  1. RHIAD is one of the most innovative rock songs GnR has ever put out.

There's something different about it from past GnR songs. That is probably why some GnR fans don't like it.

    RHIAD is just bad-ass IMO.

  2. OK, maybe this is a better statement: EMINEM is the most successful selling WHITE RAPPER

Age is not a factor for rapping or singing. Age is a factor for the topics of your lyrics.

Obviously, if Axl rapped about BIG BOOTY and GANGSTA LIFE, that would be stupid.

Hip-hop is not limited to just the club and street scene.

I mean, the Paradise City verses could be considered *rap* as well.

  3. One of the knocks on GnR in the past was that they were never consider as a band that *invented* a new sound that could be thought of as a new genre, where the genesis of their sound could only be traced back to them.

GnR has been called a band that is like a *melting pot* of many different sounds.

With the old songs, you could easily pick out the pieces in them and trace their influences to some other band.

But GnR has never been considered one of those bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, NiN, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Beastie Boys, etc ... that are considered *NEW MUSIC*. A band that has contributed a *NEW SOUND* or created a *NEW GENRE* to the music landscape.

*New Rock* or *New Music* stations do not play any of GnR's music.

Music historians who have reviewed CD consider CD as a *melting-pot* of all music from the Beatles to the Hip-hop/dance sounds of today. These historians say CD is like a *history* of most of the popular music since the Beatles.

BUT ... is the music on CD *NEW MUSIC*, ie. where the sound is so distinctive and unique that it can only be traced to GnR?

Is this the LEGACY that Axl wants for GnR ... to be considered a band that has created a *NEW SOUND* and *NEW MUSIC* that is distinctly and uniquely GnR?

Or will GnR be remembered as just a *melting-pot* type band?

  4. If Axl grew up in today's culture, I think he would have been what EMINEM is today.

We've seen Axl spit rap rhymes in the past.

He's incorporated hip-hop and dance beats and sounds on CD.

Axl's ability to sing lyrics very fast is why I think Axl could be one of the best WHITE rappers out there if he wanted to switch full gear into hip-hop.

Axl could certainly be better than Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers) if he did incorporate a more rock-rap style.

Do you think Axl will bring back his rap game in this new tour?

Do you think he will RAP on any new albums?

How good do you think Axl could be? As good as EMINEM maybe?

Or, what about these two other bands:

    1. The Beasties Boys

    2. Rage against the Machine

You think Axl could out-rap these bands?

  5. For a show with a short setlist, Axl would not have any problems doing TWAT.

But for a full concert, a song like TWAT or COMA would drain him out and leave nothing for the closing song of Paradise City.

Axl would probably do TWAT more if TWAT replaced Paradise City, but obviously that is not going to happen.

And an album does not need to have only songs that a person can perform live all the time. A live concert is different than listening to an album in the comfort of your house.

Songs like TWAT take too much out of Axl. That's the only reason why they are not perform.

Would love to hear Estranged, Civil War, and TWAT be regulars on the setlist. I know TWATS a bitch to sing, but that's one of the few songs on CD that has major replay value to me, and should have been released as a single imo.

yeah, twat is a great song, but i can't see any sense is record a song, and don't play it live.

if this is a problem from him...don't release songs that can't to sing. simple as that.

  7. Yeah, I don't think they'll take out Nightrain ... but that song's got too much of that '80s vibe to it that makes it annoying after awhile.

Civil War - the ending needs to change

    Don't Damn Me

    - they never or rarely played it with the old group

    - Axl seems to not like sing very fast intense songs on live because it drains him

Aren't these songs already *regulars* on the setlist:

    Better

    This I Love

    Street of Dreams

EDIT: Catcher is not a regular on the setlist

You can't take out Nightrain. That might be GnR's best overall "rock" song. And maybe the best chance for live guitar solos to shine.

I would love to see out to get me, Live and Let Die and Heaven's Door replaced with different songs. Heck, throw out Mr. Brownstone too. Great song, but we've heard it for 25 years now.

    Civil War

    Dont Damn Me

    Estranged

    Slow version of You're Crazy

From CD I'd like to hear

    Better

    Catcher

    This I Love

    Prostitute

    Street of Dreams

  8. On the last tour, Axl brought back the BANDANNA.

Do you think he might bring something else back from his wardrobe collection from the past?

    Maybe:

    1. Biker Shorts

    2. Quilt

    3. Baseball Catcher

    4. Leather tight pants

    5. Football Jersey, Pumped Kicks, Track Pants

    6. The Elton John red suit outfit during November Rain

    7. Meshed shirts

What about him braiding his hair again?

  9. The GnR logo is not the only thing photoshopped on her top! LMAO!

And look at her arms! Hairy!

But seriously mate, there is no need to get all stressed out over who she is.

Plenty of other girls online to jerk off too.

  10. This is RAP in it's basic form.

    RAP is all about RAPPING.

RAPPING is not the same as SINGING.

