed the 2002 style of KOHD btw? I think it was that Leeds show recording that I always found so awesome just like the ambient type mellow style with the backup vocals too and then the buckethead play, also Axl's high pitch worked for me, idk man I just always liked that. But yeah a lot of the KOHD live shows I like.

yeah also I always loved the Free Fallin performance, but did Axl ever do it without Tom ? I wish we had a studio version of this.

um dead flowers I think it pretty good

as far as TSI album I like Aint it Fun and Since I dont have you, plus Sympathy I think was pretty cool in a way.

I'm not a big Stones fan, but I thought Axl did a good job on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t64Sn10D0bo

  8. So what exactly is this leak talk about right now ?

  9. Well obviously the thing I would LIKE to see most is announcing new material, for that matter just even Axl talking about it would be enough. So obviously at this point as most will say when I log on, I hope to see a thread at the top of news about leaks lol. Seriously those good ol leak days several years back, man those were some exciting times to be a GNR fan. I wish I could feel that sense of mystery/excitement/anticipation again being a NuGNR fan :(

If you look at my registration date on this forum you may notice that it coincided with that peak leak period, that was no coincidence, those leaks greatly increased my interest and willingness to follow the news more closely and interact with other GNR fans.

  10. It's one thing if you don't like the progressive style Axl has had (which really started post AFD era) especially since the CD era because obviously then you would not like Buckethead much as a guitarist, but the point is for the style that the CD era was all about I thought Bucket was perfect. Whether it be from his visual element (mysterious never talking faceless man) to his guitar playing in which he is probably the most talented guitarist on Earth, at least on the skill level part of guitar playing. I thought he was a perfect fit for the NuGNR era, and I always say how awesome I thought the 2002 version of the band was, it was just such a unique thing at the time, and mysterious. if they would have kept pushing forward with that band at the time I wonder how the timeline maybe would have changed? I have always pondered this.

  11. I've gone in depth about this topic in the past. All things considered Chinese Democracy was actually NOT a failure, but what was a failure was how absolutely horrible everyone from Axl down to the record company handled the release and post release era, which is in large part why I consider this album quite successful.

Regardless of Axl taking 15 years to release the first bit of new music, and him being a recluse all the while (which doesn't help business wise). If GNR did the ablum release PROPERLY in all the right ways you would expect from a artist nowadays, CD would have sold vastly better, especially in the USA, and the USA music scene is just idiotic and superficial at this point.

I mean think about it and break it down

1.) This was a band that broke up on BAD terms years and years ago with one sole member left.

2.) Who has not released new music in 15 years and WAS and IS a recluse (especially during that main recording period),

3.) Who also has become a hated/made fun of figure in pop culture to some extent (namely in the USA a major market).

4.) Who then releases the long awaited for album randomly with basically no/horrible promotion with a incorrect release in many forms like CD booklet, music videos ect.

5.) In the USA (a big major market, where the GNR name really needed a boost in recent years) the album is released exclusively at a failing electronics chain (with not many store locations compared to say a Wal-mart) where for the most part there is no promotion.

6.) And then this key remaining band member who is the face of the band and basically the sole factor fans even care about DOES NOT even promote it at all, actually this one band member stays totally out of the light for over a year after the release, and then first sight of him post release is smacking a paparazzi member at a airport.

7.) Did I mention that half of the songs on this album were either played live for years or leaked long before the release?

So yeah I would say this album doing what it did (not just world-wide but even just speaking in the USA) is actually one of the more amazing music business feats in a way.

And don't forget guys during those main recording years, Axl recorded a lot more than just 14 songs he was serious about (and I'm not talking about throw away songs), so they could if they really wanted to, release lot of material that could be used to make more money (which I think was always the plan, that is to release more than 1 album). So really you got to combine all the sales from all the material in those recording sessions. Will anymore ever be released? Who knows at this point, but if they did release stuff 2 years after Chinese Democracy, 3 years, 4 years, whatever, I'm sure it would of made money for them, so in a way you have to put that in one money pot. Cuz we all know people always talk about the alleged 14 million production costs ect.

  12. This can't really be compared.

When Jordan quit and played baseball it was more of a way for him to take a break and clear his mind at the time. He was giving up the sport he had played professionally for 10 years straight to play a sport he had not played since he was 15 or so. Axl can really be compared with that, sure old band mates left, but he still was doing music.

  13. Wow this is kinda random, I don't listen to rap/hip hop music, especially hip-hop music with actual rapping in it. But back when I first heard this song there was something about the groove of it that I kinda liked in a musical way. But anyway a couple days ago I was flipping through tv channels when I seen that Tupac Resurrection documentary, it just started, and it was playing this song, which is what caught my attention for a second. So it got me thinking of this song, so last night I looked it up on YouTube and listened to it for a bit, then I log on MyGNR and see this, just kinda odd huh?

  14. Does anyone actually know about this record label stuff as it pertains to GNR though? As in concrete facts or at least rumors as to what exactly is really going on? Because that's all that matters. I still am very interested in hearing some inside details.

  15. Well to me, CD II (or whatever it will be called) is just Chinese Democracy. This holds true if the next album is entirely or mostly of songs conceived back a some point in the CD era (1993-2008). All this unreleased material from the sounds of it is or at least was important to Axl and very much intended to be released, maybe even all at once like some of the rumors suggested, and Baz thought was maybe possible back when he heard those 4 albums all those years back (I mean why would Axl have played him them 4 albums of material if he didn't care about it?).

And there is no other record I have thought more about than CD/CDII/CDIII/CDIV/ECT., not even close lol.

  16. Personally I have never liked Silkworms, I have always sort of liked the soft guitar section but other than that no thanks. Also if the lyrics never are changed I got a feeling most the world would view this song's lyrics as being really juvenile when they hear it.
