  1. Many people hear speak of a G'N'R reunion, and debate about the probability of it and whatnot. I think this quote from Slash in a magazine back in November 1995 is pretty much accurate on the circumstances for a reunion

Interviewer: Doing your own thing - as have Izzy and Duff, who have also done their own albums - has obviously been very beneficial for you in lots of ways. Do you think it might be good for Axl if he did something like that?

Slash: "I wanted him to. You have to know Axl to understand what I'm getting at. Axl's the kind of guy who over-thinks everything. Sometimes it's fucking classic, and sometimes it's just...whatever. And that's cool. But there was a point there where Axl goes: "I'm gonna do a solo record, and I'm gonna get Trent Reznor and Dave Navarro, and the drummer from Nirvana..." and so on. And it's like, he doesn't even know half of these people. He's just pulling them out of the sky. And I was like, "Cool! Do your thing. That way you'll get it out of your system, and when you get back we'll just be Guns N' Roses."

Axl's idealistic side project sounds a lot like his vision for G'N'R. Maybe that is what it will take...Once Chinese Democracy is over and done with, he'll ''get it out of his system'' as Slash said, and come back to the old G'N'R and just go on with that.

  2. This is a great, folky song, and it's simple yet beautiful lyrics and it's pretty vocal and musical melodies really make this song great

"And it appears to be a long

    Appears to be a long

Appears to be a long time

such a long, long, long, long time

    Before the dawn

It's been a long time coming

It's going to be a long time gone

But you know, the darkest hour is always

    Just before the dawn

and it appears to be a long

    Appears to be a long

    Appears to be a long

    time

Such a long, long, long, long, long time

    Before the dawn''

I don't know, but I find that very true and I find the song to be a very simple yet beautiful song. The movement of the 60s was a long time coming...and hopefully its not gone too long....Like their message was, people need to try to make peace and love and at least tolerate each other...I don't know...all this hate and violence saddens me and depresses me...But I guess that's just me...

  3. Wow, this song is awesome. I've heard it so many times yet everytime that intro begins to subtly play I still get chills down my spine. This song is so intense and so dark and it has such great riffs it's spooky and epic. The intro itself is chilling, and all in all a classic song.

    Anyone agree?

  4. No, I wouldn't want to see a tour with Kid Rock. I've never been a fan of Kid Rock, and I've always thought of him as being a bit cheesy, and he's a bit of a has-been now isn't he...I mean, no one really talks about Kid Rock like they did back in 2000/2001, I think a much more popular artist or a more accepted artist would be better.

Such as? I just posted about all this speculation in a previous post on the Eminem thread but I am curious as to your idea of a popular or accepted artist-

I know that it's been done before, but Metallica would be cool. They're really the only rock group that is a contemporary of G'N'R that is still taken seriously and is a respected artist. Or besides that, I'd love to see G'N'R with a rap group but one that is a serious artist and talented.

A really awesome pairing would've been the original Alice in Chains, if Layne Stanley was still alive...

  5. This post fucking sucks. :fuckyou:

Thank you for your well thought out, intelligent and speculative post. You have contributed much to this thread with your infinite wisdom, patience and understand, and for that, by God, I salute you! You're an inspiration to myself, and to every member of this board who wishes to be a prick.

  6. No, I wouldn't want to see a tour with Kid Rock. 7. Some guy asked us to speculate on a Kid Rock/Axl pairing for the North American tour...But, what about an Eminem (or D12) have a co-headlining tour with G'N'R this Fall. After all, Axl is a rap fan and even had wanted NWA to open for the old G'N'R on the Illusion Tour. Plus, with all the Eminem fans around, this tour would be a guaranteed success and it'd be interesting to see, since Eminem is like the Axl of today (He's controversial like Axl and has that same Don't-Give-A-Fuck attitude that Axl is known for) and they both come from a fucked up background and have both been accused of homophobia and racism.

Not only that but both of them are like lyrical geniuses and it'd be interesting to see what they'd come up with if they worked together, and I think a tour with D12 and G'N'R would be fucking exciting.

    Your Thoughts?

  8. Hey

I know Izzy didn't play at the May 12th, 14th or 15th shows in NYC but after that has he played for the whole tour thus far? If not, what dates has he played? And does anyone think he might play with them in the States this fall and be back full time.

