Although bands like Green Day, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Weezer etc. have some emo influences, they are not emo, but pop-punk.

Pop-Punk is a very different genre actually, Emo stands for emocore or emotive hardcore, and is an offshoot of hardcore punk music, with a more sensitive side, emo bands are bands like Jimmy Eat World & Fugazi. Pop-punk on the other hand is a much simpler and less intricate form of music.

So, although the two styles are somewhat related, pop-punk is quite different.