RAPPING is more of a SPOKEN WORD art form.

So the focus is on the WORDS. Hence, why it is not necessary for a melody and pop song structure.

And no, this "song" is not one of them songs you will hear on the radio or at the clubs. You would never hear this song performed lived either.

The purpose of this "song" is to provide a simple and quick outlet for Jay-z and Kanye to express their respect for Axl Rose.

Remember, Axl was probably the first mainstream white artist to promote NWA to the masses.

  11. There are absolutely no bands that create the genesis (beginnings) of a song by sitting together in one room staring at each other like homos.

Inspiration does not work like this! Every body has a different way of coming of with new songs. Inspiration does not grow on trees. Most of the time, inspiration just happens by accident.

So here is how it works: every member of a band brings the beginnings of any song ideas that they have created in their PRIVATE time. Then, every one in the band decides what songs are worth pursuing and completing as a band.

For GnR, Axl gives the band a creative musical direction: a vision.

Then every one goes off on their own and do "their thing". And when members have something that might sound cool, they run it by every one else to see what they think.

That's it. It's a process. It takes time.

Even with OLD-GNR, this was how it was done.

So for those idiots who think that new-GnR songs are not written as a band, they simply have no idea how songs are created.

  12. Axl was not aiming for a NIN type electronica sound.

Axl is and has always been about the GnR sound progressing and growing. That is why there was conflict with Slash and Duff. Slash and Duff were satisfied staying the same.

Axl is truly a musician. He wants to be known for creating NEW music that nobody has ever done before.

CD 1 was really just GnR finding its voice back, as well as paying of GnR debt to the record company.

GnR will have more freedom with CD 2. So as Axl explicitly stated, the GnR sound will become more progressive and different with each new subsequential GnR album.

So the question remains to be seen, how different the GnR sound will become.

  13. No disrespect to Axl, but those lyrics you quoted from "Rocket Queen" aren't exactly creatively original.

Even if Rihanna does use those exact same words in one of her songs, it still doesn't mean she was trying to copy Rocket Queen.

On top of that, the chord progression for that part of Rocket Queen is not really that original either. You would have to copy it almost note for note, including the lead guitar sounds, before you could claim a copyright violation.

I know this aint much news, and probably was posted along time ago...i havent been around for a few...but my friend posted "If you need a shoulder or if you need a friend, I'll be here standing until the bitter end" for his facebook status, and someone was like quoting Rhianna lyrics? I was like wtf, and sure enough she uses that exact line in one of her songs...which song i have no idea cause i nevber listened to Rhianna...but i just found that interested...thoughts?

  14. It's called strategy.

And Axl hinted to what their strategy was. Release songs that the current GnR fan base will most likely enjoy and add a bit of newer experimental songs to wet everyone's appetite. Each subsequent album will progress further and farther away from the 'old' sound.

Had GnR release a radical modern experimental album right of the bat as the first album, there is no telling whether the old GnR fans will enjoy it and whether it would have gained traction with the new kids today.

That is just too much of big risk to take. My guess is that it would have been a colossal failure musically and financially.

With the release of CD, GnR now has re-established their strong base of fans from which they can build from. The successful album sales and tour has given them enough credibility and buzz to take bigger risks.

  15. Why doesn't Slash just "magically" find a room at the same hotel as Axl while they are on tour ... then "magically" run into him in the hallway ... then "magically" suck Axl's cock so that Axl will invite him on stage?

Slash can just make up an excuse that he was "there for business" and would save face.

It worked for Duff ... so why can't it work for Slash?

    LMAO!!!

No reunion is going to happen. The best anyone of you Slasholes can wish for is a "guest spot" - and that is already asking for too much.

The only people who would benefit from a reunion are: Steven, Slash, Duff, and Matt.

Izzy could give a rats ass. He gets stage fright on the big stage. Slash, Duff, and Matt need exposure for the new VR band. Steven, the poor soul, has been living his AFD days for like the past 30 years, he just needs a taste of the "real thing" one last time ... before he ODs for good.

A reunion does nothing for Axl. A reunion would be the end of Axl and any new GnR music.

Like it or not, GnR is what is today. CD is closer to the experimental and edgy sound of AFD than all the non-ballads on UYI and any of the other music put out by any of the old members.

Now remember folks why the old GnR broke up. Axl wanted more creative music from the band, while folks like Slash and Duff were stuck to their current sound - which by the way has not progressed one bit. Had Axl agreed to release music like that found on Snakepit or Duff's loaded crap, GnR would have surely died in '96 for good. And VR was (or is) no better either.

So just be happy that Axl knew well enough what was in the best interest in GnR's long term success.

Thanks to Axl's decisions, GnR still lives today and still has the opportunities to continue to create experimental and edgy new music that nobody else can match in both skill and creativity.

So, here is a toast for CD II, CD III, CD IV, and so on.

The past needs to stay buried in the past. Live and let die!
