  1. Yeah in a round about way I can see why Axl said he was late coz he didnt wanna be on tour. Presumably he needs to have his head right before he can get on stage and perform, that's fair enough.

But to reference back to 1991 as a reason for being late, sheesh!

  2. To the original poster - you have no fucken idea. Your GNR history obviously stops at 2007 like your username.

    Re the tour in 1991...

During 1990 Alan Niven was trying get David Geffen to renegotiate GNR's contract with Geffen. David Geffen refused.

Niven basically told Geffen to go fuck himself then and that he won't get the albums and they will go on tour instead and make money. Bare in mind this is also during the time that David Geffen is trying to sell his company too. He wanted those records out and selling because that increased the sale price.

Geffen refused to budge thinking they couldn't tour without an album, so Niven booked the first part of that tour and the tickets started selling like hotcakes. Geffen saw what was happening and finally relented to renogitating. That's why they had started touring before the album was finished.

Not because of some stupid crap about the management/record company thinking touring would save Slash and Duff from dying. But don't let the details get in the way of a good story you mofo....

Oh yeah Axl then sacked Niven after he got Geffen to agree to renegotiate. The signing over of the name then happened on Goldstein's watch, as Niven has said in interviews in the past he would never have allowed something like that to happen, he represented all band members equally. Goldstein on the other hand... I mean just read the paragraphs in Duff's book about it and what Goldstein said to Duff after they signed.

Also that renegotiation meant massively more financial security for Axl and Co, yet he uses that as a reason for going on late because he didn't want to tour????

  3. This is what I just emailed the seller: I'm a HUGE GnR fan, & I am completely aware of how rare this version of Chinese Democracy is. I understand that this cd has already been opened and played, so my question is, were you smoking crack when you decided to put a $1000 buy it now on it? :)

You do realize 2 copies of this cd already sold this week for $600 and $650 USD?

  4. troccoli, do you ever feel a little greedy? Being a collector must be nice, I have sod all of actual rarity or value.

Not greedy no, just tired from working my ass off to have the money to be able to afford teh collection I have. Although there have been items here and there that I have actually acquired at record stores around the country - so tired from pounding the pavement as well. Also very tired from scouring the internet all the time for the itms I have obtained and the deals I have made.

Yeah why would working hard and saving your money to spend on something you love make you feel greedy???

It's the nature of the game we all win some and lose some plus plenty of items the collectors don't buy.

Exactly that's the fun of the game, trying to find that rare or cool item before someone else. But everyone shares their finds so ultimately everyone's knowledge about what is out there increases. I've learnt heaps from other collectors about shit that I never even knew existed.

why all of a sudden are people having a go at troccolli ? the guys good at what he does and is happy to share his items with us whether its on here or his website ! all the items troccolli buys can be bought by anyone , but you gotta know how to find them (before troccolli) !

  6. I messaged the seller via eBay again and here's my question and their reply:

Hey there. Not sure if you remember me, I bought 6 of these from you. Is there any way you could tell me more information about them? How you got them? Did you get them through Bestbuy? Amoeba records? Direct from the record company and/or band/band members? I am a big GNR collector and am always interested in the history of the items I collect. Thanks!

    Dear zombie456,

    Sorry to much info.

    - gevsgarage818

    Haha that's classic!

Sounds to me like the dude knows he shouldn't be selling them or they "acquired" them from somewhere they shouldnt' have.

He probably had 20 people ask him since the links been up awhile

Actually I didn't think of that, good point. His ebay account is probably full of emails about them.

  8. im gonna have to side with troccolli here , if i had the chance to buy a few rare items and make some money on them then i would so i could add to my collection as troccollis gonna do , anyone who can honestly say they wouldnt have done the same are liars !! troccolli got lucky with these items and good for him !

Yeah I'm the same, if I was Troccoli I would have bought the lot as well.

