I just wanted to forewarn all you musicians and djs are there ... I copyrighted the FART noise ... so if you use a FARTING sound, I will sue. Yes, even if you use your own FART noise, it doesn't matter! A FART is a FART regardless of who's ass it is coming out of!

In my opinion GNR has yet to top AFD (the Illusions came awfully close) but I have faith that the next album is going to be great and hopefully takes the foundation of CD and builds on it. I can't wait to hear what DJ has to offer

Yeah, I miss Robin Finck!
DJ reminds me too much of Slash. It makes GnR again seem like a whore rock band from the '80s. He brings that whole Sixx AM vibe to GnR which is so uncool.
Let's remember why Axl wanted Robin Finck in the first place:
1. Because Finck is a genius in creating cutting edge industrial and alternative rock music!
Because of Finck's credentials, Finck gave GnR more credibility and respect. You may not like NiN music but you sure would not disrespect them.
With Finck in GnR, it was that same thing. Non-GnR fans have to think twice before dissing GnR once they know Robin Finck - from NiN - was the main guitarist.
You don't get the same kind of respect with DJ (or Slash for the matter).

That show RIO is everywhere.. They were palying clips of it on the radio the other day making fun of him. I walked by 3 guys at work today and they were on facebook making fun of Axl and there was some god awful pic of him up there.. Not very good promotion for a tour that no one gives a fuck about anyway.

What I love about this band is that they take the old songs and remove the cheeze and outdated sounds/vibe to them.
Most of the old songs by today's standard and style, sound cheap, but the band has *modernized* them.
Frank's drumming definitely makes a huge improvement over Matt's and Steven. He's got more groove and style.
So here, Estranged-2011 sounds much better than on the album and how it was played live in the past!

Because being wet with rain makes you cold.
When you get cold, what happens? You lose your capabilities to function normally.
Things really started to not go well during November Rain. Why? Because that song required all of Axl's abilities to perform! Play piano and sing! Not only that, Axl had to deal with the rain on the piano. He was also sitting in water!
Axl is old and not the most fit person in the world. So to claim that the rain did not effect him, is plain ignorance!
Let's see how well you can sing in the cold heavy rain!
His voice sucked throughout the show barring a handful of songs, so no he didn't start off well. He certainly started of slightly better, but still not well.
Plenty of singers have and they didn't decline as much as Axl did. Did the rain effect his memory for his own lyrics?

Some folks have a hard time believing that cold heavy rain can affect a person's singing abilities.
I agree with what you're saying about the running around and all. But, the point is that cardiovascular conditioning in and of itself does not determine a singer's capacity to properly support their voice with breath.

Axl at his age, is not in any shape to put on 2.5 hour show in that kind of weather. Axl started the show off well and he was in great spirit at the start too.
Axl should have just stayed in his YELLOW raincoat all night!
I know the old adage of 'Axl gets better as he goes on tour' however, he has never started a tour off THIS bad.
Even RIR3 he was better vocally and definitely more in condition.

The new band plays the songs with more fitting to the current times ... with less cheeze ... with less seventies-eighties vibe and sounds.
For all the technical proficiency of Axl's new lineup, I still think the old band played the old songs better - because they were simply written in that nature. Brownstone, ISE, Jungle, etc. all sound better as raw, gritty, basic and stripped-down tracks. When you have three guitars with insane shred solos and people banging cymbals and so on and so forth the very nature of the songs change. I suppose some people might prefer that, but give me Ritz '88 any day.
Having said that, the band is solid and the new material and UYI material is more suited towards them.

Folks, Axl clearly is not one of them folks who ages well.
Sure, maybe if he stopped being a night owl, big eater, and drinker, it will help him stay in shape, but more than anything, it is a genetics issue. Axl clearly does not have the athletic fit genes.
Because of Axl's shape, he was not equipped to handle the heavy downfall of rain. As the show went on, the rain was clearly having an effect him.
You try peforming in heavy rain for more than an hour and lets see how well you do!
And you can't expect that Axl is going to *train* for his concerts, like a boxer trains for his matches months in advance. That's just not him.
The way Axl prepares for touring is by actually touring. But because Axl did not have to worry about performing any NEW songs, Axl obviously felt it was unnecessary to have warm-up shows like he did in 2006.
Axl basically was not ready for the unexpected rain. The heavy rain threw Axl off his game.
But he should have no problem bouncing back.

No. What 1080p confirmed was that new-GnR kicks old-GnR's ass in terms musical talent.
New-GnR can play all the old songs better than the old-GnR did - especially on the soloing efforts.
Did Axl remember the lyrics to November Rain, Patience and This I Love in 1080p?