I think he might, because a lot of the reasons that he left are gone now:

    A) Axl--If Axl acted like an asshole today, I doubt Izzy would've committed to playing with him again.

    B) The stardom--At one time Izzy had a problem with playing big gigs, that doesn't seem to be an issue now

    C) Drugs--I've read in interviews with Izzy that he had quit Heroin and being around Heroin users like Steven and Slash put big pressure on him. I don't think any of the current band members are drug users now, and it's probably a much less wild, crazy and decadent environment than it was in 1991.

So, with the majority of his reasons for leaving gone, perhaps Izzy will come back for good. I mean, in the time from the end of the UK tour till the US tour is a long enough time for him to learn the new songs and get back in touch with more of the old songs...So maybe (hopefully) He'll come back full time.

  9. Ok.

Say all goes as supposedly planned and Chinese Democracy is released this Fall. It's a bit hit and so are the two ''sequel'' albums after it. It would be cool of Axl if he released like a Chinese Democracy Special Edition Boxset, which would have every version of every song of CD and it's sequels from 1996 on. Plus it would have all the scrapped songs and different version of those and the last songs that the original G'N'R worked on from 1994-1997, plus with a big booklet giving the history of the recording and the inside story of the band. That would be so cool and very interesting.

  10. read up in their history you slimy wee rent boy herpes victim they got forced out cause there lead singer had morphed into hitler and believed his own hype what a lot of drivvle you talk you must lead a sad pathetic life if your sittin thinkin of shit like that to say. Amd vr fuckin rock growing as a BAND and their SECOND album iss gonna be huge you start arguing when uncle axl has released his piece of shit , if you can get your tongue out of his arse for long enough

Looks like someone's panties are in a bunch. There's two sides to every story, friend. You're just choosing to listen to one and one only. I must lead a sad life? You must lead a sad fucking life to reply to a thread with only the aim of spewimg your narrowminded venom-filled view point instead of actually discussing something like an intelligent person. VR are growing? Going to be huge? Lmao. The only reason VR had success is because of three guys: Duff, Matt and Slash. See, ''Grunge'' or Alternative singers like Weedland are a dime a dozen, guys like Duff, Matt and Slash are a rare talent.

And, yes I will keep on arguing when G'N'R releases the album this year, which will be so much better than any thing our anorexic, flamey friend Scotty_Boy can release.

You know, I don't post a lot because everything I want to say has already been said by someone else better than I could have said it.

However, once in a while I read something that makes me angry and then I have to say something.

graemewark, you are an ass. Say what you want about the new band (you obviously are taking it pretty seriously) but there is no need nor any validation for cutting up Mr. Miser who was sharing an opinion that I personally found to be refreshing.

It is irrelevant whether Mr. Miser is correct, his comparison was a good one and I am sure it has at least some truth in it. Why should Axl rush, so wankers like you can complain that it isn't appetite for destruction?

For people like graemwark GNR is dead and I feel sorry for them. The rest of us are busy enjoying what we have now and you know what? I don't want another appetite for destruction. I want something new.

Mr. Miser, thank you for sharing your opinion!

    jesse bee

Thanks a lot bro, glad you liked the post rock1

    Rock On

  11. what a lot of bull shite you talk boy. Get a fuckin life, it aint out cause its nothing but a steaming streak of pish and the cunt is too scared to release it, hes shitting his pants, this aint literature it used to be the coolest rock roll band on the planet before that old has been ruined the whole thing.

apetite was written in a matter of weeks and is their masterpiece, it will never be topped, especially when its one guy and his hired help. that aint a band its a fuckin joke

Thanks for your opinion, though I don't think anyone really cares. I know I sure as hell don't. There's a forum called Yesterdays-The Early Days if you want to indulge in bittersweet nostalgia.

Or you can go to the VR forum and watch Weedland, I mean, uh, Weiland rip off Mick Jagger when he dances and sways like the anorexic bitch that he is and listen to that uninspired piece of horsehit called Contraband. I feel bad for Slash and Duff, they're really wasting their talent (and believe me I acknowledge that they're fucking awesome) with Old Skin and Bones.

    Bye bye now, cuntface.

