  1. That's bullshit. The Israelians should have the same right to experience Axl taking the stage hours late, if at all.

And the Palestinians ? Have they right to live ?

Agreed. If Axl starts killing Palestinian civilians for no good reason, he should be boycotted.

But until then, the whole thing is absurd.

Funny how people weren't giving S. Africa this kinda benefit of the doubt ("oh but the fans!") and blacks under apartheid had it a lot better than the Palestinians do under Israel (in fact S. Africa had an illegal immigration problem).

Though to be fair, blacks weren't strapping bombs to their women and children and sending them into the town square.

mandela advocated violence. it isn't really well known or talked about, but apartheid in S. Africa was not without it.

i think it is cool that gnr pulled out of israel, if they did. i miss bands standing for something.

I'm pretty sure Axl's on the Israeli side of the fence, there were some Israeli fans a while back who met him and said he said "I believe in Israel" or something, plus GNR have played Tel Aviv before.

Well, it was the Arab nations that previously ruled that territory that invaded Israel, not the other way around. So it's certainly reasonable to side with the Israelis.

  2. People call Slash a sell-out because of the things he does besides music. Axl gets payed 1million dollar to do a private gig, for playing under the GN'R name.

Not very hard to say, who the 'sell-out' is.

When you put it that way, it really DOES make Slash sound like a sell-out, pimping himself out for sideshows while Axl just gets paid to play gigs. Maybe you should rephrase your argument.

  3. I suspect that historical perceptions of UYI may have a lot to do with it. For a long time, there were people that insisted UYI wasn't "real" GnR music in much the same way some people insist CD isn't "real" GnR. If Axl is at all sensitive to accusations about authenticity, he may simply not want the current band to be associated with most of the UYI-era stuff.

  4. Shackler's has a very catchy beat and is generally a very catchy song with a nice hook and groove to it--I'm wondering why this song never caught on. It has ''single'' written on it, more than any of the other songs.

Personally I wish CD had been totally in the style of Shackler's and Oh My God--They're my favorite songs from 'new' GN'R.

I'm not a big fan of OMG, but Shackler's Revenge is one of my three favorites (along with This I Love and Sorry). So yeah, I'd like to hear more along those lines.

The two I can't stand are Street of Dreams (skull-crushingly boring) and Riad (is there some music in there, somewhere?).

  5. Keep touring thats all they need before you know it CD will top the charts .

That would require a runaway hit single, and the only songs with that potential are Sorry and TIL. GnR doesn't seem to be in any hurry to promote singles. I suspect what we'll see is gradual sales of a few thousand a week for a very long time, with boosts from touring and new album releases. The result would be excellent long-term sales, albeit not smashing any records.

  6. Very cool.

I wish they sold all tickets the old-fashioned way by lining up for them instead of having internet sales, where the majority of tickets wind up in scalpers' hands.

Very cool to see the lines. :)

Internet or no internet, the only way to stop scalping is to raise prices.
