  1. I'd love to play in a band that had solos with Izzy-like riffs underneath it, a singer with some kind of unique and raspy voice, and a drummer and bassist who could play really good beats behind it all rather than just hitting the drum or the chord once a second. Then the music would be a weird cross between 70's Pink Floyd and 80's GNR.

  2. I've never been able to get into them although Hotel California isn't too bad but it's ruined for me since my ex-gf played it over and over all the damn time.

  3. "No One Like You" and "Wind of Change" are probably my favorites. I'm not a fan of them but I bought "Bad for Good: The Very Best of the Scorpions" and it's got some good stuff on it. The last three songs "The Zoo" "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and "Send Me an Angel" are good too.

I didn't think those guys would still be touring, how old are they? I thought Axl might be starting to age but he's young compared to them.

  4. ive got a question here.

few months ago i downloaded a song called "half the man"...supposedly by STP and the singer really sound like weiland.

but i checked on amazon all STP's albums but they dont have that song.

u guys know if they had this song or is this another band's song?

I'm pretty sure the song you're talking about is called "Creep" and yes it's by Stone Temple Pilots from the album "Core". If you find the lyrics they do say something like "cause i'm half the man i used to be" which is probably where the wrong name got taken from. It's a good album, very worth buying in my opinion.

  5. If the Greatest Hits album is the only one you've heard, than you cannot judge.

Yeah, I didn't really start to like STP until I bought "Core" and "Purple", now I got them all in some form or another. It seems to be hard to find any other album but those two until you go into a bookstore that's overpriced or go online. Somehow I found "No.4" at Wal-Mart.

  6. I was going to put 2000's (or however you'd type it, 00'?) as a choice but we're only halfway through and next year Jesus could return with Jimi Hendrix on his back for all we know.

For me, music's last stand was Pink Floyd's The Wall in 1979, none of the 80's bands impressed me, including AC/DC even though I've listen to Back in Black every now and then. Def Leppard sparked my interest for a day and that was it. Somehow I managed to like Stone Temple Pilots and some 90's songs by other bands more than the 80's bands, seems weird considering how much more popular AC/DC is than STP and the way this poll is going.

So what would GNR really be considered? I threw them in the 90's category just so they weren't competing with the 90's bands I like. I love GNR but I love a lot of the 90's for some reason.

  7. In my opinion, they're the best band of the 90's excluding GNR. I hate Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and any other band that started around that time. I think the band was really talented even when they started going downhill. Purple's my favorite album. And if you don't wanna hear Weiland sing in that same tone you're talking about then listen to any of the albums besides Core and Purple, although that's when everyone says they go downhill.

  8. I'd gonna vote for the 80's, I hate the 80's radio station *puke* and the 90's gave me some better music. Guns was late 80's so I'm gonna shove them into the 90's category just because I wanna.

  9. I think I got the same greatest hits CD's that shiaobundan has and when I heard "Just Push Play" I didn't think it was too bad, I really liked it at first although now it's just lost in my library of music. I remember when I first heard Jaded on like Jay Leno or somethin, it sounded good then and good now. Both songs beat out a lot of 90's shit in my opinion. I thought about buying "Just Push Play" but then I forgot so maybe I'll do it if this thread's reviews are good.

  10. On Saturday Night Live, Ashlee Simpson was going to sing two songs and before she got to the second song, a loop played over the speakers of her singing the song and she did this stupid lil ho-down thing to try and distract people but it didn't work and she ran off the stage or somethin.

So it's been proven, pop singers lip-sing their shit, another reason why rock needs to make a come back and actually play music instead of making people listen to stupid tracks over and over again while the "singer" just acts and suckers people outta money. Although it was pretty obvious they lip-sing before this but it's just amusing and it's just some weird shit I felt like posting since I haven't started my own topics in a while.

Edit: I think I got some of my info a little bit wrong but it was something very very close to that. Still funny, I just saw it on the news and that was some queer lil dance she did to play it off.

  11. Im glad that cleared up the white stripes thing..... *thinks about other thread*

I knew they were married at some point! Well now that's cleared up everything for me too. Damn that must be weird to play on stage with ur ex-wife and all that.

  12. I've done one or two posts about this local band before...

    Seventeen Rhinos

I dunno if I'd like em if they weren't local though, just some local pride on my part. They're definently talented though, their second/last album is my favorite. They kind of sound like a pop rock band that's trying to become a lil more hardcore and actually play rock, it works for me.

  13. Its scary. I think I know all the words to all their songs. I think they're brilliant.

And they always introduce themselves at live shows as 'Hi, I'm Jack White and this is my big sister Meg.'

    ...Pretty self-explainotry ;)

I remember hearing that "big-sister Meg" part somewhere before, I think I just thought it was meant metaphorically, like they're such close friends or she's helped him out so much in life. I think that's what a metaphor is... English class may have failed me again.

Stupid Moron: And I don't dislike White Blood Cells, there are songs I like on it, but it's not anything I'd wanna do air guitar to or play often... prolly the same way you feel about Elephant. Oh well, I'm waiting for their next album to come out, I have high hopes for it.

I almost feel like I'm insulting you when I say ur name  .

  14. I dont think they are related..... i dont think they were ever married.

Elephant isnt as good as other albums! De Stijl and White Blood Cells are mad albums.

Saw them at Livid (Aus Festival) they were pretty good.

White Blood Cells is the only other cd I've heard, De Stijl is on hold at the library for me. I didn't like White Blood Cells that much, there's a few good songs on it but they took a while to find and those songs make me cringe at certain spots. I think Elephant shows more of their musical potential and gave me hope that there's atleast one band out there that actually knows what rock is, I still don't know why "Ball and Biscuit" didn't get very far except for the fact that it's 7-minutes long, I love that song. That one song alone has more solos in it than prolly all of White Blood Cells, although solos aren't everything, I know that, but it definently shows a different side of the band to me.

  15. Um I don't think they're siblings, I thought they were once married?

So far I only like one of their CD's called "Elephant." It's pretty good although the first half is all filler except for the opening track. "Seven Nation Army" and "Ball and Biscuit" are the best off that album in my opinion.
