  1. yes off course I meant grunge.... they had a totally different attitude than rock n' roll... I dunno what it was, but it ain't rock n' roll

Thats really funny. I used to think just like you, I mean exactly the same, then I started actually listening to the aformentioned bands and quickly changed my mind.

  2. Presence is so commonly cited as "underrated" that it's becoming "overrated". Opax, I have to agree on II.

I hate the use of overated and underated, I mean everyone's going to have a different opinion, and opinions change with time. I used to think Presence was the worst but now I've come to like it, whereas in six months time I may have gone off it again.

As for II, well it just seems so inconsistant, plus it kind of rips of old blues a bit too much for me to be comfortable with.

  3. did you watch either of the videos? give them a chance at least!

Fair call, Ill give them a shot.

First song was kind of boring, this song would be nothing without its celebrity packed video.

Second song was decent, intriguing lyrics not digging the christian sentiments though, anyone who claims to wear a crown of thorns obviously thinks highly of themselves.

  4. Someone should make a sub-forum for all the Oasis posts.

ffrankwhite, you wont mind moderating that either will you?

  5. I've tried and tried and tried over and over again to get into this band, but I think I may actually hate them more than most groups. I like Megadeth a lot but I can't stand Hetfield's dramatic, operatic singing (sooo dated and cheesy and over-the-top) and the lyrics and guitar riffs just sound really lame to me. I only like one of their songs - "Enter Sandman" - and I don't even really like it; I just find it tolerable.

I have tried to enjoy their music but each time I try, I just find myself more annoyed by them than before.

Yeah they are kinda hard lo listen to for me, I just find them annoying.

Especially the big AAAAAARGH Hetfield tacks onto the last word of almost every line.

  6. A few months?

I've had an ongoing musical love affair with that band since 1992, I love their live show, I saw them last summer and it was the best show I saw in 2006. They played Downtown Money Waster and Thorn In My Pride, it was insane.

I think you've just provided me with an excuse to check them out.

  7. What about "ha ha ha he he he, i'm the laughing gnome and you can't catch me" Bowie's Laughing Gnome. really pretty dire!

    Great choice.

I heard that on one of Bowie's tours, he gave fans a chance to vote for songs they wanted him to play. Some magazine started a campaign and got everyone to vote Laughing Gnome. Bowie abandoned his idea

    Thats true brilliance.

Anyway for me that song Icky Thump by the White Stripes, dont know why but it really grinds my gears, Im sure I can think of worse songs if I spend a minute or two.

  8. Sammy is such a better singer than Dave its laughable, weather he fits the band better or not is purely opinion, DLR just comes off as a primadonna douchebag to me and Sammy seems like a cool guy. So Hagar all the way.

  9. I think he sounds better than bon scott.

I agree his voice is clearly far better, it has more growl and less whine.

    I disagree.

I think Johnson's voice is very whiny. Scott's got that rock n' roll essence to it. Gravelly, yet still powerful when he goes for the higher notes.

Highway to Hell will always be my favourite AC/DC album. Love it.

No way, Powerage is the definitive AC/DC album, and also one of the most underrated albums of all time, IMO

I think everyone knows that Back in Black is the definitive AC/DC album, Im not even sure anyone can argue that. It has the most critical acclaim and has out sold (by millions) any other albums they've made. Saying anything to the contrary is laughable.
