This is a rare problem and it is not caused by the Forum.
The problem lies in your cookies. A cookie got corrupted or someone took a bite out of one.
SOLUTION:
You need to RESET THE FORUM ON YOUR COMPUTER
Follow the whole procedure. This always works.
If it doesn't, then PM me with as much information as you can (browser, internet connexion type, platform, etc).
AOL USERS:
Many members who recently installed the newer version of AOL had a similar problems. If you are on AOL and have followed the procedure and it still does not work, you'll need to contact AOL and ask them for a solution, or uninstall the upgrade and reinstall the older version that you were using. This problem was mentionned by one of our members in this thread.
Also, using proxies and/or web caching engines (Web accelerators) is not advisable.

TITLE: "GUNS N' ROSES To Contribute New Song To 'The Da Vinci Code' Soundtrack?"
TEXT: According to a recent article published by the Canyon News, GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose told a fan in Malibu, California a few weeks ago that the group's long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy" will be released early next year. In addition, he allegedly revealed that GUNS N' ROSES are looking to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack. The film (more information), based on Dan Brown's controversial best-selling novel, is currently in production and stars Tom Hanks.
"Chinese Democracy" will feature the band's first new music since "Oh My God", the group's contribution to the soundtrack to the 1999 movie "End of Days". The group's last studio album was a covers CD, "The Spaghetti Incident?", which was released in 1993.
In March 2004, Geffen Records issued a GUNS N' ROSES "Greatest Hits" album, which has since gone on to sell 2.36 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose and fellow original members Slash and Duff McKagan tried to block the "Greatest Hits" album's release by arguing in a lawsuit that Geffen Records was putting out the CD without their input. Geffen officials countered that they wouldn't have released the album if Rose had delivered the long-promised album "Chinese Democracy", which has been in the works for over 10 years.

I don't think this is a Forum related issue. It could be a AOL issue, but if that was the case, much more members would have the exact same problem. I need to test it and see this for myself.
What you should first try doing is follow the instrustions to RESET FORUM ON YOUR COMPUTER (delete yoru cookies). This will most likely solve the issue.
Should the problem persist. What I propose you both do is:
1. Change your password to something else
2. PM the Forums where you are having trouble posting and the password so I can "test" your account with my ISP (not AOL)
3. Once the test is over you can change your password to something else or your old password.

Instead of crashing, this page will appear should the server load become dangerously high.
Now this can happen for 2 reasons:
1) Too many members at the same time on the Forum. Exact number varies a lot. The most members online at the same time on this Forum was 246, and the server eventually crashed.
2) The Forum is not on a dedicated server at this time. A couple of other Forums are on the same server. This means that should another Forum have too many members at the same time, this could make the server crash (all Forums crash).
I activated this feature a few months ago and since then this Forum does not make the server crash anymore. Statistics show that it does not happen all that often. There are peak times where you could be more likely to get it. Most of the time, when this page loads it's not because this Forum.
The feature also has the advantage of ensuring the database integrity instead of simply crashing and dammaging the database.

It's a hobby and a whole lot more.
I often spend entire days working on the Forum.I think the efforts have proven to be very effective. The Forum is running quite smoothly.
The present priority is to plan the upgrade path to the new version comming out (version 2.1) wich is a major release (lots of improvements and new features).
As before I was never one to adopt a newver version of the Forum unless I was absolutely sure that it's perfectly stable. So at this time it is only an upgrade path because upgrading the Forum is not as simple as pressing a "upgrade" button I assure you.
As for the chat, I won't repeat what I have said before. It is in my list of priorities..

Although you do give on reason why you think Metallica sucks in your opinion, I think that the argument simply does not cut it. Basing your opinion on somebody else's rant is simply not enough.

Exactly. Listening to the band'S CD's, the videos and having seen them live is a good way to know if you tryly like the band or not. In my case I always thaught Metallica was ok. I don't have all their albums. I have seen them live and this is where I decided that they are a great band. They play really well live (they play even better when band members don't get burned by fireworks during the concert... was at the 1992 concert where a band member got burned and the concert had to stop... but that was ajust an unfortunate incident).

