  1. Dunno about you people, but I'm starting to get worried about this year. I know it's only January but this silence is just creepy. Sure, you can argue that we had a press release from Axl and all, but then again, back in 2004 we had a press release from Axl stating that the release date would be announced in the next few months, and then we didn't hear from him for two more years. I worry that this tour was truly just a cash grab to finance further recording of the album and that we'll hear from Axl in '08 stating that another tour is coming soon and the cycle will begin again.

Not to worry, if it is '08, it'll be the reunion tour and will have been worth the 13+ year wait.

  2. I don't know for the other shows but at the one I attended, people booed all the guitar solos, mainly Finck's one.

People came to see Axl, that's it.

I agree with this statement, it was the same way in Worcester. You could tell who the fake GNR band supporters were cause all 8 of them attending the show were the only ones cheering the solos. Everyone else dummied up or went to take a wizz...and I was 3 rows up in the lower level, so I saw everything.

  3. What surprised me a lot too was that people were accepting that Slash was not there anymore.

I know that yours is not a spin-free post, so I'll add my .02 - Do you think this is partially why attendance was down all over the U.S.? Because people know Slash is not in the band anymore, and don't want to go??

  4. hey George glass - i think we're on the same level - just grown out of this whole bullshit!!!

By the way - I think in 2007 the leading song should be "14 years" -

    ...14 years of silence

    14 years of pain...

14 years that have gone forever

    and I'll never have again...

    am I not right?????

    I ain't the first

Yeah I mean I'm curious to see what the new record will sound like, because I don't dislike some of the new songs, but man 10+ years and a band of unknown's? Not really GNR if you ask me.

  5. looking at all of your topics, and reading all these comments made me wanna laugh.....

I used to be a huge GnR fan - wow...i really, really loved them. Went to many of their concerts, had always all the updates, etc... But after 1993 everything changed, and it will be like that - no matter what.

when it started back in 2002 - i was laughing, 'cause they really looked like a bunch of clowns, and when i went to the concert i was really embarrassed for them - honestly. By the way - Axl admitted that by himself to Kurt Louder on MTv, that 2002 - was a big catastrophy.

then for 4 years we could see few notes about Axl and his musicians, that pretty much nothing was going on. Then blaming Buckethead's leaving the band for the album delay... PLEASE !!!!!!!

And now when the year is almost over, when Axl started the whole process of bringing back the band to life again with concerts and empty promises, we ( i mean fans) are still with NOTHING !!!!

Here are some of mine personal thought - would like to share them with all of you, and see possible comments.

First of all - the mix of people in the band - WTF ???? Three guitar players???? Two piano players??? Why Axl didn't hire the whole orchestra?????

Glorifing Finck as the best guitar player ever.... PLEASE !!!!! Finck dosen't really know what the guitar is for, and fucked up all the guitar parts - during the summer concerts. I dont know about the new stuff, so... cant really say anything.

Second of all - all this chinese democrasy tour was a big mistake too - no mentioning the new album whatsoever - for me it was more like "greatest hits" tour, with some hints of what may happen soon, and their headline song should be - "Yesterday" - honestly, cause the words fit so good to the whole story.

Plus being at few concerts got that feeling it's too much Roses, and just few Guns left..... which is sad

And last but not least - my theory of the new album...

I think Axl want to gets closer with the releasing date to Velvet Rovolver's new album, so they can compete what is better....

Actually i can bet my ass this is gonna be so true...

Let me know what you guys think of that

    Sincerely

    I ain't the first

    dear noob,

    fuck off

    comprende?

Hey noob, how about you fuck off too? Capiche? December 14??

This dude has alot of good points, that some of you brown nosed Axl ass-kissers don't want to admit.

Last bording call for the train to 1992..

My trip should be rather short since I'm only 1 year away in 1991...though I must admit I'm not going to like the overproduced 12-person band they toured with that year...when's the train to '93 scheduled to come in?

  6. Its all set for GN'R

just think about the promotion we can have.

"Its been 20 year since theyr first album, Appetite For Destruction, it the shelves. But now be ready for CHINESE DEMOCRACY. The album you have been waiting for for over a decade."

    Something in those lines.

Chinese Demoracy hits the shelves around March(6ht?) We will geth a Asia tour and after/before we will have a new Europe tour.

Chinese Democracy, the touring and Guns N' Roses is gonna blow eveyrone away in 07'!

2007 is gonna belong to Axl Rose

Give me a break...another speculation thread/this is what Axl should do...

    ..says 1991/reunion Man

Yep, the best year of all times for Guns...stack up the last 10 years even and it doesn't even come close.