It's like if you saw someone selling say 8 new Harley Davidsons for only $1,000 each. If you had the cash would you only buy one? FUCK NO, you would buy the whole lot straight away, I would even ask if I get a discount for buying all 8 together ;)

  9. Question for everyone: so how much would you have paid for this jacket if you had known about it and if you had the funds?

more then it went for :D

Yeah, I now have the chance to purchase it but don't really want to pay the asking price. I might be willing to go $1000.

For me personally $1,000 would be the very top end of what I would pay too. It's obviously extra cool coz it was Slash's but it's not a leather jacket so that's gotta keep the price down a bit. Realistically maybe around $600-$700 is fair to me??

  10. Yeah I didn't mention the live in the jungle one since troccoli linked that one above and I figured that's what prompted the posters question. I forgot about the Hollywood Rose one. There is also one on the Aussie UYI I version that came with a bonus disc and bandanna. Th bonus disc us the same as that bonus disc with the NR single.

  11. Is there a professionaly recorded live version of shadow of your love?

There is a Live Version on the b-side of the It's So Easy 12" Vinyl and 12" Vinyl Picture Disc. It's also on a special Aussie CD single of November Rain wich comes with a bonus disc that included the song.

There is a Shadow of Your Love Studio Demo version as the b-side on Live and Let Die.

Interestingly when the band were looking for a producer for AFD they got Mike Clink to do a "try out" on Shadow of Your Love. However, this version has never come out even though Slash has said it was a version that the band really liked. Later when Shadow of Your Love was released as a B-side on LALD they instead used an even earlier version of the song recorded with Manny Charlton at Sound City in June 4-5 1986.

  12. Cool you found the 5 Track version of the Live in the Jungle Cassette - nice work. Where did you snare that from was it expensive?

Thanks - got it from eBay as soon as I saw it only had 5 tracks. Can't remember how much but I'd say less than 50 bucks. The insert is not complete as you can see.

Ha that didn't take you long.

I like that German Lies LP with the press release, that's nice I haven't seen that before.

  13. WAS THERE 3 VERSIONS OF NOVEMBER RAIN PICTURE DISCS ? I KNOW FOR 3 DIFFERENT VERSION !

    1. DESTRUCTION , LIES THE ROAD TO ILLUSION PICTURE DISC

    2. NOVEMBER RAIN WHITE PICTURE DISC WITH LOGO IN THE MIDDLE WITH BLOOD RUNNING DOWN

    3. SAME AS ABOVE BUT WITH A RED OUTER RIM

AM I CORRECT OR IS ONE A MISS PRINT ?

You are correct. Are you the one who won that auction? As usual, I forgot to bid. Actually I think whoever won made an offer to end the auction early. So I didn't forget I just should have made an offer to do the same. Oh well.

    Which auction was that?

I remember either Fred or Gadelho telling me that there was a third version of that blood logo picture disc with a different colour around the border but I can't remember what colour he said it was (obviously not black or the rarer red though).

  14. My box set as has the November Rain pictured vinyl in it.

The reason I am trying to find this out is because I am going to be selling off all my unofficial or import stuff.

All I want to keep is the official UK released stuff.

This box set does have made on Germany printed on it but that only means it was made in Germany it still might have been sold in UK.

See for some reason I have it in my head that I saw this box set for sale in my local Our Price shop back in the day which is making me think this was a UK release as well but it was many years ago and my memory could be wrong.

You may well have seen it for sale in the UK. I remember seeing one for sale in a Specialist Music store here in Australia back in the 1990's. But I am pretty sure they simply imported it themselves (they did that with a lot of music stuff this store) and I am confident it was never officially released here. So I guess what I am saying is even though you may have seen it for sale in the UK it may not have actually been an official release there.

Have you got the old Record Collector magazine discography that listed the UK releases? It's old but I thought it had releases up until about the time this box set came out. (I'll have to dig mine out and have a look).

  15. This isnt a dvd. It is a box set from the early 90's. It has Lies and Appetite cd inside also with Novemeber Rain 12" picture disc and a big poster

I always thought it was only a German release.

You do know that there are 2 versions of this box set. One that has the November Rain 12" vinyl picture disc and another that has a November Rain CD single with the same image as the vinyl picture disc on it (this one is rarer).
