  1. Yes they are a global brand and one of the biggest global groups ever, it's especially crazy when you think about the fact that the original band was together only 6 relevant years and established this huge status in that short time. Like they may be South America's most popular band ever, they headlined Rock in Rio three consecutive times and two of those times was while the band was essentially a recluse and not really a band at all with 1 remaining member, so how could a reclusive band headline that kind of huge event?

To prove my point off the top of my head I think it is the country of Argentina that GNR holds so many positions in their best selling albums in country history

actually here is a wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_albums_in_Argentina

go through the list from top to bottom and notice how many positions GNR hold, not to mention 2 of the top 4 in country history lol.

    Yeah they are global bro

  2. if music is art than why in the world would an artist not want to release music just because certain players are not in the band anymore? just doesnt make sense in that regard, but also in terms of people knowing about it, only hardcore GNR members will know about the individual songs and if they are old or not, and hell even we probably wouldnt know everything without getting info about unheard of track titles. The most important thing about GNR releasing more albums that i think they should be concerned about is getting the casual GNR/rock fan interested in these albums (mostly people in the USA). You know the people who are well aware of the original GNR and like all there hits but dont really follow what all has gone down since 1993, and perceive Axl as evil person that destroyed the band, those people. And whether the next albums have music from 1996 or 2012 I don't think it will make much a difference to these people, the single most important thing for these people is to see Axl releasing music regularly again and to actually hear his songs played on their local rock stations. I could make the case that if the next new album was new songs with the current band it would actually hurt them more because im almost certain songs created with this current lineup would not be better overall than previous lineups.

  3. It's refreshing to see all these threads popping up about how much material Axl has created through these years, hopefully it will remind people why people are getting so angry for new music not being released more.

on a side not this makes me think, during this lost GNR period for Axl that was 1994-Forward but was also in that odd period where Slash was still briefly sort of still in the band up until he officially left, were there any important sightings of Axl publicly during these couple years in the mid 90s where Slash was still called a member? Cuz I remember Slash doing lots of interviews and what not like from 94-96 in regard to GNR stuff whether it be bad or good, but it must have been weird being Axl was never scene.

  4. i agree he should not try to replace something that was better with lesser stuff just because people who were part of that are not in the band now. With all do respect to the other guys i dont think anyone is going to do better than Bucket and Brain, but also this older CD era material has a mythical-ness to it, we want it as it was. Id even like to hear versions of songs before the Bucket era.

  5. I will be excited for any new music, but preferably I want the old CD era material before new stuff. I would be fine with getting new stuff first if there was some guarantee we would get this old stuff within some reasonable time (which i know is crazy) so yeah old stuff first lol.

  6. Better is such an amazing song that could be remixed in 10 million different ways and all be cool, yet somehow we keep getting bad remixes of Better, what is wrong? Someone please make a good remix already.

  7. I would hope that the next album is Bucket/Finck stuff, and that it's been untouched. But who knows what Axl wants to do. If the next album is completely new material written with Ashba and BBF, then so be it. Really, I just want to hear new music with Axl's voice on it.

In terms of how a BBF/Ashba/Axl writing partnership would sound, I have no clue.

what this guys said, yeah I would prefer to have old stuff before the new stuff with Ashba or whatever

btw guys I'm pretty sure the material recorded between the mid 90s and say 2004 is a lot more than just "industrial stuff"

  8. I have always thought about what I would pick as my absolute favorite CD song, but I can never come to a certain answer and i think i never will, but I could probably do a top 5 or 6 maybe and be fairly certain.

Madagascar. This is my favourite song from CD. I always thought it was great. This is the only song from CD that I like about as much today as I did 6 years ago.

Yeah I love Madagascar, but I will say this about Madagascar, I lost a little love for it over the years for some reason since the CD release. I think it is the vocals that changed it for me. Like I like the idea of Axl's different vocal style he uses on the studio version AKA the really raspy dying old man vocals, and It goes well this what I think the song is trying to project, but I really REALLY fell in love with that one live version that floated around as like the definitive live version pre-CD release, that I think most people listened to prior to the Mady leak. I always liked Axl's so called Mickey mouse 2002 vocals, Im not saying I want them all the time but there are times where Axl's Mickey singing is amazing (like KOHD Leeds 2002), and I think I slightly preffer this old Madagascar vocals to the studio version. I found the video with the live version im talking about and It actually is the video I used to have minus the subtitles.

btw which show was this Madagascar performance from? Boston 2002?

  9. Well this question all depends on what Axl's life objectives were/are still and obviously none of us know about this for sure, but...

Yes, regardless if Axl does nothing else productive in his life from this point on he will still have done some amazing things and lived the life of a thousand men, that will no doubt be remembered forever. So in that regard Axl could be content, however I have always looked at this in another way. Just purely speaking about his professional life, I will ask you a question that will answer this threads question if it only pertains to his professional life goals.

If you could go back in time to let's say 1993-1996 and show the Axl of those years how his Post GNR breakup years would unfold and what all would occur or how it turned out, do you think the Axl of those 90's would be happy with his future? That is the question you have to ask yourself. Of course there would be things about those years that he would like that he did like morals/devotion he displayed and kept true to himself or what not. But when you narrow this down to how his professional life turned out through these years, I personally don't think Axl of maybe 18 years years ago would would be happy with how things turned out.

This becomes glaringly more evident from information we have received, like remember the HOF stuff? And his letters stating how he is all about his CURRENT GNR band and wanting to push further with them and being his only concern and focus and doesn't want to be deterred essentially. That leads me to believe he has stuff he still want's to prove.

So in my opinion I don't think Axl is at peace yet with everything, at least not in his professional music life, he has more to prove. I don't think he believes his entire legacy has been fully written yet.

  10. i have always thought that Axl should never remove anything that was Bucket's unless it is with another Bucket track. And the same goes for Brain's drum tracks, cuz the way I look at it is, who really could do a better job at guitar and drum than them two? I think most would agree with me on this.

I really hope Axl doesn't needlessly mess with old songs for future releases just for the sake of getting current band members on them, to me that just does a disservice to those songs. If u want new band members to be on songs just write new ones with them.

  11. ok guys lets be real CD was not bad lol, if you consider it bad I wanna see what crap u guys listen to that is so much better that has been released in the past several years? Lets face it albums like CD dont come out anymore and never will with the exception of Axl's music in the future. One thing that Axl is not is a sellout, and you know what ever music he puts out post Old GNR is going to be extremely UNIQUE and GRAND because he is progressive musically at heart and has been for most of his life. I could go on and on about what makes Axl's NuGNR music so special and keep in mind it's not just the more tangible elements im talking about, think about that.

I still don't know where I place CD as a single album up again AFD and UYI, I have though hard and long and still don't know what I fully think of it up against them. The problem with me is i dont think of CD as just those 14 songs we have got to hear so far...... if Axl would have released let's say all the CD era material as one album, i think people would have fully realized what ALL he has worked on and just how magical it is. I still believe the best is yet to come.

  12. there is no excuse for them not to finish these so called un-finished CD era songs after all this time, people are either just bein lazy, which i dont think is so much the case, or people are "scared" of releasing new material and hearing/seeing/reading about the feedback of the material....if ya know what i mean

it's not like this band is very productive at being a band outside of the tours ;)