  12. Some people "haters" or the doubters complain that because Axl has spent so long in working on Chinese Democracy and hasn't released it in all this time, that means it must not be good. Well...there is something else that was a long time in the making and has been hailed as a classic since it's release...and that would be the Lord of the Rings.

That's right. Between the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings there is a eighteen year gap, with the Hobbit being released in 1936 and Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring being released in 1954. Now...Like Axl, Tolkien didn't spend every year out of that long gap working on LotR. He started working on the tale in the '40s. That is similar to Axl, who really didn't begin working on CD in 1993, he actually started work on it circa 1997-1998.

Tolkien, like Axl, was a perfectionist, especially in the work (Like the Silmarillion which went through numerous rewrites) that he held dear to him, and wanted to released the best product that he could, like Axl. And again, the Lord of the Rings has indeed been hailed as a classic in the years since it was released, though it was met with criticism at first.

My point being is that though Axl has taken a long time with this it is not due to lack of musical inspiration, or due to a lack of quality in the songs, but only because he has wanted to refine it over and over through the years to make the best album he could, like Tolkien did with LoTR, and to put out something that was true to his vision of it in the first place.

  13. Hi

I know a lot of people talk about whether G'N'R is a band or not but I was wondering if you guys think that the members will or will not receive royalties from CD and future albums or if all royalties will go to Axl because he owns the name?

  14. So HisRoyalFatness,

does that mean that all who wear jeans and a t-shirt or whatever are actually trying to be like Slash? Wow, I didn't know that Slash was that important to EVERYONE. Slash must be a fucking inventive motherfucker, cause it seems you're trying to imply that Slash was the first to wear a jeans and t-shirt combo in rock n roll or in general.

  15. I agree with you Mr. Miser, althought I don't really give a damn what happens in the "Rock scene". We have a whole Music scene to worry about.

Hopefully, the dominance of Rap will eventually give way to new and exciting forms of music with a rhythmic emphasis. Dance music will rise again and in a new way.

But do you think that Rap might totally overun Rock where Rock becomes a niche thing like Disco is today? Cause right now Rap and Rock are the two dominant forms of music in terms of influence. See, while Rap is popular by year, rock is more popular in the grand scheme of things. And it seems like Rap is really only huge in the US. From what I've heard Rock is still big in the rest of the world, especially in Europe.

We need a new 1960s: Drugs, good music peace and free love. We need artists who won't be afraid to expand their minds.

  16. Just some abstract thinking on my part. Someone on another thread said that Appetite is like about Rock N' Roll and Idealistic, new Love, and that the Illusions are about lost love and feeling alone. I also think that the Illusions are about the pressures of dealing with sudden fame and your life being in the spotlight. I think that with CD a circle will be complete in that CD will be about accepting your place and mourning that lost love and moving on perhaps.

  17. I'm probably the only who believes this, but I think that the rock needs a big dose of psychadelia. Like stuff that is fun to listen to, but also will fuck with your head. Something experimental yet traditional, which will make people go "What the fuck is this??" but also be like "This is wild yet cool." Like in the line of ''See Emily Play'' by Pink Floyd or ''Dandelion'' by The Rolling Stones. Rock needs controversy and danger. Something that will shock people but entice them.

  19. I don't understand why some people try to ruin others' happiness about the new g'n'r, or will post in a thread just to say a cynical or hateful thing about Axl, the band or the album. And some people will even criticize Axl or the new band for the smallest of things, like what Axl is wearing. Well...there are two sides to the spectrum here. You have the haters, who hate Axl and the new band beyond reason and will post any hateful thing no matter how petty simply to belitte the new band. Then you have the nutswingers who'll defend Axl no matter what he does.

Granted, Axl is an asshole, no doubt, and has done some fucked up things, but there are people who try to have faith in the new band to come through and who try to support them and i don't get the point of trying to ruin that for people...It's not like it will bring the old band back. Which I don't think that's even a goal of the haters at this point, it seems like they just want to see G'N'R dead. No reunion, no new lineup, just gone. I think it's really stupid to criticize others for what they like, because in the end we're all here for the same thing whethers it's the guns of the past or the guns of the present, it's music and instead of anaylizing and arguing about every little thing, just sit back and enjoy the music.