  7. Some of you have to face reality and realize that most of the world doesn't give a fuck about Guns N Roses anymore, let alone a stripped down, overglorified Axl Rose solo project. It probably wouldn't be as big of a joke if Axl released the album in say... 2000, or 2002, but now its been an awful long wait for an album that regardless of how good it is, is going to be a laughingstock and a running joke due to the fact that no piece of music on earth can warrant this kind of a wait.

    AGAIN.

All true...I hear jokes about him all the time on the rock stations around here...people just don't really give a shit anymore. Me? I am so content with all the incredibly good bootlegs I have from 91-93 that remind me of the glory days...it will never be that good again.

  8. They aren't good enough for the superbowl.

    No offense.

You're right...and in all honesty, the only way they'd play that gig is if it were the start of a 2007 reunion tour...the original guys are the only ones big enough to play that event...

  9. Its all set for GN'R

just think about the promotion we can have.

"Its been 20 year since theyr first album, Appetite For Destruction, it the shelves. But now be ready for CHINESE DEMOCRACY. The album you have been waiting for for over a decade."

  10. The GN'R publicity machine missed out on the World Series last fall and the Harley ad appears to be tabled (hopefully).

Do you guys think GN'R will take advantage of the Super Bowl (Feb. 4, 2007) to promote the disc which should be out March 6, 2007?

This timeline fits in perfectly- think about this strategy....

    1) Release a single and video at the end of January which will introduce the new band to those who don't know about what's going on (radio play, etc.). This will create a buzz, then...

    2) Promote the album, and new single during the Super Bowl which will again re-introduce the band to the masses and maybe sway the people who heard the single and are on the fence about buying the album.

    3) maybe have a free public concert (about a week before release) in a major market (i.e. Central Park,) to re-introduce the band to the masses that now know that GNR is OFFICIALLY back. I think Aerosmith did something in NY when they released nine lives which created buzz.

    4) Release Album on March 6 and promote the hell out of the album!!!!!

Jesus Fuckin Christ dude, when have they ever done anything logically or sensible over the last 4 years? Yeah a perfect world would be great and putting their fans first would be ideal, but don't you know by now to take March 6th and any other 'statement' with a grain of salt and stop speculating that Axl & Co will do things they way they should be done?? Axl's been shooting himself in the foot for the last 4 years and he's running out of time.....fast. What's the purpose of this topic? Its so far fetched too - a super bowl show? free concert in central park? Are you high?

They should do a 500 city tour, sign each pressing of the CD, do a meet and greet, etc, etc...just sit back and wait to see what happens next. You wanna be into the new band fine but these speculation topics are retarded.

  11. It certainly would help, because then he wouldn't be trying to pass this venture off as the Guns N' Roses we all came to know and love.

Anyone still willing to plunk down money for a concert in 2006 pretty much knows what's up.

Yeah, that Axl's worth the $90 to see perform...the rest of the guys, I'm sure most people now could give a fuck.

...and I've been on this planet as recently as now...since Axl had resurfaced 4 years ago went back into hiding and resurfaced again this year, it isn't real clear as to what's happening for the general public. Most people are expecting maybe Slash & Co when they hear "GNR Live at..." Of course everyone here knows better, but you have to see it through the eyes of the non-die hard. If they resurfaced in '02 as Axl & Co - people would immediately know what's up...and probably not go to see them, hence Axl strategically buying the GNR name. As I said, it was a marketing 'must' in order for him to generate any sort of ticket sales and buzz (both of which have been lackluster, even with the GNR tag - whether you want to believe it or not he needs Slash to put himself back over the top).

  12. Because of the 12+ year time to create it, it has set itself up for failure, because no album is worth that much time...Not saying it won't be good, but it will come under criticism because they'll pit the music v. the 12 year wait...and likely the 12 year wait will win out.

I think it'll get **1/2 out **** from most media.

  13. Let's say Axl has this same new line-up. Plays the same AFD laden setlist.

Yet if he called it "Axl N' Friends"...suddenly, its all good?

Is the new band still not playing old material they had no part in creating?

It certainly would help, because then he wouldn't be trying to pass this venture off as the Guns N' Roses we all came to know and love. And you're right they shouldn't be playing all the AFD material either because it just takes people back to an era that was. A real band, with new members, wanting to move forward, would want to get past that and play songs that HE'D/THEY'D now be recognized for. But when they get up there night after night and play AFD and UYI (which I love because I'll NEVER get tired of AXL performing those songs), people make the association to GNR, and they can't help but say, "this isn't Guns N Roses". I see the guitarist du jour playing the solo in Nighttrain in Worcester and I'm laughing my ass off thinking "this isn't right". Most people at the venues are paying to see Axl, not the rest of the band by the way.