TEXT: GUNS N' ROSES bassist Tommy Stinson (ex-REPLACEMENTS) will be joining SOUL ASYLUM for two shows as a tribute to SOUL ASYLUM's late bass player Karl Mueller, who died in June 2005 following a year-long battle with throat cancer.
Stinson recently completed a solo tour in support of his solo debut, "Village Gorilla Head", which was released in July 2004 through Sanctuary Records. The founding REPLACEMENTS member recorded the material for the set in a Los Angeles studio owned by Charles Thompson (a.k.a. Frank Black) with contributions from A PERFECT CIRCLE drummer Josh Freese, his brother Jason Freese on saxophone, CATHOLICS guitarist Dave Philips, and GN'R guitarist Richard Fortus and keyboardist Dizzy Reed.

TEXT: LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2005--In response to a "frivolous" lawsuit filed against Guns N' Roses leader W.Axl Rose by two former band members claiming Mr. Rose attempted to change the copyright status and the royalty stream earned by the disgruntled pair when they worked with the band Mr. Rose's attorney, Howard Weitzman stated: "This is a classic case of premature accusation. If someone had taken the time to investigate or ask about this situation before rushing to judgment they would have learned that ASCAP (the entity that collects money for songwriters) made a clerical error and failed to appropriately divide and distribute the royalty's owed for the first quarter of 2005 to Axl and the former Guns N' Roses musicians. The amount ASCAP mistakenly sent to Axl's publisher was never received by Axl nor was he ever made aware of the error. The publisher alerted ASCAP to the error, returned the money immediately and asked ASCAP to remedy the situation by distributing the funds appropriately."
Weitzman further comments: "Rather than pick up the telephone and contact Axl or his representatives, his former partners scurried to file a lawsuit that contained false statements about Axl rather then making an effort to learn the truth regarding ASCAP's mistake. Slash and Duff have an unfortunate pattern over the past few years of filing sensational but baseless lawsuits for the purpose of generating anti-Axl propaganda. It is clear that Slash and Duff are looking for another opportunity to spread untruths about Axl in an effort to hurt his reputation and to alienate his fans while at the same time creating a profile for themselves.

Some members have been getting an intermittent problem accessing the Forum SUNDAY NIGHT august 28th 2005. The Forum could not be reached.
According to the information I currently have, the problem is not with the Forum or the host.
I suspect it has something to do with internet traffic.

The Forum is running fine for me using:
Cable connexion
Windows XP
Internet Explorer
Norton Internet Security
Should you have this problem again, send me
What browsers are you using
What operating system are you using
What is your internet connexion type
What Firewall you are using
And a screen capture.
For now, the poblem seems to be related to browsers other than Internet Explorer and or AOL 9.0.

This kind of error usually will happen when the database is down.
The database was in perfect working order at the time of your screen shot.
It would seem that AOL 9.0 on your computer would be the problem.
I am sure that more than a few members use AOL 9.0. You are the first one to report this.
I hope that AOL will quickly fix whatever bug they have in their software!

MYGNRFORUM was not accessible (it was on and off) because of a problem with the commecrial internet pipe/DNS servers).
Depending on your geographical location, you may or may not have had access to the site. Lots of Websites have been affected today such as the Yahoo groups.
These kind of problems are usually fixed quite fast. In this case, it took a few hours.

It's indeed a shame that some members post just to get their post counts up.
Hiding the member's post count will do no good if other members can guess their post count by theur status 'God, demi-god, etc'.
Like I have always said, quality if preferable over quantity. Most of us know what members do 'quality posts' instead of 'quantity posts'.
I have no plans to hide the member' post count.

Funny, I don't remember saying that.
In any case, I don't think they are cool to look at either even though it was interesting to see how people used it as "art".
Admins Global mods and Mods have unanimously decided to get rid of scrolling sigs. I will now edit the Signature Guidelines accordingly.
Should anyone find a eye irritating signature, simply use the "!Report" button under the post to report it.

On the contrary, the admin team has contributed to have a extremely stable and always online Forum over the last years. And the moderating team is doing an awsome job!
The feature was temporarily deactivated to testing purposes. It was reactivated tonight.
I'm glad to know that this feature is appreciated!
