It’s funny I was listening to the “Isnt that absurd” leak all week and went back and listened to “Silkworms” from HOB, I find things in all versions I really like, but the guitar in “Absurd”  just made it sound more Rock and less Punk/Techno and I think it’s what makes better for me

I got into GN'R after hearing about Chinese Democracy from Alice Cooper on the radio a few years before in 2006 or 07, thinking it was fascinating it was taking so long. I got into the older stuff later on, but the CD era is what got me hooked, and what I enjoy most even to this day.

Its really cool to hear the guys that got into the band because of CD. I was like 10 when your UYI came out, always knew of the band, but was just getting into rock music at the time. Seen the YCBM video from Terminator 2 and the song blew me way was hardcore fan since then. Bought every album,AFD became my fav album of all time. Then other than TSI, the wait for new GNR music began. When I was told that they had a song that was going to be on the End Of Days soundtrack and that Axl was putting another record together got a guy so pumped. Started on this board discussing, listening to leaks and the brutal wait from when you heard the record was being made til 10 years later and 17 years from the last of orginial material what a great day that was waking up to go pick it up(even though had pretty much every song already). I was so excited I think I bought like 10 copies  any of my buddies if they were just even casual fans I gave them one. Probably do the same thing if the new record ever does come out, I say probably cause it still kind of blew me away that CD ever did get released and with it being 12 more years now even with all the chatter(we've heard all before) of a new record, I get less optimistic every day.

They also indicate that there was a period of writers block early on due to various factors. It is only an opinion, but it feels more positive now. Axl isn't on his own anymore, there are three equal entities carrying the band. And, I think Axl going on stage on time shows that he is feeling more comfortable within himself. Plus, the band have two powerhouses in Universal and Livenation behind them. Universal have long since got their money back from the making of CD, and they have got what they wanted in getting the old band back together. Also, Slash likes to make new music and tour it, I can't see him hanging around in a band that is just going to constantly tour old music, probably the same with Duff as well. Duff was going on about his legacy in a recent interview which shows he is looking for something more meaningful in the future. The band still have the capacity to make new music that can mean something to a lot of people, so why not try. That is what you are looking at when you talk about legacy. 

I guess we will find out for sure if it really was the record company preventing Axl from releasing something in favour of a reunion cause they must be pushing hard right now to capitalize on that “decade” long tour they’ve been on. I still think if we are going to see a new album it comes out near the end of this year, just a feeling and if it doesn’t, ill say we never hear anything new officially released

Hey man believe whatever you want, you maybe 100% right that will never see anything as far as new material, but saying it is impossible for them to work on anything without the world knowing about through these so called “leaks” thats just not true

Well it isn’t really a secret that they’ve been working on it. Last year Eminem released a suprise album without anything leaking out that it was coming so its not impossible, unlikely but not impossible 

Could make a cool music Video were the band gets sent back in time ala Terminator to their You Could be Mine video, but instead them playing YCBM they play a new song cause the orginal guys are drunk and hailed out lol

This CITR is better though

After 1 listen and I wouldn't call it epic, prefer the album version

Anyways, I've derailed the thread enough already lol. Like I said, im very aware that I'm in the vast minority in my thinking about the song. 

No matter who was the inspiration for whatever song I've never personally cared that much, if I like how it sounds and can relate anyway to the message in the song it is all that matters to me.

I love the slow build up til the drums hit and the outro kicks ass too

Obviously everyone is just speculating, but I imagine the "evolved" is just Chinese type stuff with Duff and Slash's touches on it, which I'm perfectly okay with.

Ya I read the book like 15 years ago and I thought the timeline was pretty messed up, I think C+ is a good grade. Def worth a watch, but if you haven't read the book you should, its great. I was glad they included the Ozzy part.

If I this is true and we are going to see an album with some of the stuff meant for CDll let’s say November 2020, hopefully we get some stuff that supposedly being hoarded like at Atlas Shrugged(if it really is out there) or something like that earlier next year knowing it’s going to be released anyway

Where there is smoke there is fire right? Exception to the rule is GNR. January announcement, new album coming out every year since 1997, CD 2 on the way. Its really hard to stay positive and believe Richard cause he said things similar to this for so many years. Kudos to whoever finds and post this when he says it cause it does always give that guy that glimmer of hope, but after all this time of encouraging responses about new material and so little to show for it, its just hard to believe anything until you see it.

People forget that songs like You Could Be Mine, Don't Cry and November Rain could have been on Appetiite, those are some pretty damn good leftovers.We haven't heard much of what Axl was saving for the second record, for all we know they decided to put the songs they did out on CD because 90% had leaked anyways. Evaders version of "The General" that's kicking around I think is fantastic and gives me hope for what the new record will sound like.

I personally continue maintaining my same stance; I'll see it when I believe it. I don't expect new a new GN'R album anytime soon, but I would love to be wrong!

If Axl himself announces the album you have to still have that stance because he told us Chinese Democracy would be out in March 2006 and we were left empty handed.

Ya I’d be extremely disappointed if it was a live album, although I really like their version of Witchita Lineman. Wouldn’t it be mind blowing if they had an album done and dropped it out of no where right before Christmas, similar to what Eminem did with Kamikaze earlier this year? Pipe dream I know, but would be amazing

Haha I like his phrasing calling it an "unimpeachable" source, hopefully its true. Hopefully the leaks from last June and Evaders "The General" helped get the wheels turning.

Seems hard to believe, but if true I can’t imagine there wouldn’t be a clause in the contract that would void it if was let go by the band

Anyone think will see a new best of album say at Christmas this year with a couple new songs? I thought I read a rumour of that somewhere 

I remember when it finally came out on Apple Music in the US and thought for sure it would come to Canada, unfortunately years have passed and it still not available on Canada Apple Music. I did buy the End of days soundtrack when it first got released

If Slash and Duff can't get Axl to release a new album, then it'll truly be the end of GnR in terms of new materials.

I'm gonna be optimistic and say we'll see a new album before 2020.

No AC/DC for Axl and Slash finished touring his new album, there's gonna be a good chance for them to go into the studio. 

With all the rumoured pressure for reunion and CD getting weaker reception then they probably expected I can see them rejecting it to try persuade him into a reunion, pure speculation though