He's replaced 4/5 of the band and still wants to call it 'Guns N Roses'? Smart marketing move? YES. Smart move for the fans and general public? NO, because most can see right through it save for the Axl-ites who will continue to say "he bought the name he can do whatever the fuck he wants". The man's a great performer there's no question, and I would pay to see him everytime, but few bands are the sum of their parts, 87-93 GNR is one of them.

I am simply giving a point of view not skewed by the "axl can do no wrong" school of thought. And yes I've seen the band live twice and just can't get into it, with their dopey stage moves, 10 musicians and not knowing who the hell is going to be in the band from year to year.

  14. As soon as the album drops these guys will be recognized by many more people and start earning the the ground to build the new GN'R on...So keep your hopes up, when the album drops the winds will change! ;)

I admire your optimism, but your statements simply aren't true. Not much is going to change the perception of these guys as hired guns touring with Axl. In fact, I think most people are nonplussed right now with what is going on in 'GNR'. The way for them to have mainstream success is to be identified as what they were and what put them on top. Guns N Roses have burned an image into the general public's mind that will never be taken away - that of Axl and Slash (primarily), with Duff, Izzy and Steven/Matt. What I think would have helped Axl a bit would have been to get 4 replacement musicians to make up another 5 person core then maybe people could draw a line. Now you have revolving guitarists, two drummers, two keyboardists...nobody knows what the fuck is going on.

  15. When DLR left Van Halen, does that mean that Eddie and Co. should never have played Jump or Panama again???

Noone should ever play "Jump" again. Elton John said that song is too gay. ;)

When Mick Jagger left Rolling Stones, he played Rolling Stones songs. Nobody ripped him and his band apart.

CHris Cornell sang Soundgarden songs on his solo tour.

    Plant sang Zep songs.

    Coverdale sang Whitesnake songs.

    I could go on.

No one would be criticizing Axl for singing these songs if he were touring under the name Axl Rose. He isn't. He's touring under Guns N' Roses.

And Cornell, Plant and all the others you could "go on" about don't dominate their setlists with material from old albums. Every GN'R show they play about 90% of the Appetite material.

I'm not complaining - I'm just explaining WHY the complainers complain. There's a BIG, big difference between what you're talking about and what Axl's doing.

It would be like if Cornell had fired everyone from Soundgarden in 1993, and come back in 2006 with an all-new set of people and touring as Soundgarden.

......and Soundgarden would still sound great cause for the most part it is 99% singer when it comes to guys like Cornell, Rose, Perry (Steve, not Stephen). Truely great lead singers can play with the James Lick High School Marching Band behind them and they would be great. Just the way it is. Slash, Duff etc, very good , but sorry Axl will go on forever w/out those guys. They need other great singers to go on. (See Slssh's Snake Pit, Juju Hounds etc).

Slash etc need another great singer to carry them, Axl just needs a venue. Chris cornell is great every band he goes to, no matter what the fuck he does. Axl is like him, or vice-versa. rock1

Yeah Axl could go on, but its no longer at the same level. It leaves much to be desired if you've ever seen the old band perform live. I've not heard to many people say this new band is as good or better than the old because frankly, they are not.

  16. This is a good neutral topic...I have so many so I'll only list a few...some because of the way Axl sings them:

    - if love is blind I guess I'll buy myself a cane (Locomotive)

    - time went by and it all went up in smoke (Pretty Tied Up)

    - I ain't, quite what you'd call an old soul, still wet behind the ears, been around this track, a couple of times, and now the...dust is startin to clear (Dead Horse)

    Some are straight up great:

    - you can use your illusion let it take you where it may, we live and learn and then sometimes its best to walk away (Locomotive)

    - we all come in from the cold, we come down from the wire, everybody warms themselves to a different fire

    - don't get back 14 years, in just one day (Breakdown)

As you can see, I didn't quote any AFD songs. I think that album is straight up, simple hard rock. UYI I and II are obviously much more complex, hence the great amount of lyrics in their songs. God dammit why couldn't they keep going with more music after '93???

  17. Axl has in previous years said somethings that have offended people, do you think on this album he will use A) bad language B) racial slurs C) controversial subjects ... or do you think this is a new axl on the record? like the style he had in some of UYI, epic ballad songs... ?? discuss?

Are you starting these stupid threads because you're bored?
