  2. You maybe right it could not mean drugs at all but more the illusion of being in control and thinking your only sampling but your just fooling yourself and that will cost you more than you realize.

It's saying that you can find wealth and fame in the city, but it'll corrupt you to the core. Think "Bright Lights, Big City."

  3. Thanks that's my second laugh of the day! lol

If St. Louis wins the world series, it would be stupid to wear St. Louis Sucks shirt. He would have to get a Dallas Rangers suck! shirt. lol

I tell you I wish Axl would wear those little white shorts again. :)

It's nice to see somebody finally got what I was referring to, although it's Texas Rangers.

I think most of the people in the thread already got it. Failure to pat you on the back and tell you you're a genius does not constitute a failure to "get it."

Anyway, it was nice to see GnR send out a congrats to StL after the win.

  4. The term "heavy metal" is an umbrella term that is extremely open-ended. In the 1970s Deep Purple and KISS were considered "metal," and they aren't as heavy as GN'R.

And Never say Die is light years better than most of the Tony Martin shit.

It's a self-esteem thing. There's always a new generation of kids that need to redefine metal and make into an even smaller, more niche category so that they can feel like they're better than everyone else.

Can you tell I hate genre nazis?

  5. I definitely don't come across as hate filled.

Don't be so sure about that. I'd probably just characterize you as unreasonably angry and belligerent towards the band, but having read many of your posts, I can certainly see where you might come across as hate-filled to other people reading the forum. This sort of thing is inherently subjective.

  6. 3 years later (has it been that long?) I still don't fully understand

I think he's saying that GnR was always an evolving thing and the old members left because they didn't fit with GnR and where it was going.

In other words, the current lineup feels like GnR, whereas the older lineup wouldn't feel like GnR at this point.

  7. What's buckets best solo album?? Sorry for the daft question but havint really listened much of his solo stuff. Cheers

That's a hard question to answer, given the number of releases he's done... but I'm quite fond of Albino Slug.

  8. I remember reading on this board that Axl was more or less forced to do the US tour to pay Azoff, didn't they settle some kind of thing like that in courts?

Both sides probably prefer making money and wanted a U.S. tour to happen, but couldn't come to terms for a long time. So they sued each other to force the issue and eventually reached a settlement that included a tour. As for who got the better end of the deal, we have no idea since we don't know what either sides starting positions were or what the final deal was.

  9. Scraped is ok, but not very interesting. But I can't think of a single thing I like about Riad.

I loved the rest of the CD, though. Shackler's, Sorry, TIL, and ITW especially. Shackler's, in particular, sounded like modern metal with more tonal variation and a catchy chorus, and I'd love to see them explore that more.

  10. Personally, I want to hear the material that's in the vault without having it arbitrarily modified just for the sake of getting another batch of musicians into the credits.

I'd love to see it all released in one big batch. After that, they can start working on new stuff.

  11. Axl catches a lot of hell from the uninformed types that he spent 15 years working on 15 songs. Would the media have been kinder had Axl come out with like a double or triple album with like 30-35 songs all at once?

Not really. They'd already chosen their narrative, so they would have made the facts fit the narrative they wanted to tell, no matter what.

    That's how journalism works.
