  1. Have you told the other boards bout the party man? Really no reason to exclude any hardcore nugnr geek. Were all there for the same reason. I say more the merrier.

Hit up here today....which other ones should I inform?

I said it over there as well, but thanks again for including us! The space looks great. My friend and I are going to be there around 7ish. I am not the type of person that wants to stand right at the stage OR wait on a super long line so this is perfect. Been there, done that and as much as I love GNR, getting punched in the head or elsewhere by a rowdy fan is no bueno.

  2. I hate to admit it but by the 5th and 6th shows this year I started using KOHD, the extreme etended version, to refresh my beer stash and go to the ladies room. I know some won't agree but I think removing this tune could make room for 2 more songs.

But I agree Jungle is the best opener and PC for the finish. Anything in between I would love to see switched up and TWAT should definitely become a permanent part of the set. Even maybe as part of the finale, just not the final encore itself.

  3. I am really happy that most of the reviews from this tour have been positive. I am also a little surprised, not because I don't think GNR deserves it but because they have never been media favs. Maybe the media is finally sick of all the crap music put out in the last decade. We can only hope!

    Very nice read, thanks!

  4. Once again, there are lots of people on here who are sheep, and will hate anything that Axl deems to be uncool. Just like those lame-ass "pigeons of shit metal" references that people love to throw around because Axl said it so it must be cool and true. I would bet most people who make fun of them have no idea what they sound like. Granted it is not for everyone but at least be open-minded enough to give it a chance and then form an opinion on it afterwards.

MMM was cool. He was mainly spinning classic rock records and putting a little twist on it.

I liked MMM as well. Probably because I am a Beastie Boys fan as well.

And really, I understand what the EODM are trying to do I just really think the music just sucks (and yes I understand the "irony" in it and that it is supposed to suck). If I had heard them not in any reference to GNR I would say the same thing. I like my music to not suck and not be ironic, but that is just my opinion.

  5. Thank you for responding though! And I agree with you. I'd take CD over Contraband any day of the year!!!! As would 99% of all record companies.

You don't know that. Only reason New GNR AND VR have a chance in an industry that is now dominated by hip-hop and r&b is BECAUSE of their history. Without that, who knows if either would get a second look.

Sweety, but I do know it. And deep inside that heart of yours . . .you know it too.

Songs like Better, IRS, CITR, TWAT, The Blues, Madagascar, Chinese Democracy BLOW away anything that Velvet Revolver has put out.

You are right in saying the music is better but you have to think in terms of a record company that wants to sell records. VR makes records, GNR has yet to release one with the new band.

Your logic is flawed. I love GNR as much as you do and I think the leaks are 1000 times better than anything VR has come up with but it still doesn't change the fact that they aren't selling any albums at the moment.

Next year I think your logic will make more sense once CD is actually released.

  6. Thank you for responding though! And I agree with you. I'd take CD over Contraband any day of the year!!!! As would 99% of all record companies.

Even as an Axlite I don't believe this to be true. VR has something that the new GNR incarnation doesn't. A track record. I know you said to compare as if neither had released an album but that just cannot be done realistically. Record companies want bands to release records otherwise they just don't make money.

I think that once GNR releases CD things will be different but for the time being VR has one up on them for actually releasing an album of new material with a second album on the way.

  7. I don't like VR's music but I respect them for what they are doing. I never liked Scott from his STP days so I suppose that is what keeps me from liking them as a band. Maybe if they had a different singer I would feel differently, I dunno.

But I would still give the money to GNR even though getting them to release an album is a crapshoot, I grew up listening to Axl's voice and that is what I choose to support.

  8. I don't think the tour was pointless. If you think of it in terms of a cash grab I suppose you could say that. But ultimately it helped the band back into the spotlight.

I almost agree with the rest of what you said (with the exception of insulting Matt which is just not necessary), which is really odd for me because I never do!

  9. Where are people reading this?

"I know I sleep well at night in the knowledge that when Chinese Democracy hits the streets in March that it is in large part down to my efforts over the last almost 5 years. I found the money and the motivation to keep Axl and the band alive and get the record made when everyone else had given up and walked away."

That doesn't necessarily mean the tour. It could just as easily mean the publishing rights deal - even more likely since Axl would be getting MUCH more money from that deal than the tour. Merck was key to that deal as he was still at Santuary and likely negotiated it. Any manager can put together a tour.

He did state in the letter that the tour funded the record if you re-read it you will see. But ultimately I do not see this as a negative thing because countless people have gotten to see the band, many of them who were too young to have seen them previously. They got mostly positive reviews and are now back in the public eye to a degree. All good things as far as I am concerned.

  10. It really is interesting after all the bitching that was done by the fans on here to get some kind of response that one came pretty promptly (well promptly for Axl) :)

    Great post HisRoyal!!!

I guess we really do have a say! <_<

  11. When Merck said the "muse" didn't show up, do you guys take that as meaning Axl PHYSICALLY never went to the studio's, or does "muse" in this case mean his inspriration or work ethic was gone?

    inspiration, i think.

That is what I think he means as well.

  12. Well where else are the other guys gonna earn money? They are on a payroll to keep them in the band. Once the album is out (and the label paid back) they will begin to earn royalties etc. Until that time they don't have any GNR income other than payroll.

People are saying payroll like it's a BAD thing.

It simply means they are getting paid. Which they should be! They are working and playing shows and do not have an album out to gain royalties off of. This isn't charity work! Even musicians want to get paid, what is the problem???????
