  1. Nick Sterling. Only joking.

It is reunion or bust at this point. There is no hope of continuing to try to generate excitement without the core members of the original line-up. This band that Axl formed was very talented and should have released more new music while they had the opportunity. Axl's voice can't go on for much longer. I would rather see him use it with the guys he was meant to play with all along than waste it on another incarnation of them.

  2. If they are planning on putting together a brief reunion tour, perhaps they feel the need to remind the old fans how great they were/are. Those old fans who haven't been following along for the past 20 years may have lost their Appetite cassettes and UYI CD's. Many of them have kids or even grandchildren by now who are watching Spongebob movies.

Spongebob and the new GNR online slot machine will fill arenas/stadiums all around the world.

  3. I love his Rock N' Roll Jesus album and the man is a fantastic performer although I've seen him on the past couple tours and they both seemed the same (kind of like Axl's tours, I guess).

I respect what he has to say. He's a smart guy who knows his fan base and negotiates with venues and reduces profits on concessions, t-shirts to make shows more affordable for his audience.

I bought his current album and don't really care for it much.

He's probably correct in his assessment of Tiger Woods.

  4. AFD - Think About You

    Lies - Mama Kin

UYI I - Garden of Eden

UYI II - My World (of course)

Spaghetti Incident - Buick Makaine (I think) Haven't listened to SI in a long time. I used to also dislike 'I Don't Care About You'.

On a personal note, it feels good to be back and unbanned. I got banned for a stupid reason anyway. I'm an old school fan from the Mygnr Message Board days.

  5. I met Frank in San Juan. Nice guy. Anyway, I said to him "so your the drummer for good now?" He said to me, "I don't know really what's up with Brian. I know that touring can be difficult and when I had my first kid, I took time off to stay at home with her. I think that may be what he is doing".

Of course, to be in this band, you probably have to go to some kind of PR class and sign a bunch of documents saying that they can cut your balls off if you mention anything that is going on in the band. I didn't expect to get any real answer from him. Frank was cool nonetheless and I enjoyed talking to him.

When I really think about it though, I'm in this for Axl and the other guys are still kind of background noise to me. I'm becoming a fan of all of them and think this is probably the most talented group of musicians I've seen play live, but I will not begin to really think of them as a "band" until I have the new album in my hands. I imagine that if I cared who the drummer was, I would still be pissed that the band doesn't include Slash, Duff, Izzy, or Sorum.

Happy MLK Day. I have a dream today.

  6. These articles that Del James is apparently writing really suck. I'm tired of him writing "W. Axl Rose". It would be cooler if he just wrote "Axl" instead. Agree? They are written in a way that screams- hey! We're back! notice us we are legendary and you know it.

  7. Regarding the three guitarist debate- I was listening to Welcome to the Jungle from that 1991 or 92 Chicago concert the other day and compared it to live performances of WTTJ in 2006. It is much better live now than with the original line up in my opinion. Comparing these performances, to me, prove that this new band is more technically sound and the song seems more put together. I think its been said that Appetite was recorded with 3 guitar parts anyway and that Slash played over his self in many of the songs. It's cool that this can be done the way it was meant to be played on stage with 3 guitarists. I don't see much importance for Dizzy's bongos though.

Regarding the topic- I like Ron, I've met him 3 different times and there is no question that he is a nice guy. When I watch the band live, I sometimes have a difficult time noticing if Ron's playing is standing out or not unless they give him a solo.

  8. That's cool that Lars came out. He's a smart guy, maybe he should be the new GNR manager. Anyway, we should have speculated this or guessed that he may have come out during the SF show. After all, Lars and the guys in Metallica live in the San Francisco area and Lars and Axl were hanging out some this summer during the European festivals.

  9. I hope this isn't true. I would accept an official DVD of the new band- maybe an OnDemand release or something/ released to coincide with a new single.

Chicago 92 is a great concert, but I agree with everyone in that it is a step back in promoting the new Guns N' Roses. I do, however, believe that the old members have something to do with this since they are supposed to have creative control over the material. This DVD is probably no different.

If the tour finishes on a good note, I guess this won't be the end of the world for me and I can live with more waiting. Afterall, I've been anticipating this release for nearly 1/3 of my life.

  10. I went to see the Crue the other night in Nashville. Backstage passes and everything. They still rock, but I'm not really tied to their songs, so I enjoyed the GNR shows more. Seeing Axl live is like seeing someone legendary to me. When Axl takes the stage, people go nuts because he is almost mythical to people. Vince is everywhere- getting makeovers on MTV, etc.

  11. Once again, I agree with you Kaneda. I'm beginning to think I am your sebastian bach... Seriously though, It is disgusting how he is trying to suck Axl's wang... I used to like Skid Row, but come on, Axl's new material really shows that Sebastian is a dinosaur from the 80's. When I have heard him open, you hear him announce a new song, and it sounds like a shitty version of their old material- then when Axl takes the stage, you hear 'Better' and it makes him look bad, resulting in making it look like a joke that this guy is even sharing the same stage as Axl.

I enjoy hearing 18 and Life and Youth Gone Wild, but I can do without those songs if Axl would do as you say and invite a band on the tour that would attract a significant amount of younger people to the shows. Quit being so quick to bash Kaneda because he criticises all the time. You overlook the good points he makes.

  12. I live in Atlanta too and am disappointed that they haven't set a date here. I've had to travel to go to the 4 shows I've seen this year when I would rather go down to Philips Arena or the Gwinnett Center to check them out. The trips are half of the fun though. I asked Ron Thal and Beta about this. Both were like "we're not sure why they didn't add an Atlanta show.... the promoter picks the cities". Let's hope for this Summer at Hi Fi Buys. The parking lot should be a good time for that. In the meantime, I'll see you all at the Appetite For Destruction shows at East Andrews or the Peachtree Tavern.

  13. We had a good time. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton, where the band stayed (didn't mention where they were staying while I was there and writing on here because they were staying until Tuesday morning and I didn't want to blow their cover). That hotel was pretty nice- it had a good pool, great beach, and the casino was fine, even though they took a lot fo my $$$.

We went to a few bars here and there and then to a whorehouse/ strip club place called Lollipop. I met Beta, Frank, and saw Ron again. The arena was nice and like-new. My only complaint there was that it was impossible to buy a beer larger than 12oz. We were in the club seats, but the servicio was slow. This made for frequent trips to the beer line on the concourse.

I liked Old San Juan too- saw the fort and where the cruise ships come in, etc. I didn't eat good food with the exception of the night we ate in the restaurant at the Ritz. Every other place we went wasn't that great. San Juan overall seemed like a cool city to me and I will be back.

  14. There were video screens, but on the sides of the stage hanging from the ceiling. Rear-screen projection. another thing- the guy standing next to me was thrown out for taking pictures. They were checking cameras and belts that looked dangerous at the door. They had a whole claim check section with belts and cameras!
