What "GnR" is or isn't...will obviously be different for every person. Because it depends entirely on what the term "Guns n Roses" actually means to you. Is it the name of a band? Is it a particular sound? A music style? An attitude? A certain image? Everyone's free to argue with whatever definition they want...but at the end of the day, Axl is the one holding the name, and to him, GnR is the name for his art. It has been from the beginning. Anyone who is good at what they do, or wants to be, evolves. And Chinese Democracy is a product of the evolution of his art. Therefore, it is GnR. It's really a pointless argument. What the other guys did under that name hasn't been lost or erased, and never will be. They created that stage of GnR together, but they decided to move on from that. That time was GnR. This time is GnR. It's not the same, but art changes and evolves as a person does in order to survive. It would be wrong if after all these years it was still the same.

I offered Axl and Beta the name and number of the security manager so they could follow up to find out where the communication got off-track (if it got off-track as they allege), but they had no interest. Axl preferred to make a slanderous offensive post - shooting the messenger - instead of taking the time to see if someone had been giving instructions on his behalf without his knowledge.

Different people have different ideas of what GnR is. Personally, I don't call this lineup Guns N Roses, I usually call it New GnR or something along those lines. That doesn't mean I don't like this lineup.

1985-1996(ish) is GnR to me. If its not for you, that's cool. Just don't expect everyone to call this lineup Guns N Roses.

Wow, im so dissapointed in how this whole thing has been handled and the disrpect that has been aimed at Madison since axl's post. I have been visiting this forum since I was 15, when you would get an official statement from the gnr camp once a year and lots of fans giving up making topics on the forum about how axl had dissapointed fans by not making statements or by how new members were being replaced by newer ones and how much gnr wasn't gnr anymore. When shit like that popped on this forum, Madison was the first one to make a post about how if you don't like it you can get the fuck out and would erase the posts. She has moderated this forum like a true GNR fan in my opinion. I am now 23, turning 24 in June and Chinese democracy has come out and the band is touring now and Madison is still here, never gave up on the band and was straightforward with everyone and didn't keep shit back from any of the fans in terms of censoring. It truly is sad how members in this forum are quick to turn the left cheek in order to please others.

What he said about Axl is indeed true. But the question remains. Why Slayer, a big band, need to mention Axl about their touring history and how good they trested the fans?

Is there anyway that we can stop counting solos, intros, and jams as songs in the setlists? Perhaps use an asterik or hyphen for those parts of the shows because everyone starts saying they played a 30+ song show and it sounds amazing (which the shows are - I am not saying they aren't) but it is incorrect.

The new lineup is solid and they're putting on good shows, but quite frankly, the original GN'R was more of a legitimate "band." Any time a band becomes highly popular and starts playing to stadiums, it loses something special. That's why the Stones, U2, etc., were all better in the early days. The new band is putting on some fun shows but will never live up to the pure awe of the Ritz show, for example.

That being said, don't accuse me of being some kind of prejudiced fan. I think the Illusion tours suffered from the same problem. Solid performances, but they had nothing on the '88/'89 band.

The "band" hasn't made progress because the "band" isn't the same "band" that we saw in 2001. There's been three different "bands" since RIR3. So technically, there can't be any progress since it's completely new.

What are you trying to say? We're comparing GNR in all forms, from 1985 till today. The band someone saw in 19887, is fifferent than the line up in 1992. Can't we compare them?
