  1. I think a minority is over produced and more of it is just overkill. Songs like Coma and Estranged go for one verse too much. Songs like Perfect Crime and Garden of Eden try to fit too much into 3 minutes. Songs like Right Next Door to Hell, Back off Bitch, and Shotgun Blues aren't anything special - to me they just sound like tryhard rock songs to appease the WTTJ/ISE fans - they need more producing. Breakdown and Locomotive are awesome in parts and just plain boring in other parts. I think November Rain is perfect - it ebbs and flows smoothly, great solos, ends at the right time. Dont Cry and Civil War had potential to be ruined, but are great lyrically so it doesn't get overcomplicated - end of Dont Cry and start of Civil War are minor bug bears. Dont Cry alt lyrics isn't needed. The covers aren't needed - in fact they'd beef up the Spaghetti Incident, which leads to...one album

    Dont Cry

    Bad Obsession

    Double Talkin Jive

    November Rain

    Dont Damn Me

    Coma

    Civil War

    14 years

    Yesterdays

    Pretty Tied Up

    Estranged

    You Could be Mine

Most of the other songs werent in the staple UYI set anyway. They could've been worked on for the next album.

  2. Axl lip syn, give me a fn break! I guess whatever makes people talk trash.

I wasn't trying to talk trash. It was mentioned in the Townsville thread, so I kept some attention to it.

Bumblerose is right though, the sound was definately off at the start, which isn't really suitable for songs like CD and WTTJ. I didnt have problem with Korn fans, more the casual older GNR fan that took too much alcohol.

  3. Korn were good I guess - pretty much played their well known songs and the sound wasn't awful, but they should probably upgrade their gear.

GNR were good. IMO they were better in 2007, but I think It had something to do the crowd and the sound. Compared to 07, the date, time, support, location were different, so this would've been the main influence. The crowd were more of the bogan pisshead crowd and weren't that loud, and I feel that Korn were louder than Guns. The setlist was pretty much the same. I was hoping that being the last night they would go all Japan show on us :)

With the Axl lip synching thing - I know that he wouldn't sync a whole show, and he does have some back up vocal track on some songs, but I do feel that on some songs he could be synching the song or parts of a song. Either that or the oxygen tank does some wierd things, because sometimes he comes back on stage and fucking kills it, or comes back on stage and sounds like he is 80. And then if he sings a few in a row he is inconsistant with voice. Maybe it was the sound in general, Im not sure..

Ashba is great acquisition. Not technically a master, but a good showman and someone who is easy to warm to. Sometimes he hams it up too much, but yeah, Axl doesn't seem to mind. Bumbelfoot certainly took the back seat but was still great. Kudos to Tommy for coming back to back to Perth after a funeral.

All in all a good show, though if you had've been to the 07 shows, you wouldn't have missed much.

  4. Im going. Not sure of the point of gold seats - if you want to sit down you should be able to sit on the banks, though I assume these gold seats would be close in.

For those coming from interstate - easiest way to get there would be catching the train to Kwinana station and then catching the shuttle bus they have to the show.

Times (take with grain of salt)

    shihad - 5.20 - 6

    korn - 6.30 - 7.30

    gnr - 8 - 10.20

  5. I think with the old GNR sound, the formula for the classic GNR songs are pretty much - decent intro/riff, material people can relate to, a mini solo, and a main solo.

The problem with alot of the Chi Dem songs is that they dont have great a great intro. Plus the subject matter (which is fairly self indulgent), will fly over the casual listeners head if it isn't that catchy.

  6. If The World is the most danceable song on Chinese Democracy.

If The World is the most skipable song on Chinese Democracy.

    Yes

If the World has an alright groove to it, but there's so much wrong with it, let alone dance to it

It's repetitive, Axls vocals over power the song, It doesn't sound like Axl at all

The only way it could get a good run would be as a remix. It would probably make a good doof doof song.
